I get asked a lot of questions about canoe camping, canoe trip planning, and pond hopping in the Adirondacks...
so I wanted to share my answers to the 5 most asked questions I get. The topics cover navigation, campfire rules,
bear safety,
going to the bathroom
and
Leave No Trace. My goal with this video is to help you have a safe and enjoyable canoe camping experience... with the hope that you will be a good steward of our beloved Adirondacks.

Thanks for the video. It looked great. Being from Canada and so close to NY, the Adirondacks are on my bucket list, so this video was quite helpful.

Thanks Tom. On my canoe trips I've come across quite a few doozies (illegal fires at put-ins, garbage in fire pits, live trees cut down, etc)... so I am hoping this video helps educate people... and helps everyone have a better experience.

Thank you for making this PSA! Seems like this should be shown in all of the Canadian provincial parks from the canoe camping videos i watch from there. The KZfaqrs who film themselves are obviously up on their LNT always but a lotta times they get to campsites that were used by non LNTers. Great stuff here! Are you still making vids? Take care.

Hey thanks. I figured if my videos were encouraging people to get out in nature it was only right that I help them do it responsibly... and safely. There are so many great Canadian canoeing youtube channels. Their rules, especially when it comes to firewood, is much more liberal than here in the Adirondacks... a big difference is being able to use standing dead vs our fallen dead only. As for making videos... this year turned out busier than expected as Barb and I finally found land we loved took ownership this Spring. So for the most part we had to use most of our free time to work on our property... which includes rehabbing an old barn. The good news is the property borders the Saint Regis Canoe area. So while this year was a bit of a sacrifice... next paddling season should be very exciting. I appreciate you following along. Happy Thanksgiving.

The Florida Hot Springs are amazing. 2 I can highly recommend include the Emerald Cut of Rock Springs Run in Opopka, Florida.... and Silver Springs State park. I haven't been to Rainbow Springs but that is high on my list of places to paddle in the future. I've also paddled the St Johns River out of Blue Springs State Park if you want slightly bigger water. Keep me posted on what you end up paddling. @@MrCabinboy11

Hey Chance. Thanks for watching. The bug question just missed the cut... that and my favorite fishing holes :-) The bugs have been particularly nasty this year with all the rain and humidity. I tell people that have a tough time dealing with bugs to canoe camp between end of August to early October when it is relatively bug free.

Thanks Craig. Work is well under way. They have signage up directing paddlers to the access... via Horseshoe Lake outlet. A tough route most wouldn't enjoy.
