Everything about this review makes me feel very old, like i should be watching Music of Destruction and also wearing sunglasses inside. The best first death metal album for a youth to hear is Legion and the reason is because the vocals are just right up in your face and overwhelm the music. It's a very beastly effect, although it's not likely to impact anyone quite the same way with so much similar music now. But this is all a natural progression of history; homey is obviously young. Everyone voted for Reagan in 1984, even Mondale. It was like the original TikTok challenge. And Deicide easily could have been the best DM band ever except they kept releasing records after the Hoffmans left. Now it's just openly about the fact that Glen can't get a job anywhere else.
Stunning interview. Dave Carlo is a metal legend and one of my favorite guitarists.

I understand that hate for deathcore. Most of it is garbage. Mental Cruelty, however, are the big exception.

Octohawk - Determinist - Crime Records - June 7th, 2024 Best progressive sludge album since Mastodon's The Hunter. I've been listening to it on repeat since its release, I think it might even be my favorite metal allbum of the 2020s decade so far. These Norwegian dudes are underground even by my niche standards, they deserve all the love they can get.

Finnish death metal scene is shure alive and well. Just saw Convulse and Rippikoulu live, with a younger band Whisper opening up for them. They played ”World Without God” and ”Musta seremonia” in their entirety!

Highly disagree with your review of High on Fire. I think it's their best album and Darker Fleece is an amazing closer. They played that as the closing song when I saw them a couple months ago and it was perfect. Also, Aborted is always sick with or without guests, so you're wrong there too.

Is it adolescent boys only watching the concerts ? I understand the appeal is to play music that your parents don’t like as loud as you can in your room. Normal teenage boy motivation. It’s such an act it is like kiss. Next will be the action figures. The guys talking from the bands look 30 something so it makes it look to me like a mid life crisis on the part of the band members. “ like Zappa said “ we’re only in it for the money” 😆 I wonder if they make money

Not sure I got that right, but I think "Tyr" is actually pronounced more like "TooRR" or "Tool" almost. I was in a show in France and they tried to hype the crowd with the usual "and who's here for Tyr ?" but nobody understood the pronunciation.
