www.modernmartialartist.com/do... Canelo Alvarez is one of the most talented boxers of this generation. He incorporates an odd mixture of seemingly contrasting techniques that, nonetheless, work incredibly well together, creating a style that’s both unique and highly entertaining.
Canelo employs relatively narrow, sideways stance but uses it in conjunction with a forward, squared up guard. His long, bladed stance allows for great linear movement, allowing him to explode in and out very quickly. It also lets him lean far back, adding a fair amount of defensive head movement to his toolkit. At the same time, his squared up upper body positions his rear hand closer to his opponent, helping to facilitate his Lightning Fast counters.

Hotters 7060. Not at all. Canelo doesn't use excessive holding and clinching like Floyd. They're both counter punchers but that's where the similarities end. Canelo is a power puncher who looks to hurt you with every punch while Floyd looks to outpoint his opponents. Floyd has better footwork although canelo has improved in that area.

micko9111 Again with these excuses. First it was Running like Floyd Mayweather Jr, and then the boxing gloves that Canelo Alvarez wanted to use called no boxing no life, and then the amount of tape being wrapped around the hands, and now Golovkin is too old????? You Golovkin fans now have so many excuses after the fight on Saturday. Canelo Alvarez beat Golovkin because he is a skillful fighter. Old age has nothing to do with it. Floyd Mayweather was way older than Canelo Alvarez when he beat him in 2013. Floyd Mayweather Jr even beat Conor McGregor in boxing last year in 2017 and he was already old by then so don't give me no excuses. As a matter of a fact Conor McGregor is a younger man than Floyd Mayweather Jr. Canelo Alvarez did a better job than Golovkin in the ring.

He got high level of skills, but damn, why do they have to give him a special treatment in the ring? Is it because most talented boxers nowadays are not American? Floyd Boring Mayweather destroy boxing with all this corruptions.

Your analysis also sheds light on why GGG found Canelo so difficult the first time. Because GGG hasn't had the recognition or big paydays he deserves, I feel in fairness he ought to win the return, but I think that Canelo, having youth on his side, will be able to learn more from the first fight and adapt more effectively. So...Canelo on points...unfortunately. What do you think, MMA?

Rippiripper Floyd Mayweather Jr had a big influence on CANELO ALVAREZ. After CANELO ALVAREZ was beaten by Floyd Mayweather Jr, he probably studied and practiced those defensive skills. Gennady GGG Golovkin is a good boxer, but the only thing he can do is come forward. Golovkin has trouble with speed and defensive skills. When Golovkin is being pushed back, he loses power.

Canelo has always been one of my favorite fighters to watch, ever since I got into boxing a few years ago. I just wish he didn't have such an awful management team. The constant scandals, whether it's the underlying theme of corruption in his fights or the recent steroid fiasco, make it really hard to cheer for him nowdays, and I'm afraid his legacy will forever be stained by them. I'm going into the upcoming GGG vs. Canelo fight hoping GGG will win. But realistically? In these type of matchups, the counter-puncher usually only gets stronger with each successive meeting. Last time was close, I get the feeling Canelo will manage to edge it out this time around.

strutherhill Honestly I don't have a horse in this race, I just hope whoever wins, wins decisively so there's no crying from either lol you get what I mean? I don't understand why people can't just like both, they're both brilliant boxers. I prefer GGG's style better, seeing him parry punches off his forehead is sick, but a guy like Canelo can definitely capitalize on that since GGG willingly runs into punches.
@strutherhill
@strutherhill 6 жыл бұрын
Harleyzeth + I understand what you mean and absolutely agree. (Well, almost. If I'm honest, I'd probably slightly favour GGG because he didn't get the recognition or big paydays he deserved, partly because he didn't have a huge local fanbase and other boxers did duck him a few times.) Anyway, none of that's Canelo's fault! Let's hope for a great fight and a clear winner.

He has OK footwork now but he shows it more in some fights like vs Smith his footwork was very good one thing people should know is footwork means overall foot position in accordance to your opponents position and safety moving in and out of the danger zone unfortunately most people believe footwork means fancy footwork or active feet or even confuse it with being fleet footed none of these equal having great footwork. Most of the fighters famous for having great footwork really only have over active feet which can be bad vs certain styles but not against all The fighters that became legendary are the ones that use both flat footed techniques and moving techniques to their advantage when the situation requires it.

Irvin Morales before making a statement like that perhaps try finding a reputable source of what Clen is and hopefully you are smart enough to realize it has no anabolic properties which doesnt make it a steroid and not to mention that the use it DOES have within the athletic world has nothing to do with hitting harder or performing better, it is simply an illegal fat burner to put it in laments terms for you uneducated and ignorant folks.

Elijah Mikaelson Yes, you just proved my point. It was ILLEGAL for Nelo to have it in his system regardless if it helped him or not. That just makes one wonder whether he's having issues making weight which I really hope he isn't.

Joe Ferrari I dunno if I buy the doping claims. I don't know what clenbuterol is exactly supposed to do performance wise? But surely if Canelo was doping he wouldn't be getting tired halfway through his fights. Surely he would be finishing the 12th round like he started the 1st.

Joe Ferrari Canelo has been criticized for years for having poor stamina and having poor movement, that’s the opposite results for performance enhancing drugs in combat, or moreso, Clenbuterol affects cardio drastically, there’s no way in hell Team Canelo would subject themselves to a Cardio deterrent if they had poor stamina. He would’ve collapsed in training long ago. This proves why many casual fans don’t know shit about boxing

Canelo routine has judges paid off. There is literally always at least ONE that is in his corner. He should have unanimously lost the Mayweather fight, but inexplicably he had a judge in his corner "tying" them. He absolutely lost the Lara fight, but look at the wide score card. He and Golden Boy are awful cheats. It's also that much easier to get away with this when you use clenbuterol to cut massive amounts of weight and then have 20 lbs on an opponent.

soup and old clothes GGG couldnt win 6 rounds with Canelo either according to my score of the first fight. But I love how you said "may" not survive. Is that what you'll be telling yourself everynight before a rematch? Cause I cant remember a single time that a technical boxer or an out-boxer has done worse against an athletic boxer or in-fighter in a rematch EVER in boxing history. It's alwaya vice versa, that's never changed so why dont you care to lecture me on why it would start now?

@@markant9534 I haven't watch the fight yet so l don't know, heard what it was like and saw the scorecard though and l've watch some Bivol stuff before. Sounds like it's a repeat of Mayweather and Golovkin. Canelo seems to have problems dealing with guys with good foot work who can circle and punish with powerful jabs to make distance and openings. I'm not entirely sure why he has problems with that style, i haven't even thought about it too much. You got any thoughts on why he couldn't beat Bivol?
