I am still in school and trying to be a prepper. My parents don't believe in the ways but I know how important it is. I already secretly have a 72-hour bug-out bag for my family (of 4) or a 14 day bug-out bag for me. Continue making great content so I can improve my supplies. Thank You.

You have my utmost respect. I know grown adults who claim that its "too hard" to prep despite having jobs and easy access. You are proof that if you really want to do it, you'll do it. And that most who claim they can't do it, really just don't want to.

What a legend. Keep it up, kid! Make sure to get your money right and avoid debt like the plague. Buy your first vehicle cash. Your first major purchase should be land with a home on it. Everything else can wait. Don't get drug into the rat race of keeping up with the Joneses. You need to start a homestead as soon as you possibly can. When you get bogged down with debt early on in life, it will set you back years.

It’s a good idea to be a prepper for 3-months of food/necessities, but imo….the situation today isn’t that bad compared to much of the recent past: Russia has cried “nuke” for decades (see…the 80s), and the tension was even higher in the Cold War, etc, And literally every time period I have lived through, people were sure “okay..the SHTF event is right around the corner.”

2 days ago, the city where I live was told the snow and ice would be bad for the next several days...and then we would be fine. I bought a few pork roasts, some vegetables, some bread, some candles, and stored water....and prepped for about (3) days...no biggie. 6 pounds of pork and the veggies in the pressure cooker would be enough to last (1) week. Suddenly, the streets couldn't be driven on, BUT, we have plenty of everything for at least a week, not even counting what we already had. The Mrs. never believed in prepping just A LITTLE. Thank you for helping me show her during a week like this, just a little prepping goes a long way!

Because you never know how many will try to eat your supplies . I’m kind of a hoarder . We are only 2 at home . And during Hurricane Maria . I ended feeding between 5 to 8 persons per meal . As my sister ( who is my neighbor) had most meals at home . At least she covered most of my non potable water needs and electric generation. So we get even . But we ended getting my aunt and my cousin/ husband living at home for almost 4 months. For who we had to cover most expenses. Including food and water . At least my food and potable water reserves ( which originally were for only 2 ) . Were good enough to feed all those people for a full month . Without the need to go buy food .

I was kinda expecting a step by step guide with a checklist. This is some of that but I guess it's not as simple as a one size fits all thing. I love to simplify: 1. If you're out of shape, shape up. 2. If you're in need of surgery, get yourself fixed. 3. Get the things ( insert checklist here but basically: water, food, gear) 4. Get to know the area where you plan to be, bug out loc., or bug in 5. Up your security, safety 6. Build special skills and actually try to do the survival things 7. Learn to function under stress 8. Find like minded people and build a team 9. Get right with God. .... great video, thank you.

Because of your videos recommending not putting off surgeries etc that would be helpful, one year ago I finally spent the $4,000 to go ahead and get LASIK. I had been putting it off for years until your advice inspired me. One of the best decisions I’ve ever made for myself. Whereas before I could barely see arms length from my face, now I have 15/20 vision (better than 20/20) and I can see a squirrel in the grass across acres of land. Now I can tell you how important your visual acuity is for survival. Plus, I no longer have to worry about carrying glasses or having them break. Anyone that has the money and poor vision- seriously consider vision correction. As a bonus outside of “prepping” it has improved my overall quality of life. I also did the same with dental and now make sure my dental health is always 100% and any work is always done ASAP. Thanks for the advice and push to action, CP!

I grew up as a kid in Mooloolaba, Australia. It was a small farming (less than 100,00 acres) and fishing community - we lived in the middle on nowhere, and my old man established what we called 'the pantry' - it had canned food, dry food, water, ammunition, dog and cat food, fuel for the generator and ute (truck to you yanks), because we could be cut off (and often were) by cyclones (hurricanes to the yanks and poms), floods, drought and bushfires. Dad reckoned it would take the gov'mint at least three days to get its shit together and at least two weeks to start doing anything productive - so 'the pantry' had enough to last the family at least a three weeks. He cleared the bush, so the nearest tree was fifty yards from the house, my brothers and I (not very willingly) were tasked in the spring to rake up all the gum leaves (natures fire bombs) and burn them in the barbecue. Was he an early 'prepper? No. We called it just being prepared for whatever crap nature and man can show at you. What I take from the fire disaster in Oz is a few things - people seemed woefully unprepared - the greenies have been preventing 'spring burn-offs' (like the aborigines used to do) because it pollutes the atmosphere and releases carbon - well greenies, look up now and estimate how much CO2 has been released into the atmosphere. It's a cruel world.

I just signed up for a HAM radio class and test. It was free and the test only cost $15. This is something I have wanted to do for a long time. I also have current First Aid training and plans to take the wilderness first aid in June. (I have commented before under my personal account. Started my own channel :) ). I have always been of the prepared mind, starting with Girl Scouts 15+ years ago. Then the military and at home. Then someone (family) blabbed to their co-workers that I "was into that kind of thing" and they said they would come to my house... BS. So I decided to take a break and reevaluate. Then as I was getting back into it I got cancer and put on life sustaining medications. For about a year, I was depressed and couldn't get extra meds from my providers, in case of an emergency. But then one day, I decided to take another first aid class and I have slowly been able to get enough meds for a month backup. This is really the only hobby I have ever known and it is hard to quit because "I am just going to die anyways". I am starting to train my daughter because one day I will die and she needs to learn this stuff. Sorry about the rant, just wanted to say, you are one of the ones that have re-motivated me to do what I love. Thanks.

For most people, The idea of bugging out is ridiculous. 90% of the people will need to bug in for survival - Buy extra stuff of what you already eat - have a way to filter water - stock up on medication and glasses, etc. - get a rifle, pistol and shotgun for each adult in your home. If you can do that for 3 months you are literally better than 95% of the people

IMHO one of the most overlooked things at the bottom of prepping needs is having savings. Sure, having a small BOB might come first, but before you spend a fortune, make sure that you got enough savings to bridge the time between a job loss and finding a new job. In Europe, you got a lot of aid from the state, but due to bureaucratic reasons, I get nothing! (I'm expecting to get money from my previous employer, thus I don't apply as in need, but the promised money is overdue for many months!)

There are most certainly several different ways to get started in preparedness, and several levels of what could be considered 'an emergency situation'. And where you start also depends on your current living situation, existing knowledge, available budget, etc. This video is trying to give new people to prepping at least a structured way to be able to think about preparedness, and in line with the other content on this channel, is mainly focused to be more prepared for full blown SHTF situations... still though, starting to being prepared, is always better than not having anything at all, and once you get started and figure out the way of thinking, savings should quickly come up.

I'd think I would agree with this, however I think the best way to start prepping is by having fun, e.g. go camping in a non-service camping field, start with just an overnight one and increase from that, try challenging yourself by reducing your gear down whilst you get more experience. Once you can go two weeks or so on just what you have in a rucksack you'll be in a good starting place. Second thing is gamify off-grid home, e.g. do not use any mains gas, water, electric, internet, etc. last one in the family to succumb to going back to the grid is awarded with a chore free week, when everyone can do it for at least a day, up the ante by actually turning everything off at the mains. If the above two is something you really don't want to do, well either find a way to make it more appealing or otherwise I have some bad news for you when SHTF occurs. This method is designed by showing you what you actually need on a day to day basis to get through it, this will prevent you from buying a whole lot of things that look practical but aren't and concentrate on pain points like having water storage or experience that this good value freeze dried camping food is rather nauseating. On a related note, the village (in Germany) where I grew up in had an old fashioned and reclusive farmer (what you would call these days a permaculture farmer), he was never connected to electricity grid as he refused to electric companies poles through his property, he relied on an old school diesel generator and a humongous bank of submarine lead-acid batteries, the type that are fully serviceable. About every year or so he would order diesel in to fill his tanks. Due to some seismic shifts by the nearby open pit coal mine our village was practically cut off from the outside world for three days. That weeks Sunday at church I asked him how he was doing and he replied with, well I am very confused, I see that everyone is rather upset but to be honest I haven't noticed anything, hope next time you would just ask me, I have plenty of cannings that last me practically a lifetime. And that is how I got into prepping by the way, or as the old Werner would say, simply live every day (einfach jeden Tag leben).

Like the thoughts going on behind this video, structuring etc ... though the video as a whole may have been better served as a series, spending an episode on each level in the pyramid, instead of cramming everything into one.

As an individual that is more advanced in preparedness, I find this video to be an excellent and comprehensive source of info for those who are unaware of what's to come. I shared this with a female friend who has never prepared and this gave her the neccessary motivation. I welcome the beginner videos. It allows me to share a perspective to individuals who previously thought I was crazy, presented in a seemingly more rational package!

I live in Texas.. hot hot hot.. but .. we had the worst snow storm in history in Feb.. and electricity went off for about 5 days.. it was intermittent after 3 solid days of no heat, no lights..I live in apt.. all electric.. meant no way to cook food.. I only have 2 candles and I was lucky.. I had some camping gear.. sleeping bag.. and I had a propane tent heater.. But nothing else.. I had to go to my car.. run it and sleep in the heater one night... this also charged my phone. I have decided I will never be that unprepared ever again.. plus.. We regularly have issues with hurricanes.. I will make myself as prepared as I can.

Here in Australia prep for bushfire survival. Can't rely on government to save you. One big thing that stood out was when power went down physical cash was in desperate need. Fuel stations and supermarkets only excepted cash as plastic cards and smart phones no longer worked. People resorted to theft because of this. Super market shelves emptied as roads were cut. Most people were helpful/good to each other despite the hardship which was good to see.

One thing I did to start out was make a power outage bucket with supplies which is now a storage tote. I also made several Power outage buckets for family and friends to get them started. It never hurts to start small plus you can find out what you need more than others.

Bugout bag for myself done. Need to get one for my wife and older son. Bugout van just needs a solar setup and its done. Slept in it at -15C and was still toasty. Preserves we grew look like they'll last until next grow season. Granted, prepping is kind of my new hobby until the kids are older; we are planning on going off grid far away.

Tonight when I worked out I thought to myself, at least I'm doing something. Because I often feel overwhelmed trying to prep for everything I sometimes feel stagnant like I'm not doing enough. I thought about it when I was working out how important it is to be in good shape. Then it was the first thing in the video. That makes me feel a little better. Prepping can honestly be stressful trying to predict possible scenarios and having a good game plan for them. Working out is also a good way to stay grounded and wear yourself out for some good sleep.
