The Gordie Howe International Bridge project is a once-in-a-generation undertaking. Not only will the project deliver much-needed transportation improvements for international travellers, it will also provide jobs and opportunities for growth to the Windsor-Detroit region and includes features that make this project truly distinctive.
The project is being delivered through a public-private partnership (P3). A public-private partnership is a long-term performance- based approach to procuring public infrastructure where the private sector assumes a major share of the risks in terms of financing and construction and ensuring effective performance of the infrastructure, from design and planning, to long-term maintenance.

Canada is paying for it's construction, I hope it is all Canadian engineering, workers and Canadian steel! Don't worry, we'll make our money back!

Canada is funding, not paying, for the construction. The U.S. will be paying back their half via tolls. Once debt is paid, U.S. will begin to see revenue from tolls.

@@davem2051 Wouldn't be a bad idea to offer to buy it on the cheap, tear it down, and rebuild downtown Windsor.

@@boldontarian Ambassador comes with a s-load of land on both sides, it is the bridge & Moroun family that are garbage. Good for Windsor & Detroit to be rid of both, and redevelop. It will take time.

It is going to last 100-500 years. The Mackinaw Bridge (near Sioux Saint Marie) is 50 years old.
