@Ser Bronn Lighter-weight fighters hit their primes younger, and are used up earlier. Too much reliance on their reflexes, which is the first thing to “leave” a fighter. There are exceptions, but they mostly just prove the rule. Chavez was done as a serious contender by his early thirties. I think I’d have to say that JCC is the greatest fighter whose prime I got to watch in real time. But he was only human. (Not for nothin but Pernell Whitaker best Chavez’ ass and got robbed, so JCC should’ve had his “perfect” record spoiled before he lost to Frankie Randall. That being said, it takes nothing away from the joy I got watching Chavez ply his trade, keeping Mexican Boxing 🥊 going strong after the death of SS. THE GUY WAS A FRIGGIN’ SURGEON. The Meldrick Taylor fight still takes my breath away, even if JCC should have lost. He never stopped body-punching even though Meldrick outscored him badly throughout the entire 12 rounds. And of course the reigning logic regarding Salvador Sanchez says that he would have gone on to dominate the eighties, maybe even setting up more fights against Azumah Nelson. And Jeff Fenech. Sigh. Shit, he and Chavez could and should have fought each other!! Wow, think about THAT! What a matchup... But SS would have hit a wall just like every boxer/athlete does. 23 years old as a Featherweight is more like 30 years old is to a heavyweight. But my point is not to take anything away from SS, he was a ridiculously good boxer who not only robbed himself of a great career, he deprived US, as fans lol... but people no longer living on this plane of existence don’t concern themselves with such things. He hits you on your best def..if you cover your side of the head..he will atack just right there in a few Cms away..so u don't have any def to parry it..and your body automatically will trow a punch to self def..and he will trow a counter..u lost the fight before start.

Til a man named Joe Frazier climbed up the ranks. His style resembles Archie moore. That head movement totally cancelled out Ali's signature jab. Clash of styles went wrong for Ali i guess. And in this era, fighters dont fight not nearly enough as old school fighters. Nowadays its 2 fights a year. which is why I admire tevin farmer for holding 5 titles defenses in a year.

I'm 47 now and my dad introduced me to Boxing in the early 80s. The first big fight I watched was Holmes Vs Cooney. It was a good fight. I remember my dad telling me about Salvador dying young. I always read about how great he was. I'm glad this channel covered him.
