Canal Loop MTB Trail in Land Between the Lakes

Join us as take our first ride on the Canal Loop, which is the premiere MTB Trail in Land Between the Lakes Natiaonal Recreation Area. Starting at the North Welcome Station, we made a counterclockwise loop on this super scenic trail, which offers views of Lake Barkley, the Barkley Canal, and Kentucky Lake. Overall this trail is flowy, with lots of ups and downs, and a few challenging climbs.

That damage was from wind from a storm about 2 months ago the tornado damage was a little south of there, a lot of great people that ride and hike the trails put in various amounts of work to keep it in great shape, thanks for showing it off

My job used to take me out towards Paducah pretty often and I would always bring my bike along to ride this trail during off hours. It’s so good, best I’ve ridden in KY!

They’ve done a wonderful job of maintaining this trail, we have some awesome volunteers that keeps this trail going for future generations, A few years ago we called the root canal because of all the tree roots lol, but they keep this trail going in the right direction. Great video. Thanks for sharing.

I enjoy your channel/videos, Especially this one as back in the 90”s I put several miles in on this trail during the day and we would also go up at night and ride it which was awesome. I got back into mountain biking earlier this year as I’ve reached 61 and was out of shape and with Dr advise to get my strength up especially in my legs to prepare me for knee replacement which ill be having Sept 29th. I’m actually going today to ride the canal loop for the first time in 30 years. Once i get through my knee surgery and recover i want to hook up with you guys and do a riding. I live outside Bowlinggreen Ky.

Thank for the kudos. In the direction we rode it (counterclockwise), there were a couple of more challenging climbs at the end (where I was walking sections). But, overall, climbs are gradual. I'm not a great climber, but I really enjoyed this ride.

Came across your channel. Looks great! Very informative. Looking to do more riding in LBL. Do you recommend any trails that come out of a campground for staying over night?

@@KruisinKevin There are lots of offerings for cycling, in LBL, and the surrounding area and lots of campground options, both in LBL and in nearby state parks. (Some of those might be better suited to your needs, if you want things like a bath house, with a shower.). Are you primarily interested in MTBing or do you want to do gravel riding as well? My recommendations would be different depending on what type riding you want to do.

@@KentuckyCycling Fenton campground looks good. It’s next to Central Hardwoods scenic trial. Looks promising

@@KruisinKevin That’s a no reservation required place with no showers. If you want showers, head across Kentucky Lake to KenLake State Park, which is within riding distance of the trail.
