I wish they would update it to RF mount. I’m already invested into that lineup and now i just feel like it would be difficult and cost more to go into the c200 just to buy older glass. Just so when they want to come out with an RF system to sell and buy all those other lenses. Looks like i jump ship at a very pivotal moment for canon. Here goes three more years!

well the rumor is they have a RF version coming out. So you may be in look. RF 200 is rumored to start at 3500, 8 bit. 10 bit RF is rumored at 6200. We shall see if the rumors are true.

Really appreciate this review after the amount of experience you've had with the C200. I loved the raw lite on a music video I shot with it. Considering buying the C200 or URSA Mini G2 for music video / doc shooting and it's great to hear you feel alright using the C200 up to 10000 iso. That's a big consideration. I only wish Canon menus were as good as BlackMagic menus. That's one little consideration holding me back from going all in on a C200
@hellotmrw
@hellotmrw 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much! Yeah we’ve heard the Ursa Mini is an amazing camera. Tough call between the two cams. We personally like the canon menus although they are a bit slow. The low light and ergonomics for run and gun are big wins for the C200.

Hi, I am thinking of getting one of these. I have a few questions. Is the stabilization good? I record a lot of hand held. Also Do I need to buy the monitor canon has with it or can I just use the osee t5 I have already plugged in to hdmi. Will the menu still work? Thanks.
@hellotmrw
@hellotmrw 2 жыл бұрын
The C200 is great but if you plan on doing a lot of handheld work I'd definitely consider getting a lens with optical stabilization to help reduce the jitters. Also the more weight you add to your rig the better. But overall yes I'd say it's good. For an external monitor yes the menus should still work you'll just need to use the joystick instead of any touch navigation.

@hellotmrw

Thanks Desmond! Raw Light is the version of raw that Canon uses in the C200. If you shoot in 24fps then you get 12bit raw. If you shoot in 60fps then it's 10bit raw. Hope this helps!

It's tough because I haven't used any RF lenses myself but from what I've heard they're amazing. I'm sad to see Canon discontinue the EF line but I'm very glad they are releasing adapters and speed boosters for EF lens owners. And the features they include (ie drop in filters) are so great.

How do you get the Canon Cinema RAW Light Source Settings (switching between Log 2 and 3) window? Does it come up only after importing Light footage? Or is it something you purchase?

@@hellotmrw I'm definitely up to date on the latest version of Premiere but I guess I'm asking if you have to have Raw Light footage imported to see that option or if it should show up for any clip? I've seen others have that screen and wondered why I don't. I am shooting with a Canon-R. In the settings of the camera, I only see Canon Log (8 bit) but I'm considering upgrading to a C200. Hello Tomorrow Films I own 2 x c200 and the R5. I would recommend the Sony a7s3 Alessandro if your not deep in the canon ecosystem then I would highly recommend Sony. However I love my set up and wouldn’t change it at all but the R5 (at this point) is too unreliable to use as your sole camera, I call it the master shooter, good for high detail 8k and 4k120 bursts and photos. But if your working weddings or client jobs then you need a rock solid camera that won’t let you down EVER and that’s not the R5 I must say I do love the vND adapter from canon RF to EF you can’t get that with Sony (without going 3rd party and sacrificing AF response) so long story short if your in deep with canon glass go the c200, on the user marked it’s a steal or if your fresh go Sony as that little camera is a work horse. Hope this helps

A lot of what you do, wouldn't be my forte. I am a straight out cinematographer and Director. Though I like the Sony FX9, that is still good for me on a tripod, as is a Cinealta camera like an F55 or a Venice 2. Canon?? I don't do Bar Mitzvas, weddings or mumblecore, so I personally stay away from Canon. Sorry.
