Canada needs a military recruitment like the French foreign legion u just walk in and they take u let u stay with them and train u if u don’t pass there requirements they send u out

Yeah that is true, but we are just not susceptible to give our hard earned and values to people who will hate or spread Negativity about our team when the training offered is a possible chance of Terrorism. 😊😊

I applied to be an NCM Infanteer. I think the recruitment process takes way too long. Especially at a time of heightened global tension and an estimated 10,000 member shortfall. I really believe that part of the reason the CAF struggles with enrolling new members is the commonly quoted 3 months - 2 years wait before getting to BMQ. The waiting really hampers passion and the educated find other things to do. The tragedy in Ukraine made me realize that there is nothing more important to me than being a soldier. I quit a job that paid nearly 100k a year to join the CAF. For the first time in my life I had passion. I wanted to get in, get trained, and be ready for war. I know that it's on me for not doing the research beforehand, but come on. Get NCMs in while the passion is strong. Keep the passion alive and keep the soldier motivated.

I remember applying to be a pilot in grade 12. Went through the recruitment process, medical, aptitude test, interviews, then a week in some base north of Toronto for more tests, including sitting in simulator and aligning the machine using rudder pedals (for speed and accuracy I assume). In the end, they sat us all in a classroom, called out our last names, and declared who made it - “Pilot (yes or no), Navigator (yes or no).” I think the took maybe 5 people out of 30+ people. They then proceeded to tell us those not selected could never apply for pilot again in their life. No answers or explanations, suggestions for improvement. Fuck you Air Force!
@cplhenderson7334
@cplhenderson7334 Жыл бұрын
Hey man. I'm sorry to hear that. I will say that the Aircrew Selection Centre has changed a lot since when you did it. The simulators are gone and have been replaced by a two-day computerized testing battery. The attrition rate is still steep, but there is a full debrief of performance now and candidates can try the test 3 times, with 1 year waits in between. www.canada.ca/en/air-force/services/training-education/canadian-forces-aircrew-selection-centre/candidate-guide.html

Around 1986, while in the then-Communist Polish Army ( drafted ) I made friends with a pilot ( lieutenant ) and we were on the first-name basis. I was just a private and it was - obviously - against the regulations. Like I cared much about the Commie regulations... He wanted to get better at judo and I had quite a few years of practice behind me. He flew Mig-23 at the time. I asked him once why he flies for the Communists whom most of the nation hated. He responded; " I love flying fighter jets, get paid well, am living my dream... there would be no war with NATO because the only war possible would be a nuclear one ( no jets and pilots needed )." Yep, he had a valid point plus...he was having a blast...

How likely is it that you can get a civilian Commercial Pilot job after this? Would I still need to get all the licenses you would need to get as a civilian? How long does the training to become a pilot take?
@TEHRUSTYHOOK
@TEHRUSTYHOOK 4 ай бұрын
Quite likely, with the type of aircraft, amount of hours and whether or not you successfully became an aircraft commander all would have an effect on your ability to be hired. Yes, you would need to get all the applicable licenses outside of the military, but again depending on what you end up flying would change how easy that would be. Approx. 3-5 years to get your wings depending on entry program.

Hey man. There's a massive backlog in the training system (I think the last number was 600-700 pilots awaiting phase training) with multi-year waits for courses. Since the limiting factor is the training schools and not recruiting, they're really restricting intake for now - no point adding a bunch more people to the list just to wait 4 years. It really is unfortunate but they're slowly working through it.

The process to get in is long. Im leaving for BMQ in two weeks and I applied last September. Some people I know take years before receiving an offer. Hey Cpl henderson! I'm a cadet at 351 right now, I was just wondering my eye vision isn't that great it's definetly not a 20/20 i wear contacts. Is it possible to still become a CF-18 pilot if i wear glasses? just hoping I could get an official to answer this question and verify for me also I heard there an option of choosing that role you want on like a slip of paper they give you or something like that is it true?
@cplhenderson7334
@cplhenderson7334 Жыл бұрын
Hey man. The vision requirement is V2 which is essentially 20/40 in at least one eye. However don't take my word for it, definitely head into a recruiting centre once you're in your final year of high school. You do get to ask for specific streams, but at the end of the day you fly what's assigned to you. If you join be ready to fly anything, including multi-engine and helo.

Does anyone have information about what the age cut off is for pilots ? I’m 24 and never really had a passion for anything in life until I discovered flight sims like dcs and I’ve been seriously considering joining the RCAF, flying anything would be cool I just don’t know if it’s even worthwhile at this point in life, I don’t have much longer to pick a path in life before it’s too late so any input from anyone would help
@imfasterlol

@@bkdoesstuff1582it’s not young at all, I saw multiple people your age during my CFAST and this was when most people were going for ROTP I.e. grade 12. I’ve heard of people 30+ going through phase 2. Biggest advice is study for your CFAST as much as possible as most people fail (like 70% and just because you pass it doesn’t mean your score is competitive) also keep in mind that the test is designed to make you feel like your failing so don’t give up no matter what!

@cplhenderson7334 6 ай бұрын
You just need to be able to complete a contract before 55. If you already have a degree that's 13 years, without a degree it's 17 years. There aren't a ton of people in their 30s joining as pilots but it's also not uncommon - you wouldn't be alone. The first step is filling out the application online if you're interested.
