The first big boxing fight of 2013 featured two undefeated, young champions in a super welterweight unification contest in front of almost 40,000 people at the Alamodome of San Antonio, Texas.
Saul Canelo Alvarez (42-0-1) hand-picked Austin “No Doubt” Austin Trout (26-0-0) as dancing partner for this event against the wishes of his promotional company, in the hopes of silencing critics who refused to give him credit given the low quality opposition he has faced so far.
Alvarez receiving winning scores of 115-112, 116-111 and 118-109 to beat Trout.
Some observers speculated the 21-year-old Alvarez wasn't ready for a veteran opponent like Trout, but they didn't realize how personal the bout was to him.

canelo is a tough fighter and he have a good def skills but no heavy punchs. for the same generation if Austin was hitted with these cleans punchs by David Lemieux for exemple he will finish in coma before 12 rounds.

This is a good example of not being able to accurately judge a fight from watching KZfaq highlights. Alvarez was outlanded by 30 punches, and besides the knockdown the rest of the fight would be 10-9 rounds either way. Highlights can make it seem a fighter did much better than they actually did.

@@dopevibestv2988 Austin outlanded and outboxed the bum. The punch stats will say so as well. Roid-nelo also refused to do VADA drug testing and did not do USADA drug testing for the Trout fight. Still, Trout beat up a roided cheat. Facts.
