@@CanineRevolution if he’s inside he will listen. He will sit, stay, speak, wave, shake etc. but there has been a few times when he gets out the door and runs. The first time he was missing for three days when I got him back some people found him and called me from the flyers I put up. I had to rush him to the emergency vet. He shredded himself in razor wire he had a severe infection and a temperature of 104. So not only is it very dangerous him doing this is so stressful and I can’t enjoy him. My black lab will stay right by me outside he listens when called my yellow will straight ignore me if given the choice.

@@CanineRevolution I’ll also add I have tried a shock collar and I don’t know if it didn’t have good connection I mean it worked fine on my black lab but my yellow will not even flinch when I use it.

And I will absolutely use your hated line “that’s what I’ve always called it” to be honest I pretty sure the box says that lol. I’m from southern Ohio and I’ve never heard anyone call it an e collar. Didn’t even know that the was correct term until adulthood. But that’s not the biggest issue here over what to call a tool. No I did not slap it on him and start pressing buttons. I actually watch alot of these channels I also have a friend that trains police K-9 here locally and i adverse with him some but I hate to bug him with questions all the time. I do try any tool I can to better my dogs. As stated before my black lab is trained. I used this same collar. I use the noise, vibrate, SHOCK settings. I don’t think I ever had to use the 3rd one. It’s hard to paint a whole picture of a dogs training and issues in a KZfaq comments section. And of course he doesn’t just “run away” and I’m just confused as to what happened and how he turned the knob. If I knew again another figure of speech was going to trigger you I would have clarified but I will now for you. The first time he ran away the one where he was missing. I was walking him at 7am he had on a training collar you know the ones with the prongs to prevent tugging. I’m assuming the prongs were wore out or got bent (can send a pic) it just fell off him. I immediately called him. He looked straight at me and ran. I called and gave commands he wouldn’t even stop. The second time he got loose my daughter opened the screen door to come out with me and he squeezed out behind her. I again called him and again he ignored his recall. We teach our dogs lots of things both know a lot of party tricks as you call them. My daughter enjoys them and it proves he is absolutely capable of learning and I am capable of teaching him. Me asking this was me trying to engage with a smaller KZfaq channel. See what his advice would be (as stated before he’s not the only person I’ve went to). I don’t feel like giving a whole lot more into your comment here but if you wanna give me your email I can send you some of the videos I took of me working with willie. I also can send you the “graduation” he got from a local trainer, I can send you videos of when he did get away how he completely ignores his recal. YOU are the reason 1 people don’t engage with channels which hurts the channels because people don’t want some random giving their high and mighty I know all answer. 2 people don’t seek help for issues with their dogs because people like you judge them. Me though I will continue to seek knowledge to better mine. To understand why he has this issue.

With the collar, you may not be in contact with his skin properly or it is not at a level effective enough to where he feels it. We have a video on our channel on how to condition your dog to an e-collar, I would highly recommend you check it out and try it with him. As far as when he runs away sometimes, be sure to keep a leash on him if you need to since he has demonstrated no interest in returning back to you when called. During this process I would highly recommend taking him out to your yard and do several training sessions just having him come to you when you call him. When he comes, reward him. All this will be done on the leash. We also have a video on teaching the recall to your dog as well, it sounds like we should do another one in the future so I'll be sure we get another one done so keep an eye out for that.
