NOTE FROM TED: Please do not look to this talk for medical advice. While cannabis and CBD are an emerging field of study, their associated health effects remain inconclusive and unsupported by current scientific evidence. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give organizers are described in more detail here: storage.ted.com/tedx/manuals/t...
Anecdotal evidence suggests that the health benefits of cannabis are broad ranging and powerful. The science is beginning to say the same thing. So why is there still so much stigma around cannabis? In this funny and enlightening talk, Ashley Reynolds imagines a future where cannabis is an accepted health option. Ashley Reynolds co-founded Elmore Mountain Therapeutics in 2017. She discovered the healing power of CBD after her own battle with postpartum anxiety, and began educating herself about the endocannabinoid system and cannabis as a whole. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at www.ted.com/tedx

I am an alcoholic. Weed relieves my craving for alcohol with far fewer side effects. It's medicine.

As a PTSD sufferer from childhood abuse, my medical cannabis prescription has helped me change my life for the better and stay in college. I still take antidepressants and attend weekly therapy, and cannabis is simply another part of my treatment. Only a year ago I was 100% against recreational marijuana legalization. Now, having tried cannabis and experienced what the actual effects are (less anxiety, depression, and hyper-vigilance, fewer headaches, clearer head and improved focus, improved sleep) I can see how many misconceptions I held about cannabis because of our culture. For me and people with conditions like seizure disorders, cancer, chronic pain, HIV, and many other conditions, cannabis is a medication just like you would take a medication you needed for your heart health.

I cannot wait until we can have normal conversations about the ECS and ECS deficiencies!!!! As someone who suffers from a deficient ECS system, I love this so much, and want to see more people find freedom and life instead of stigma

What I feel is a huge problem is how friends and family react to someone doing cannabis and sometimes just push those people away.

6:13 - generally as small a dose as possible ... cannabis is bi-phasic, where the level of help you receive can reverse if to much is ingested for that particular condition .

I’m 40 and smoked cannabis between 2017 to early 2019 when out of the blue I developed major depression and anxiety. Nothing was wrong in my life. I had a smoke one night then the next day nothing felt real. Still suffering with treatment resistant depression anxiety anhedonia dpdr to this day. I’m not against cannabis though despite my experience. I actually think it would be safer if legalised. That way I’d have had more control over the strength of cannabis I was smoking. I wonder if trying a small amount again might rebalance me.

What is a high? Is it a harmful state of mind? Or is it just a relaxation for which we have developed an unjustified fear? Whats wrong with getting high? These questions need to be understood first. Stigma can only be removed by experimenting with it. most of the people who oppose the herb have never tried it themselves. What a pity? Imo herb is a medicine for the brain and body. The relaxation it gives the high it gives to mind should not be confused with harmful intoxication. Also it has no overdose possible in case of smoking it. People's brains have been conditioned to believe that high is something bad or some out of control state of mind. Actually High is good. Why do you want to feel low all the time? Nature has given us herbs to heal our brain and nerves. Don't be so scared. And We should have freedom to use them.

Just to clarify - Hemp is also in the cannabis family. CBD is very healing - and there is NO high involved.
