I take a stab at trying to make one of my favorite processed fall candies: candy corn, starting from actual corn.

Thank you to Twin Cities Maze for letting us use their corn:

|| ABOUT ||
Today, getting what you need is as easy as a trip to the store. From food to clothing, energy, medicine, and so much more, Andy George will discover what it takes to make everything from scratch. His mission is to understand the complex processes of manufacturing that is often taken for granted and do it all himself. Each week he’s traveling the world to bypass the modern supply chain in order to harvest raw materials straight from the source. Along the way, he’s answering the questions you never thought to ask.

Dude, you don't make a negative mold out of the wood, you make a positive mold out of wood. Then create a bed of corn starch and press the positive into that to make the negative mold. Then you pour your syrup into that.

@Bartosz I would think actual corn is too small and using candy corn would go against the idea of making it himself... But yeah, He could do that, use clay or something instead of carving it out of wood.

I was going to suggest to make your molds, maybe making small cones out of wax paper and placing them into holes on the 2x4? Also, another cheap way of making a centrifuge is by using a salad spinner, but I think your method worked well.

Our halloween special...just a couple days late. This attempt at Candy Corn ended up being a bit rushed because of other production setbacks with cosmetics, but future versions should hopefully have some better results. Let m know what types of candies and sweets you'd like to see us make next! Jelly Beans for Easter is the next one on my mind for attempting.

I think I know what is wrong with your turmeric and other greens. You using too big pots. I have similar problem with my ginger (watered once and to this day the soil in pot is wet). It's better to start with small container ( like 11cm in diameter and 9cm in height) and then as roots grow, repot them in something bigger.

Hey there Andy, first of all I realy enjoy your Content alot alltho I cant support you financially sadly. I have been subscribed for a very long time, thanks for the awesome Content. But now for some on this Episode Feedback: So lately you mentioned that you are going to try something new, but today i got a little spooked by this video because the narration(animated scenes and video-clips of previous projects relationg to the current video), explainations(why you used certain methods, ressources and why you did not use others) and overall productionquality(cuts, camerasettings, angles and lighting) felt a bit off or rather. I assume and hope this is because you were on a very tight schedule(thats the pain about festive events i guess^^), and probably ran out of time half way through, and well, its also very expensive to do. Now some overall Feedback: I very much enjoy all your previous Videos, you can really see that you put so much effort into this and i think it pay off, your videos are of very high producion quality. Your Channel is one of the very vew Channels i know every Video will be well made and very interesting no matter the topic because you allways work up the backgroundknowledge so its easy to understand and interesting. Also the Animation-style and Choice of Music fits nicely. I hope that you can keep this Channel up for as long as you want, and that i can maybe financially support you in the future. PS: Andy at least try to make less of a mess in the Kitchen ;) There surely will be lots of mistakes cuz my english is bad and i cant be bothered^^

You can't make white sugar without bleaching it
@googleeatsdicks
@googleeatsdicks 6 жыл бұрын
This is bullshit. Sugar isn't bleached. The crystals are centrifuged, washed with water and dried. What remains is molasses and the sugar water which is then reprocessed.
@arachnenet2244
@arachnenet2244 6 жыл бұрын
well, in it's liquid form it isn't a crystal. a crystal is a solid with the molecules arranged in a repeating pattern.
@googleeatsdicks
@googleeatsdicks 6 жыл бұрын
Yeah that's a nice definition, but what is your point exactly? The sugar crystals are suspended in a saturated solution. This solution is centrifuged. The centrifugate consists of molasses. The collected crystals are washed with water and dried. And the washing water goes back to the starting point of the whole process.

For candy corn you don't really use a mold, you create three long strips of colored candy forming it into one long candy corn. It should look like a very wide wedge shape. Then you cut the strip into individual candies. Cool video though, keep up the great work

I do not think that bone has enough collagen, to make enough gelatin. EDIT:You're taking shortcuts EDIT: I literally asked Google and got quite a few hits one from the food network. Ingredients as follows: confectioners sugar, nonfat dry milk, kosher salt, granulated sugar, light corn syrup, water unsalted butter, vanilla extract, yellow and orange gel paste food coloring. It comes out dough-y and you roll it out then f cut it with a knife or pizza cutter. So did you even research it. What happened to the guy who made the chicken sandwich from scratch?
