The shot at 48 seconds you can really see the difference. If you focus on the tall building the 80d has it much more lite

I thought I noticed that the 80D has truer color, especially in the whites of the building at 44-46 second mark. Great video and loving your channel. Fantastic reviews!

Thank you, finally a review that sealed the deal on my new camera. I was on the fence going back and forth between the 80d and the 70d. The way the colors are more crisp on the 80d made the choice very clear that the 80d was the camera I was looking for as my next camera upgrade.

little tip for your videos Chris : Put the config of each image too, not only the name of.each camera. Put the aperture and the ISO used to record on each take =)

I cant choose between a 70d and 80d but This is the first Video i have found comparing the low light. Fantastic Video Chris! Would have loved to see extended/Max Iso comparisons though

Color seemed better like the white balance was more accurate. The 70d footage was definitely warmer. All out win for the 80d in noise. thanks for the vid.

Thank you for your reviews!!!! I'm about to spend $1,800 on a camera that I can't even see actual test footage. I just had to go with specs, but we all know they're not always up to par! I'm so glad I found your videos! It makes me a lot more confident in purchasing this camera.

It seems like the 80D has less color noise, and is a bit sharper (maybe due to less smoothing to make up for noise).

Any plans to review the canon 1dx mark II ?

They defiantly look similar but you can see how the 80D takes away some potential nasty tint colors (unless you want that for your picture or film) but both still do a solid job, good video again man!

I have been debating whether to get the Canon 80D or Sony A6300. Do you agree that Canon video look more cinematic without any post production needed which will save lots of color correction time? If I buy the Sony A6300 will required lots of color grading in post production to make the video look cinematic.

why would you be surprised at the quality of the sensor as it is being compared to a 3 year old camera.. I would be more surprised if the quality was not better... I will still stick to my trusty 70D for some time now.. no compelling reason to update seeing not so much new features have been added to the 80D...Magic Lantern on 70D adds all the features I need to the 70D!

What about studio photography? IS 6D mark ii much better than 80D, for studio photography and also low light video?

I'm the most impressed by the improved AF system, on the 80D it seems even more confident than on the 70D. Impressive!

Don't have either I use 7dM2 for video which is fine for me. No brainer to go for the new 80D considering the 70D is around 3 years old from release. But you are right, too bad Canon does not have any 4K models at this price point.

Every video you post shows just how much more I would appreciate the 80D...it is better in low light with video.....it appears to be a great step forward from the 70D.....and the 70D was (and still is) an awesome camera......I want the 80D more with every video you post showing it's capabilities.......remember me for the drawing!

I'm going crazy. I need DXO Mark to hurry up and issue the lens test results for the 80D. I currently use the 70D with the Sigma 18-35F1.8, Sigma 35m F1.4 and Canon 70-200F2.8. These are the sharpest and most distortion free lenses you can use with the 70D. With any luck, they will be the best for the 80D.

So, Chris, how's the overall performance and video quality between the 70D and 80D? Is it worth the $200+/- difference?

i dont know if its the slight angle placement of the camers, the 70D looked little better in some shots. But the new sensor in the 80D is a clear winner. Great comparison.

The difference is pretty obvious on a decent size screen but only when you see the videos side by side. In isolation I doubt you would be able to say which video is from which camera. IMHO the 70D footage looks slightly out of focus. I own a 70D and currently trying to decide to move up(or sideways) to an 80D. This video is certainly not enough to convince me to buy an 80D. Shame really cos I'm suffering ever so slightly from gadget fever at the moment. :o)

On my small smartphone I can not see much difference , my eye is leaning to left side better picture, but some spots look a little sharper on the right?

The colours on the 80D seem a lot better! The white colours in the videos on the 70D had a green tint

I liked the fact that she shoot in HDR, write to 60 fps in full HD, have built-in time-lapse, and have increased the megapixels. Does anyone know if you have input for headphones and clean output to HDMI? And if the body is more robust?

@chris : I have watched almost 100+ videos to judge whether I should buy Canon 80D or Sony A6300?? My primary focus is to create videos. Please Help me out.

The image does seem a bit cleaner. I would hope it's better since it's a newer generation of Canon sensor. Assuming you were shooting at the same ISO, it looks like it may be 1/2 to 3/4 of a stop better. But again, you wouldn't buy either of these if shooting at night or in very low light is your priority. Full frame is the way to go for that. I have the 70D and the 80D upgrades aren't enough for me to warrant replacing it, as the 70D is a great performer in its own right. I could find a full frame 6D for the price of an 80D, which will give me much greater improvement as far as pure image quality goes.

You have one for the 80d, but I have not seen one for the 70d. I have a canon 50mm f/1.8 , Sigma 20mm f/1.4, canon 24-105mm f4 L. I also inherited a Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 lens & a Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 lens which does not have image stabilisation and is extremely heavy! ( niether are full frame, so eventually, I would have to seel them...) I would like to lose those 2 last lens for something much better. I no longer need that extra zoom. I am into lowlight shooting, indoor and outdoor concerts, street shoots, travel and point & shoot as well as portrait photography. So then, what would you suggest I invest in? 80D is much flat(neutral) looking in colors, also there is obvious difference in details.70D looks on first glance better but this gives less space for color correction.

It's the same to me. It would be nice to get one long shot instead of zooming and just having something for 3 seconds then moving to the next shot.

80d is a little sharper and reproduces color better, even a little more dynamic range but I think at this resolution both did similarly at 3600. Crank up the ISO to 6400 or 8000 :D

It looks like there is more detail coming out of the shadows on the video.

Just because it's newer people are going to think it is better, but in reality the difference is very small, stop saying that you guys see a insane difference, it's not that big of a difference

80D had better color rendering, sharpness, HDR and it also had a wider field of view. 80D beats the 70D.

70D is more blurry. The difference is stark. 70D looks a lot like my dashcam.
