I always wanted to be a teddy bear repair technician or a pet psychic. I met a pet psychic once, she gave me a reading on my dog. Can't say how accurate it was because my dog didn't verify the information. Then she did a reading on my neighbor's parakeet. When I asked how she became a pet psychic she said a horse kicked her in the head and after that she began to communicate telepathically with animals. True story.

The breakdown of fireworks 🎆was great. Terrible & bizarre lady. That many ax swings: huge anger/psychopathy. Narcissists can't be alone, need drama. Thanks Fellas again, good to see you have some laughs 😊💚😁

I too was shocked at the 41 axe swings. I don't know that I could swing a full sized axe even 1 time and actually hit something except maybe my foot or leg, but 41 times no way. That was a serious adrenaline rush to give her that kind of strength!

That was a very personal murder. Hacking someone with that much overkill, to where you see them down and of no threat and to continue to hack away at their flesh is very personal! Candy clearly was jealous and grew to have a lot of animosity towards Betty. If I were Betty’s family I would have put one straight through the middle of her head then said it was self defense😭🤣🤣 I just wouldn’t have been able to let it go peacefully if my daughter had gotten hacked like that.

For years I changed all sizes and types of tires. Granted it's not an axe, the tire hammer also takes a lot of endurance and strength. Even on a good day at my peak, 40+ swings is not easy to do. It's correct to assume the rage behind the axe was intense and terrifying

My grandparents had a rotary phone in their kitchen. I was born in 84. And also, I still to this day thoroughly enjoy messing with telemarketers. As a kid, all but one phone in the house was cordless and I would usually sit and watch WWF wrestling with my best friend at his house and both of us just sitting on the phone with the occasional "whoop" or "dude, did you see that!?". Then, every time I would use the corded phone in the computer room - every single time - I would pick up the receiver and walk too far away and it would go flying out of my hand and across the room. Much to the dismay of my mother lol

There was a case in Brisbane, Australia in 2011 where a mother killed her 14 yr old daughter with an axe after taking antipsychotic meds. She then drove to the a bridge with her young son. She parked in the middle of the bridge then ran out and jumped off it. The son was left in the car I believe. The Sidonie Thompson murder.

This was a great episode! I have call out Mike though-if you built a tiny DeLorean, you could obviously build a tiny shrink ray to make yourself, well, tiny so you could go back in time and be on Candy’s jury. You’d be the hero that saves the day, or at least the lone disgruntled voice of sanity. I’m not trying to be harsh, but it seems like you’re slacking a little bit. I vote for the volleyball net. Or a Tupperware container with a post it note on it that says “Shhhh, love Candy.”

This case would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic. There are just so many peculiar items in it. The carefully crafted affair, only to render an unfulfilling experience.😆🤣 The shh defense, that was just ridiculous.🙄The axe sitting at the right place and time just in case a murder occurs. The 41 axe swings. Candy taking a shower after the murder and leaving the baby in the house.😣And finally, the most offensive item- Candy becoming a counselor, the audacity! I mean, just an unreal case at so many levels. I found it quite interesting Candy’s perception of how fireworks must happen.😂 One of the requirements for fireworks or magical relationships to occur is precisely the novelty, the surprise element and the amazement provoked on one another. By planning this affair so very carefully she was literally killing any potential for fireworks to take place. That’s just my opinion…😁 Lovely podcast as usual. On a side note, I hope that you can do more interviews like the one you did with Seth. I absolutely love listening to people’s stories, that’s a big part of what makes the person that I am today. I have always learned so much from people’s experiences. Anyways, fantastic job as usual. Much love.❤️❤️❤️

A lot of murder crime stories are funny in a way. I have only ever liked True Crime not much in to other stuff. Most are way crazy horrible but after the initial story I may watch here or there of a crime, I can see humor on it. If you like this you should watch True Crime Losers series on certain crimes. He’s a comedian that goes over interviews of criminals. He doesn’t show footage he just mostly does series on the interview statements. Adding his input which is so funny. He also is behind a couple other shows like Jim Can’t swim. I don’t think that one but similar maybe. But check him out.

How did Betty find out about the affair? Did she really confront Candy about the affair, or is this something Candy made up?
@pjewellful2012 Жыл бұрын
The state never even questioned witnesses about that, they didn’t question her about darn near anything to find out when she was lying. This should have been a much much longer trail . That entire church community should have been called up as witnesses and questioned. But regardless how did she get zero charges at all? Why would the state not ask the grand jury to tag on lesser charges, she clearly did not report and she destroyed evidence. She also left he poor baby to die knowing her husband was not coming home for days. This was a terrible injustice😞

Gas prices in the last 70s were between 25 and 35 cents a gallon and we were experiencing a terrible recession and wages low so that was a lot of money. They're was interest in the middle east that double those prices. It was hard to come up with that amount of cash.

(sorry I'm late to the party) can you talk about mental health issues related to pregnancy and postpartum? Post partum depression is talked about a lot, but it wasn't until after my second I learned that I was exhibiting OCD symptoms while pregnant. I saw some literature suggesting that a lot of mental health issues can exhibit during pregnancy, not just depression. Do you all have some thoughts on that? Perhaps there's a case that could touch on that topic?
@jpincinjr2 жыл бұрын
Good comment. Thanks Stephanie. You're right that a lot can happen with one's mental health during and after pregnancy. Same thing goes for the partner that's not pregnant, although I'm not aware of literature that backs this up. That would only be anecdotal. I have some experience treating postpartum OCD. I think this would be a great thing to talk about. Thanks for bringing it up!

@jpincinjr2 жыл бұрын
ERP, CBT, and ACT. Nothing revolutionary, but effective. Have you found success with any or all of those therapies? I hope so
@jennyhobbs75562 жыл бұрын
@@jpincinjr Yes, but not completely. I'm in the UK and was lucky enough to get treatment on the NHS, however it was only for a set amount of time, so although I do use tools from the above treatments, unfortunately I haven't been able to continue, as I have not had the money, as of yet, to pay privately. I am on antidepressant medication though, which helps with my anxiety levels, which in turn, makes it easier for me to deal with the intrusive thoughts
@jpincinjr2 жыл бұрын
@@jennyhobbs7556 That's a shame. Maintenance and checking up is so important. Forgive my ignorance, but is therapy not covered by insurance in the UK?
@jennyhobbs75562 жыл бұрын
@Jeff Pincin We don't have insurance as such; we have the national health service (NHS), which is free at the point of delivery, and is paid for via taxation. You can pay for private healthcare, but it is usually too expensive for the average worker. Mental health services (supplied by the NHS) are not the best in the UK; it seems easier to put everyone on medication rather than give them therapy. As I was functioning as a 'normal' person by the end of my treatment, I was signed off as no longer needing help, which is the normal procedure with the NHS. Basically, I was no longer distressed or 'ill' enough to receive continued treatment
@jpincinjr2 жыл бұрын
@@jennyhobbs7556 Thanks for the lesson on that. I can understand your plight, then, and probably that of many others, where you need ongoing therapy, but once you're "functional" then you are cut off. That's a shame. In case they offer it in your area, and in case it is helpful with payment plans for the cost, I hope you've checked out NOCD for OCD treatment.

Was this an isolated incidence of violence in Candy's history? It was such a violent episode, much less understandable than shooting a gun. How do you explain it? I don't think many women are capable of something like this unless they are under the influence of a dissociative drug. In the case of Amy Bishop, there was a long history of violent episodes, but even her crimes involved guns, not bludgeoning. This is super weird.

So she kills her with an axe when she is shushed but not when she hit her with it after saying i'm going to kill u..sure candy... taking her kid for 2 nights, something she never did...sure candy... grab hold of the axe u have the weapon threat contained... the Sssh could have been betty's force of habit when she heard her baby cry and wasn't directed at candy if this even happened at all..,. she basically admitted to flying into a rage.. anger kill not self defense..i think she went there to kill her with a knife or something and somehow it got out of reach when she attacked her, hence the axe grabbed by betty to defend herself...candy even quieted down the screaming baby there was betty's blood on the kid..so she held him changed him showered and left. i could go on and on about how her version made no sense.
