Kevin reminded me of a story my brother told me. He worked at a Vocational school and was in charge of a tool room. One of the students requested "A wrench". My brother asked what size? The reply was "A big one" Again my brother quizzed him and told him he had just about any size of wrench needed. The guy then told him it didn't matter as he was using it as a hammer.

Clinton you definitely bought a can of worms with this one! I was in the Army and deployed twice and have seen people take parts off a perfectly running piece of equipment to fix theirs for whatever reason if it’s not being used! So there is a possibility that nothing was wrong with this dozer it just belong to another unit and wasn’t being used so they parted it out!

I worked a job where I was processing items to be auctioned by the company. My supervisor had me remove all the expensive parts and place them in storage. The funny part is those parts were never used and ended up in a landfill. He knew every part by their value, but he had no plan on how to use them. He reminded me of an Army private with no understanding of the real world. It would have been better if the parts were sold in the original auction.

That Block reminds me of when i was a kid when my uncle took all of the tubes in stuff out of one of those old console tv set and had an idea were they all went back together. He then needed the TV repairman to put it all back together

Many branches of our government, local, state and federal work on the principal the only way to increase the budget is by damaging equipment and supplies and then request them for the next year's budget. They work on the backasswards theory that if you don't use the funds you won't get it next year and that's just damn silly not to mention a financial burden on the taxpayers and clients. I've known of some agencies who intentionally break their hand tools at the end of the year to get new ones. It's a damn shame really

Robbing parts is robbing Peter to pay Paul temporary repairs that never get properly repaired, Thank goodness Clint does NOT DO THAT, when a machine leaves His shop it's factory fresh which is a breath of fresh air in today's world ,Why did they rob so many parts off a low hour tractor ?

Maybe some Engineers can weigh in - this is outside my wheelhouse as a Grunt but if I had to guess, it was just faster and easier to use this machine to keep all the others fully mission capable. Wouldn't think this would be a practice that was sanctioned by leadership but who knows - it's probably not that uncommon.

Logistics it’s faster to keep certain equipment operational by breaking one to fix many. We often did it with aircraft especially ones high in inspection hrs but a date that is far away of the major inspection.

Maintenance guy with the engineers here. I’ve seen this happen many times during my time in the Marine Corps. Stuff like this happens for two main reasons. 1) mechanics are pulled in many directions with competing priorities. Some don’t get the time invested to become proficient and are just trying to survive the madness. 2) the Marine Corps chose to downsize certain equipment sets to reduce cost and reallocate funds to “force modernization”. We specifically reduced the qty of dozers in our inventory. Once it is tagged for disposal, LOGCOM can give approval for cannibalization. Everything is fair game at that point. You would be blown away by some of the shit we used to do. I always wondered what happened to a nice piece of gear after we got done raping it. It makes me happy that Clint got ahold of this dozer and could right some of our wrongs. This is the main reason I am subscribed to this channel.

@@wes11bravototally agree. In a war situation… of which thus dozer was most likely involved a running unit will keep the others running. Less expensive and faster gor parts than ordering from out of country.

Machine A has a part that will take a week or two to get, machines b, C, d need parts that will take a few days. There are parts on machine A that can get b, C, d all running by the end of the day. Then when the parts come in they can all go on machine a and your back to all 4 working.

What an unholy mess that control block was in, thankfully the Jedi Mechanic that is Clint and his apprentice Kevin were able to put it right. Like the way that hydraulic valve was replaced with a rag, if only all repairs were that simple. 😎 She certainly sounds sweet!

I bet john deere dealers must get smile when walk in.clint must courage both hand.i work myself lots year ago banister pipeline bought equipment from repo from bank.i mess up i discover open can ants yup.the invoice was nonstop from cat finning.repair this dozer it will take lots patience and time.thank fix insane job.😮

Clint do you have an amazing channel? I’ve been watching your show for about two months now and I’ve seen about 40 episodes. Good job on that machine. Give it a break, marines were working on it. Im surprised that there isn’t instructions written in crayon on it. I’m willing to bet that track bolt is a find thread bolt. They just jammed it in there so the hole would be closed

Mason seems to be a perfect fit for the C&C shop, he doesn't seem bothered by you guys blaming him for things he didn't do and wasn't asked to do and he just keeps smiling, as he learns how the pros do things and he even gets paid for being there! I'm going to go out on a limb and guess that if the shop work slows down, Mason could get part time work at the circus, because he already knows a lot about working with clowns. :) Love your channel. When I was in the Seabees on deployment to Guam years ago, we tried to reassemble a D6 that had been disassembled by the previous battalion. Pain in the butt. No one ever does it the same as you might. Sucked.
