When I really listened to these lyrics, they seemed pretty straightforward. "Scared I'll be torn apart by a wolf in mask of familiar name on a birthday card" - this would be /her/ name on a birthday card. It is confirmed that this is referring to herself in the line "you're too old to be so shy, he says to *me*". The wolf is age/time. She is comparing time to a predator (wolf), and it's in "mask" of a birthday card, because a birthday is a celebratory occasion but also measures the passing of time since your birth. "You're too old to be so shy, he says to me, so I stay the night" - this reinforcing the idea that she's feeling as if sex is something she *should* be doing/have done at her age. "I stay the night" and "We both know I'll never be your lover" reinforce the idea that she already knows that whoever she is with is not someone with which she has a future. "Things cannot be reversed" - this can be seen as her saying 'time does not go backwards' (she is not going to get any younger and/or cannot undo her choice to "stay the night") In short, the lyrics imply that she feels pressed for time, pressured into something she isn't sure about by her "young mind", time, and youth's impermanence.

And to add one more thing, "I have brittle bones, it seems. I bite my tongue, and I torch my dreams. I have a little voice to speak with, and a mind of thoughts and secrecy." This implies regret. It's self-patronizing, even suggesting a level of contempt. "I have brittle bones" can be thought of as a reference to phrases like "spineless" meaning "I'm not tough". "I have a little voice to speak with, and a mind of thoughts and secrecy" probably means that she has plenty of opinions, but never voices them. She's saying that by being overly complacent and always biting her tongue, she's "torching her dreams", a statement that seems contemptuous; 'I was weak-minded. I did something I wasn't sure about because everyone else my age is doing it.'

Unbelievably euphoric. Her voice is soothing to me. It eases all discomfort, emotional and physical. So much feeling.

I think it is about being so enamored by someone that you'll do anything they want, maybe acting out of character because of the circumstances, but simultaneously keeping in mind that one can love with as much passion as one can hate (wolf in a mask). You may know that you cannot mesh your life with someone given whatever circumstances or wrong timing so you think of yourself as just filling space but you both remain in awe of the moments that you share(wide eyed in silence).Experiences shape u.

I think this song embodies a loss of innocence & naivety. She's another year older, perhaps, what she would refer to as the coming of age. A familiar boy, one she has probably known for a while sweeps her off her feet. In the heat of the moment she ends up losing her virginity (which is why she says "both in silence wide eyed like we're in a crime scene") The boy ends up being the wolf in masked, he in the reason why she has lost her innocence; the reason as to why she "only brings the heat.'

I love this song, because you can have about 10 different explanations for what she is talking about but no one knows for sure.. it just means that 10 different people with 10 different problems can relate to this song. It's the beauty of all her songs.

I think it's about being in a relationship where she's so young and naive and hasn't really experienced much. The boy forces her into doing things and she goes along with it because she thinks that you're supposed to do these things when you grow up but afterwards she realizes that maybe she shouldn't have done it. Maybe she should have waited.

In my mind its about a girl who is in love with a boy, and he was with her at first, but he got scared and doesnt want to date her anymore. He wants to be with her physically, not emotional. And she knows he's using her but she can't force herself out of love with him. im in this boat with her.

this song is about the emotional contemplation of a person about to have their first casual sex, and the fear of not being approved of by their own morals and the morals of her family. I also think this person starts to feel emotions to this boy that she souldn't have, because she knows it's just casual.

Queenoroses this song is actually about rape from the SO. The line, "'you're too old to be so shy' he says to me so I stay the night" means that he pretty much said that she should just get over her reason(s) for not consenting. She feels over powered in this struggle and lets him have his way despite her dismay.

The rape theory could make sense to an extent, and I won't say that it's *wrong*, and I won't say that I can't be mistaken about this (in fact you could interpret many things in this song in *slightly* different ways), but I will say that the song itself does not (here again, could have overlooked something) explicitly mention or at any point in the lyrics confirm that any of this is about rape, or even imply that it's non-consensual. In fact, I'd almost think the opposite when seeing the casual English used in phrases like "company under covers" and more than that "I stay the night".

The abuse by her father probably also explains her artist name. "Daughter", like her relationship with her father (being his daughter) is the only thing that determined her entire identity.

I think it's about her father. How she was abused by him, and how she cannot love anymore because of him. "Scared I'll be torn apart by a wolf in mask of a familiar name on a birthday card" which is the name of her father on the birthday card (maybe she doesn't see him anymore?) "You're too old to be so shy" Is a boy telling her that, pushing her. She then continues to have sex with him, but she shall never love him.

I felt like it was a boy(possibly older) she grew up with and fell in love with then one day she goes to his house and he forces her through guilt to have sex with him which is considered rape but she continues to because she probably becomes terrified of what he can become and she still loves him even though its just physical for him.... Just my opinion no one get angry lol
