04/16/2024 Waterloo, Ia. Here the CN L571 is preparing to depart the Waterloo Yard. Plenty of different angles and views with the drone! 04/23/2024 Cedar Falls, Ia. A new video spot for me in Cedar Falls. The L570 is headed East to the Waterloo Yard over this old school Illinois Central wooden bridge!

The L571 was a super long mixed manifest with BNSF leading and CN in the second and third positions. Mostly tank cars but a good number of covered hoppers also! Great train Red! 😊😊😊😊😊❤❤❤❤❤

Good morning Red, Interesting that a BNSF diesel locomotive is the first locomotive in front of a CN freight train. A very long freight train just the way I like it. Fantastic the crossing over the wooden bridge and your great drone shots. Thank you very much for the excellent video and have a nice first of May. Many greetings from Germany Wolfgang

That was a long 571! But at least the jointed rail sound made up for it. He didn't show up at Mills tower until after 10:30PM. That spur track going down to John Deere is the one that has a steep grade going across a ridge. You can see it at the intersection of Westfield Ave and Ansborough Ave.

Yeah that thing was plenty long. The drone helps make it a little more entertaining! The steep grade You're talking about is the one that goes to Northland Oil. Crazy steep for a rail line.

You saw the same thing I did on the car headlights. Must have been the frame rate on the drone camera looking at the LED headlights that made them flash. Another nice vid, thanks again for your time to put these together for us. I should comment on your previous vid, but it looks like Track 1 west of Montour has three or four soft spots pumping mud since it's rained. Too bad you probably won't be around if they get some MOW equipment on site. Regardless, thanks again, Red for your time and effort. It's much appreciated!

Canadiana National train #L571 on 16 April 2024 was a long train. That would account for the three locomotives on the front end. The drone footage of this train was great. I liked the fact that you told us about the track that went from the Canadian National mainline that the Iowa Northern Railroad uses to gain access to B Yard, I also liked that you showed us part of the spur that runs off toward the John Derre plant in Waterloo, Iowa. You were at that wooden bridge where you caught Canadian National train #L570 before if I am not mistaken. Somewhere in the back of my mind, I remember hearing you mention that the bridge has two tracks on it and that the second track led to a grain elevator that was damaged in a flood at some time in the past. The video that I comes to mind was uploaded at least a year ago.
@redsiowatrainvideos6645
@redsiowatrainvideos6645 2 ай бұрын
Thanks Thomas! They blocked some crossings for awhile with that long train. That spur heads to the John Deere foundry and a couple other small customers. The actual tractor loading happens with the Iowa Northern on the East side of Waterloo. That would be old CGW trackage. Yes I did a video of that bridge awhile back. The siding has been gone for awhile. I'd fly the drone there but it's restricted air space.
