I have a question for anyone reading this: do you think a folding Brompton bike would do okay on this path? I have any idea to park my car at Blackwell, and tow my kayak up river to Ansonia, then paddle back down river to my car. But the Brompton bike is key, since it folds up small.
@KentuckyCycling21 сағат бұрын
Are you asking just about the rail trail or the whole route? Also, what are the width of your tires on the Brompton and what is the tread pattern like?

This trail is part of my personal history. When I was young we lived in Cook County and occasionally my parents would toss their folding Raleigh bikes and my bike in the trunk and we would head to Chicago for a bike ride. Lots of good memories including the time we met a guy walking his pet skunk.

We were in Chicago last month, and I even had my bike with me, but I didn't get a chance to ride any in Chicago. Hit up some in St. Louis and a section of the Katy Trail, though. Pretty cool.

@@KentuckyCycling I was on a Midwest Ag Tour and just threw my bike in to carry along for the trip, just in case. Ended up staying in St Louis, so I rode to the Arch, then one of the farms that I was touring ended up being in Defiance, MO so I took a couple of hours to ride while there. It was neat. Now I want to go back and ride the entire thing. Btw, finally got those Moloko bars. Really liking them so far. I’ve just got about 75 miles on them so far, but plan to add a few more before school starts back up.

Fantastic video, very well done thank you sir! I love the Creeper and enjoy riding there yr round and camping more than halfway up - roughing it.😁. I didn't know of the campground past White Top! I'm an old school mt. bike camper w/huge panniers and a bike is at 100lbs loaded - good exercise. But bikepacking looks pretty cool, though. Winter is perfect out there, nothing more beautiful than a fresh snowfall and heading home in the morning...

Where in KY are you? I used to live around Covington, Newport and Highland Heights while attending NKU. I'm just getting into bikepacking touring and I'm living about 45 minutes north of Cincinnati around Xenia. My first trip I want to do the Erie Trail and I'm just setting up my bike, a Kent Trevaille, that I'm upgrading considerably. Naturehike Cloud up 2 is a great tent. I'm not spending $4-500 on a small tent. Thats just crazy.

We rode about 35 miles. See ridewithgps.com/routes/46728577 (also in KZfaq video description). At the time of our ride, the parking rate was $7 for a vehicle without a horse trailer..

Hi Nathan, How are you doing .?Im from India, recently had surgery and its been 6 weeks and Im also a cyclist as an hobby, As Im now going through the rehab process and How is it with your shoulder now after this long. Its to 100% normal. How is it with cycling do you feel anything now.
@KentuckyCyclingАй бұрын
Hi @harsha19921. I would not say that I am back to what I was prior to the injury. I would, however, say that I'm much better off for having had the surgery. These days, I prefer a more upright riding position, in part due to my shoulder, and have adjusted my riding position accordingly.

what bikes did you use? I have a mountain bike, but I have heard various opinions about this. Also, are there any majorly high bridges you have to cross (I'm afraid of heights!)
@KentuckyCyclingАй бұрын
Two of us were on gravel bikes. The other was on a MTB where he swapped out his suspension fork for a rigid fork and put on gravel tires, basically making it a flat bar gravel bike. There's a lot of overlap between gravel bikes with wider tires and MTB bikes. If I were riding a MTB, I'd want it to be either fully rigid or a fork where you can lock out the suspension. I also would not opt for super knobby wheels. I have ridden with folks on gravel rail trails who rode hardtail MTBs are were happy with their choice. Hope that helps.

Can you take a Lectric 3.0 on the PIne Creek Rail Trail? It has full throttle if needed, but it doesn't look like this trail would need it.

See this page for their eBike policy. It looks like they don't allow the use of the throttle only, but ped assist bikes are OK. www.dcnr.pa.gov/StateForests/FindAForest/Tioga/Pages/Biking.aspx#:~:text=E%2Dbikes%20are%20permitted%20on,an%20e%2Dbike%20without%20pedaling.
