Thank you for sharing this and for such a detailed and complete tutorial. I have a number of chairs I've picked up at garage sales with broken caned seats or no seats at all. Now I can turn them into usable chairs.

I'm so thankful to of found your channel! I've had my great great grandmother's kitchen chairs and I didn't want to put one holes in the chair past canning. Now I know I wasn't wrong. You're instructions are lovely, thank you.

I just want to send out a HUGE THANK YOU! I am a furniture refinisher and I have a chair with the same kind of seat that had broken caning. I have never done upholstery before, mind you. But, this chair I have went so well with a vanity I refinished and I just had to try. I did it!!! All due to your video. I watched it I’ll bet 10 times AND I played the video, (pausing when necessary or playing back when needed) while I was upholstering my chair! It’s not perfect, but really good!! I LOVE it! Thank you SO much for sharing your process!!! I am so grateful!!!

Thank you for this! I have an antique bench that is beautiful but the caning is all busted out and it's way too expensive to fix so I was just going to rip out the caning and cover it in canvas but I love this idea because it felt wrong to pull out all that caning.

This is an excellent video of converting cane to upholstery. I bought 6 cane chairs at a garage sale, 4 of which need repairing. I really like this method rather than replacing the cane.

Lovely! Just what I needed to learn. I’m interested in knowing why you didn’t use a lightweight interfacing to add a bit of strength and weight to that thin fabric...maybe you needed the stretch for the curves?

Your video is awesome. Thank you so much. Does this same set of instructions work for a curved bottom caned chair? Do you just not stretch the webbing drum tight in the direction it curves?
