Aboard the International Space Station, Expedition 34 Flight Engineer Chris Hadfield of the Canadian Space Agency discussed the progress of his mission on the orbital outpost with the Canadian television network CTV during an in-flight interview February 28. Hadfield will become the first Canadian commander of the space station in two weeks after three of his crewmates, including the current commander, Kevin Ford of NASA depart the complex for their trip back to the Earth in a Russian Soyuz spacecraft.

Canadian's are just the nicest people on earth,now they're the nicest people in space :)

They aren't really the "nicest". Don't forget that all nationalities that are included in the ISS are very very nice too. The Russians and the Americans treat each other with so much respect it's crazy. If you've watched some videos of the Expediton 40/41 then you'll see how they interact. The Russians and the Americans are always sharing a laugh and you think it's weird because we were former enemies in the Cold War. But when something is space related they push those things to the side and act as one big whole.

kylixx You're still pretty hostile with eachother, but right now it's just threats, and insults to eachother. In space of course it's different, they don't have an army to side with them.

The Canadian Moose Because in space their survival depends on working as a team. Remember there are 6 people on the ISS at a time out of the 7 billion people currently living on this planet. Up there, there are no borders. I could only imagine the paradigm shift that must occur in these astronauts while seeing the Earth from this perspective. All of your ideologies about your national pride, your religion, ect.. must all just fall apart after a while.
@spbeats187
@spbeats187 9 жыл бұрын
kylixx No, nobody would think it's weird because of that. If you can't have a laugh with a Russian because it was your enemy in the Cold War several years ago in which he probably didn't even participate, you're small minded.

I love that there's so much intrigue and science and unprecedented information (for some, who've never experienced life from an astronaut's perspective) and visual stimulus in this video, and most of the comments have to do with Hadfield using hockey rinks as his estimated unit of measurement. Unground your minds, guys! This is exciting stuff he's talking about

There is no medium in space for heat to travel via, so overheating is the biggest issue on the ISS, so PC's and such are designed to maximise airflow cooling and to get that to heat sinks for radiation.
