@@rhysera Agreed. Their “slower” parts are so insanely good. They’ll never, ever top Scourge of Iron. Despite me loving the shit out of everything on the new album. Evisceration Plague is definitely up there as one of their best tunes, also. They have so many! Icepick Lobotomy and Kill or Become sit right there on top with anything they’ve ever done. Icepick might be my 2nd favorite tune of their’s.

I got my album a few days early from a pre-order, after a dozen or so listens I'm convinced this is their best album since at least kill. I love what Erik Rutan brings to the group, and his solo's are amazing. Sad to see Pat go, he has written some of my favorite cannibal songs, but I understand the change.

Brad, just a little fyi: LV-426 is the moon the xenomorphs from the movie Alien were originally discovered on. When I heard you reading the album name I got really exited that a band would use that reference as an album name but at the same time I had to slap my forhead for your ignorance 🤣 and now you know.

This was the album that got me back into Cannibal Corpse. I had more or less fallen off after The Wretched Spawn because it was starting to feel samey. I never had a problem with Pat O'Brien but the lineup change this time around seemed to spark a new energy in these guys. Like you said, rejuvenation might not be the right word, but something good definitely happened when Rutan came in as an actual member and not just producer.

I remember seeing that cover in my teenage years at a local music shop that carried metal CD's. I saw a lot of nasty cover art but that is a one that made me do a double take "Wait... IS THAT REAL!? Eh, probably not, it would not be on a CD cover then..." but even to this day that cover makes me feel uneasy. :D

I actually agree that the record needed a few of those signature Cannibal outside edge of the bell curve type songs on it. But other than that this one is a solid 9 for me. Can't wait to listen to it a few more times to appreciate everything fully. "Surround, Kill, Devour" is my favorite Cannibal song in yeaaaars. I am not sure why but the whole song just feels really well thought out and arranged. Like you could tell they worked hard on this song in particular.

I see what you mean about Slowly Sawn. I love the tune, but Scourge of Iron is the heaviest song ever written to my ears, and I don’t think they’ll ever top it. That descending bridge riff in Slowly Sawn, however, is so damn groovy and banging, it elevates the song to greatness for me. Follow the Blood is my favorite on the album.

Man, "Bound and Burned" gets no love, but it's my favorite song. It's got that little descending pentatonic thing that calls back "Seek and Destroy" that tickles my sack just right. Going through these comments, everyone seems to have a different favorite song, a testament to this absolute triumph of an album.

It's hard to critique a band you love. My favorite albums tend to be Pat O'Brien albums. Torture. Evisceration Plaque. Kill. It's my personal favorite era. I love the more technical, time change musicianship. This new stuff is good. Erick is a good fit. Maybe it'll grow in me the more I listen...just doesn't seem to have a lot of variety compared to a decade ago.

You were disappointed with Torture and A Skeletal Domain?! Each to their own of course, but they're my top two CC albums personally!

@@lbds9555 besides " Scourge Of Iron", i can't name a single song off them. They are cool, but to me, CC can do so so much better. But I get you, to me, The Wretched Spawn is the hidden gem that no one talks about

I love them .. but ive got a short attention span ... i like the album wretched spawn. This new one sounds good ... im more into experimental or post metal...
