Despite being an old DSLR, this camera is my new favourite camera that I own. When I purchased the camera, I only wanted it as part of my 1d collection but as I started using it as my daily camera as well as took photos at a paid wedding shoot, I just fell in love with this camera. Not only the it is such a work horse and reliable camera. It also produces great stunning images images. Of course, being an old camera, this camera has it's limitations and draw backs when compare to modern day cameras. In this video I'd like to share my thoughts on this camera in case it might help some of you.

I’ve had my 1DX for about 7mo now. I LOVE it for all the same reasons you stated. Side note: you can put the camera in silent mode during video recording and it changes the button functions so that they do not “click” if you’re adjusting. Thank you for the video!! It’s rare to see a current video on the 1DX. Please create a few more vids on this camera. Take care!

Thank you very much for watching and also for the kind words. Much appreciated it. :-) Regarding the silent shooting, yeah, it works really similarly to my 5d mark iii but thank you for pointing it out. :-) Yeah, part of the reason for me to create this video was that I just couldn't find a lot of videos about the original canon eos 1dx that is not by big camera reviewers or by Canon themselves.. So I just thought why not share some of my thoughts about the camera with people in case someone would like to know more about this camera since it is still such a great camera in my opinion. :-) Thank you very much again for watching and for sharing your thoughts/experience. Hope you have a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

Weird question, but coming from Nikon... how do you change the aperture with the 1DX when in manual mode? I only have manual focus lenses rn like the Voigt 58 and some Zeiss, but when I'm in manual video mode the top dial just changes the shutter. How would you change aperture with a canon lens? Thanks.

I have two of the 1dx Cameras, they have been absolute work horses for me over the years… Purchased one back in 2012 when they first came out and another one as a second setup in 2016 because I don’t like changing lenses in some of the conditions I have experienced at events, re dust etc. I photographed a rodeo once and the dust was bad. The camera survived two days of the dust whereas I destroyed a 70-200L (Mark one). I had a motherboard in one of 1dx’s die and it was quite expensive to get repaired, I think about AU$750. But they have been great cameras, I would like to get the MKIII for the eye tracking etc. but these have many more years left in them. A great Camera, Good review David... thanks for sharing your thoughts.

I just picked up a 1D X with less than 2,000 clicks on the shutter. Even though I have the R6, R5, and several pro Nikons like the D4S and D5, I've been dying to try out a 1D X body for awhile just because of what I've heard about that entire series of cameras in general, and...wow! It has to be the toughest, most robust camera I have ever felt - even moreso than the pro Nikon bodies by a hair. And the files coming from it are just lovely!

Since 2006 I have owned several eos1d mkII, IV and 1DX. I personally prefer zero or near zero post-editing photography if possible for motorsports. just no time to edit either money or delete it. What you shoot you have to manage. Purchasing used pro bodies as you did is the best investment tool if its your living, battery life, durability all the things you've mentioned. Dropping a consumer camera with a 85mm1.2 would've been the death of that camera/lens. Back in the day i started with a nikon FF and also had a big dent in the prism it was a visual testimony of the pro camera body's strength. The more you use your canon pro body it just creates better more authentic photography. If post photoshop is your thing then a probody isn't really warranted. I don't really do much video and seeking to learn more to incorporate more video. thank you for your great informal video, happy shooting.

Wow, those two cameras are some of my favourite cameras! I love using those two and the colour science of the 5d mark iii, that's just amazing! :-) I personally actually prefer the colour science of the 1dx original over the 1dx mark ii but I cannot deny how much more robust the files of the 1dx mark ii as well as how much more reliable it is over the already very reliable 1dx original. So for the colours, I would pick the 1dx original any day but for demanding jobs, assignments, etc., I'd pick the 1dx mark ii. how do you compare colours between 1dx and 6d? don't you have examples to show by any chance? I love 6d colours, I've already tried many other canon cameras, including mirrorless, and all of them are beaten by my old good 6d, so would like to try 1dx or 1dx mark ii

@@SergeKoritsky I have a bunch of pictures from both, and I think the picture quality of the 6D is equal to or better than my 1Dx. They do tend to 'pop' more than what I get out of my 1Dx. Going down from 20MP to 18MP seemed noticeable to me as well. Some of that may be due to camera settings, and I've gotten better about getting better images in-camera. I have since gotten a 1Dx-II and newer glass, as well as a lot of practice. The biggest knocks against the 6D for sports is the fps rate and the need for a battery grip. Resolution was more than adequate, and it produced high quality images.

I've been eyeing this one up as an upgrade from my 5d mkI and 7d mki I think this would be more versatile but the 1ds iii also really interests me, the colours seem lovely. Am I losing any of that special sauce if I got the 1dx or can you achieve similar looks to the 5d / 1ds?
@AstonsVintageTechnologyWorkshp
@AstonsVintageTechnologyWorkshp 2 жыл бұрын
I've always found that the 1DX pulls out more 'per pixel' sharpness, than many other cameras, and obviously considerably more than any of the 5D range, which output overly soft images due to the very heavy anti-aliasing filter. Yet there is something about the 1DX's natural pixel structure grain, that make the shots taken with it look special. You may find that the 1DXII loses that aesthetic. The only other two cameras that had this otherworldly look, was the 1DS Mk2 and the original 1D. And even if you're blowing it up to billboard size, 18 megapixels will do a comfortable A2 print or about 16 x 24 inches. All the best from Aston.
@AstonsVintageTechnologyWorkshp

Also forgot to mention, that I bought this camera new, and loved it from the day I saw the first pictures come up on the computer. Given that the 1DX mark two and Mark three didn't offer much in the way of improvements, I haven't bothered to upgrade. When you described it as an old DSLR, it surprised me, as I consider it to be still very competitive against the majority of current DSLR's. Sorry, I'm just rambling now. :-)

@@Classicdslr Couldn't find any mention of the 6D being sharper anywhere in the thread, however, the 6D does have a much newer sensor, though I have no experience with it bar a couple of test shots which I found to be somewhat soft. That could of course be something to do with the lens that was been tested at the time. (I do find however find that the five series is significantly softer). I suspect with decent prime lenses, mirror lock-up, and an excellent tripod, one could produce a significantly sharp enough image on either camera that would produce excellent enlargements. If you're looking for large prints, you could always mount the camera vertically and take multiple shots and then join them together later on. I've done this in the past creating giga pixel images which print at any size. Just a thought.

12fps is the reason I want this. Because it can be converted to a 24p video clip using frame interpolation. Shooting in RAW in bursts and being able to turn them into video clips after editing every frame in Lightroom for maximum picture quality is awesome. Only trouble is it the sound. You can either record separately or just dub music over. I am strongly considering buying a used one at the right price. Not ready to go mirrorless until they sort out problems like the battery life. 260 shots (R6) and then a dead battery is unusable for me.
@DavidCuhls
@DavidCuhls 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for watching and also for sharing your story, very much appreciated it. I think that although the camera can technically shoot at 12fps, the camera might not be able to keep that up with af turned on since not all lenses will keep up and if there focusing distance gap between certain shift focus is huge then it will definitely not keep up.. Sure the 1dx battery last longer than the battery life of the R6... but after just came back from a few badminton game shoots and with over four and a half thousand images on both my R5 and R6, I can confirm that the battery life is also not bad on those cameras. Also, if you don't mind the size, you can actually get a battery grip and in practice you will be able to shoot for quite a few days without charging (if you don't shoot video and only shoot photos, the 2 batteries in the batterygrip of the r5 and r6 will outlast the 1dx battery in my experience)... If battery life is your concern, the R3 uses the same battery as the 1dx mark iii, so that's also something to look at... But that's just my opinion based on how I shoot... Thank you very much again for watching and also for sharing your story, very much appreciated it. I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

And mine is mint, stays home during my event shoots, since the 85mm f1.8 is way more consistent, faster and lighter. I'd hate to think what she will be like after the fall like that.

Yeah, I think that the 1dx mark ii is definitely great and still produces great files. In terms of colour science though, I still prefer the mark i over the mark ii. I think it just looks more organic with more characters in the same time. The skin rendition and skin tones are also just great and pleasing on the mark i over the mark ii in my opinion. That said, the mark ii is also great, just that these things are very subjective. But of course, without a doubt, the mark ii's files are much better to edit and more robust as well. Add that extra performance that you'll get with the mark ii, it is still a great option to go for as well. That's just my opinion in a nutshell, hope that helps. I thank you so much for continuing to watch my videos, very much appreciated it! I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

The hardware on this camera is capable to shoot 4K, but Canon lock it via software to sell a similar equivalent of this body for videography. Also they treatend to sue Magic Lantern if the try to unlock it. God knows how many features on this camera are hidden from us to this days.

Awesome video, how good is that AF on the 1DX, does it get the focus spot on 99% of the time or are there situations where it struggles due to its age? One other question, do you still have it and if so how is it now you have had more time using it? Thanks.
@DavidCuhls
@DavidCuhls Жыл бұрын
I still have and use this camera, in my opinion, it still has the best Canon colour and skin tones in any of my Cameras that I have used and still own. That being said, it is hard to get all 99% of the shots in every situations to be accurate, especially for a DSLR. Furthermore, you have to get used to how the camera handles different environment/scenarios as well to be able to get the most out of it. In my experience, this camera will accurately focus 83-89% of the time. The rest, it might take a little bit too long or there were just too many complex patterns and lighting that confused the camera a little. Then there is also the lenses, if the lenses allows the camera to perform with precision and also with great response, then it will also raise that chance to getting more accurately focused shots. So please be aware of that as well. Hope that helps. I thank you for watching and also for the kind words, very much appreciated it. I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

I think Canon have stopped producing them but you will still be able to get official Canon batteries from other official sellers online since many still have them in stock. I would actually recommend getting the original battery because in my experience, they last longer and the third part batteries (even popular ones) can be picky when it comes to the type of chargers and they do charge slower than the original one. Furthermore, the battery life indicator isn't as accurate as the original battery. Hope that helps a bit. Thanks so much for watching and congrats on getting the camera! Hello David! Congrats on the great content on your youtube channel! I love your videos on older cameras. I wanted to share my experience with the 1DX Mark I. So I have purchased this camera in 2019 for about 1250 Euros with 45.000 shutter count which was basically like new and I also took good care of it even today it looks good and it has 227.000 shutter count, it is my main camera for official photographic projects and as they say it brings money in the house. I can tell you it was the perfect decision at that time to purchase this camera I don't regret it one bit even though 2019 was a starting point in advance mirrorless cameras. The image quality straight of this camera is just amazing, the Canon color science and skin tones are just perfect, the raw files are like perfect working material but I often find that the JPEG straight out of the camera are just great. I am photographer that does many subgenres of photography such as weddings, children events, parties, club parties, sport events (major and minor sport events), car racing events etc. This camera helps me to obtain the perfect JPEG picture quality out of the camera. The ISO power of this camera is amazing, If i deliver JPEGs straight out of the camera I will programm the camera with a high noise reduction and use ISO up to 6400 ISO, if I am working with RAW files I wouldn't shy to use ISO 10.000, ISO 10.000 in RAW is way better than lets say 5D Mark III (which I owned and it is another great camera). ISO 10.000 is not that hard to correct in RAW from the 1DX as I learned during the years using it. The battery life is extraordinary I have two original batterie, each one lasts about 2500 shots with lighter prime lenses or at least 1200-1400 shots with a heavier lenses or when using IS. The battery power is not hindered by extreme temperatures, I have photographed wedding in 37 degrees Celsius outdoor here in Romania and also -16 degrees Celsius landscape long exposures and a fully charged battery lasted as long as possible. The autofocus system for photography is just fantastic, I can focus in low light during the bride and groom dance when the light is dim or when their cake is being carried to them in low light with only candle light from the candles on the cake or many low light situations. The autofocus system for sports events is just amazing for a soccer match or tennis match I am using it alongside the prime lens Canon 400mm f/5.6L some times maybe with the Canon 1.4 TCE Mark II extender as it will focus with this extender on the central point, straight out of the camera the JPEG will be perfect. True, I am using canon fixed lenses such as Canon 24mm f/1.4L Mark II, Canon 35mm f/1.4L Mark II, Canon 85mm f/1.4L IS, Canon 100mm f/2.8L Macro, Canon 135mm f/2L, Canon 400mm f/5.6L and the single most light and good overall zoom Canon 70-400 f/4L USM lens; speedlite flash Canon 600 EX RT mark I and Mark II and 400 EX RT III, It is a perfect combination for what I need - it took me almost 7 years to purchase this kit. I am using the Canon 1DX alongside my Canon 1D Mark III which I will review later and I just love the combination of these two camera. In a day and age of mirrorless cameras I will not upgrade yet to a mirrorless camera probably I will upgrade to the 1DX Mark II. My point is you need good Canon L lenses and original flashes in my personal opinion to obtain maximum quality out of this camera and 1D Mark III also and of course you need to learn how to use natural light properly. Cheers!

@DavidCuhls Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much for watching, really means a lot! Regarding the battery options, there are definitely a lot of third party options but it also really depends on which region of the world you live in as different region of the world will have their reliable brands. So here in northern Europe, Patona would be a reliable third party battery brand. That said, if you can find brand new original ones (which should still be available since this battery series was used in quite a few models), I would recommend getting the brand new original one is not only going to last longer but will work better when using with the original charger since the third party batteries (regardless of brands) tends to have problems with reliable charging with the original charger... Furthermore, they don't always show the exact battery after a while of owning... Hope that helps somewhat, thank you very much for watching. I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting!

Thanks. (Nikon obviously have two dials, lol)
@DavidCuhls
@DavidCuhls 5 ай бұрын
Sorry to hear about the problem… Usually on Canon cameras, the top dial is to change the shutter speed when in manual mode on the rear dial (the wheel next to the screen) is to change the aperture. You can reprogram them to change other settings in the menu settings though. But that’s the case with lenses with electrical contacts with the camera. Many manual lenses does not have electrical contacts with the camera and therefore you cannot change the aperture through the camera but on the lens itself. But usually the rear dial is the dial to change your aperture value on the Canon cameras. I hope that helps. I thank you very much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! ☺️✌🏻📸

did you have a chance compare colors from 1DX with 1DX Mark II? are they still the same?
@DavidCuhls
@DavidCuhls Жыл бұрын
Yes I have actually and they are not the same to be honest with you. File-wise, the 1dx mark ii shows deeper colours that I can't explain but my preference would still be the original 1Dx because it looks more unique to me whereas the 1dx mark ii tries to look more like a standard look (if that made sense...)... I guess, "artistically" the 1dx original would be my choice but for more "natural" looks, the 1dx mark ii would be better (though it does still have that nice Canon colour science and rendition of course). Hope that helps a little. I thank you very much for watching, I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

Thankyou for this video David. I have a question: What is the maximum print size of the picture from the 1DX?
@DavidCuhls
@DavidCuhls 3 жыл бұрын
With the 1dx, I am really not sure about the print size since I haven't really printed larger than A1. However, I've seen photographers using the 1dx for fashion shoots and the pictures would be printed for the billboard size to be put on billboards and the side of big buildings like big shopping mall buildings. So I can say that with an A1 professional print, it is definitely really good. There are a lot of details, the colours are really good as well. However, between the A1 size and a billboard size, I cannot really give much input on that either since I've never personally print larger than A1. For billboard, many people always of the misconception that you need a super high megapixel camera to do it... but in reality, people are looking at the images from at least a few hundred metres away, so any unclear (if there are any) part is not really visible at that distance to the naked eyes...

Hi Chris, thank you for watching and also congrats on getting the camera. :-) To be honest, I usually can get out more images than the ratings. That being said, this has always been the case for me with Canon batteries. My battery actually lasts for about a couple of weeks on just average shooting before needing to be recharged again. My camera only came with one battery thought but for me that's more than enough for what I use the camera to shoot especially since I usually also bring at least two other cameras with me on the shoot. Though I am looking for some original spare batteries for the camera as sometimes it's best to bring a spare battery for the 1dx for a short trip rather than bringing a charger with it... Wow, that’s a nice combination of cameras that you have, I still really love the 1DX but also really like the GR II as well, such a powerful camera! :-) I personally also love the 5d classic, I think that it has really unique colour science (both straight out of the camera and even during the post process…). I think that the 17-40mm is still a great lens and has plenty of optical resolution for the 5d classic. (I also have done a video of the 5d classic on my channel if you are interested! ☺️) For the price, I think it’s really worth getting the combination of the 5d classic and the 17-40mm. It’s also a great walk around combination as well because the lens starts from ultra wide to standard focal length. I remembered when I first started taking photography seriously, I swore by the 17-40mm but to this day, some of my favourite images were taken with that lens. The contrast is great, chromatic aberration control is great, sharpness is still good and it has weather sealing which really great! I am very sorry that I made you feel that way. I am happy for you that you never dropped your camera. I can assure you that when I drop my camera, it was not on purpose. When I am out shooting, especially on an assignment/project/etc. capture the moment/story and/or creating that image is more of my priority. For example, when shooting wedding and I have at least 3 cameras on me, the cameras should never get in the way of my work and even if one camera is dropped, the work most go on because it's the people in the event, the story of the event and the event itself that matters. I of course try my best to take care of my camera but if I am out shooting, the subject/moment/story/creation must come before the camera for me. Furthermore, I buy tough cameras, if I am just moving it with my hand in the video, it should not break the camera... I hope you understand. @9:48 one annoying thing about Canon cameras is that they are inconsistent with the iso button placement, besides the fact that the button is tiny. But my biggest annoyance is that the camera stops displaying the meter through the viewfinder as you adjust the iso. With Nikon DSLRs, the meter is displayed as you adjust the iso in realtime (like shutter speed/aperture) so you can see the effect change has on the measured exposure. Canon does this but only while adjusting the shutter speed and/or aperture, not iso.

However, I've experience over 16 times when the Sandisk would either get corrupted or was just not reliable enough. So right now I am trying to buy more Lexar cards because statistically I had less problems with them but I have to admit that when traveling to different shoots in different countries, Sandisk is still more accessible, so most of my SD cards are still Sandisk...

Just wanted to address the wifi comment. Yeah camera wifi is super convenient but with these older bodies It almost makes me prefer just plugging my phone directly into the camera to download pictures since it's also very quick. Just need a mini usb to what ever your phone uses (maybe android only ?) But I dunno by the time I turn on wifi on my bodies with wifi, then connect my phone to it, then open up canon connect. Almost seems faster plugging in two ends of a cable lol

I think it also depends on the kind of use you want to do with the Wi-Fi connectivity. I personally use Wi-Fi for monitoring the cameras more than transferring the data. For example, if I plan to shoot seagulls with an ultra wide angle lens at the beach, there is no way I be with the camera at the beach. With the Wi-Fi feature, I could set the camera up on the beach at the ground level, put the food around the camera, wait for a few seagulls to come and eat, then wirelessly fire the shutter. This also brings up another Wi-Fi point, if I am wirelessly connected to the phone or computer, I can wirelessly feather shoot which would be more convenient than using a cable since the cable (thought faster) wouldn’t give me the flexibility as wirelessly tether shoot. I hope that made a little of sense from my side~ 😅😅 Thank you very much for watching and for the effort in commenting, really appreciated it! :-) I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

@@DavidCuhls meant to reply a long time ago. Yeah that makes sense for the remote operations ;) too bad you couldn't do that via a usb cable and the canon app.

Cameras peaked for me around 2010-2012. Other than a few 2014 exceptions I refuse to buy anything later because they just started becoming to fad/gimmick infested in an attempt to keep sales going. No thanks.
@DavidCuhls
@DavidCuhls Жыл бұрын
Yeah, I think many cameras from that time are still really good cameras even for today's standards. The general consumers can't really tell the difference from the images straight out of camera anymore whether the images were taken from the more modern camera or even the camera from 2010. Furthermore, I think that many cameras even from 2008 are still reliable and despite might not be as convenient as the more modern cameras but it doesn't make the older cameras any less of a camera. That said, I do think that many modern cameras do improve on many of the features that also helps different groups of photographers miss their shots less and also actually help making the workflow much easier. For example, I sure do love my Canon eos 1dx and my 5d mark iii and out of all the Canon cameras I own, they have my favourite colour science and skin tone renditions. However, nowadays, I find that my eos R5 and R6 benefit me more during work for the features that they have. I am able to be give my clients sample images much faster, the AF is so much more reliable (which is very useful when the dynamic of different lighting conditions tends to get really tricky for any DSLR to focus), the lens mount is superior (at least for my use), the operational design is more efficient thus allowing me to access different settings much quicker therefore missing less shots and the list goes on.... I think that many things on newer cameras can be seen as a "gimmick" but there are users/photographers who will also be relying heavily on those features that many might call "gimmick". But that is only my opinion. I thank you very much for watching and also for sharing your story and perspective, very much appreciated it. I wish you a great time, stay safe and have fun shooting! :-)

Het enige wat ik echt vervelend vind is dat de 1dx geen autofocus tracking heeft bij video
@DavidCuhls
@DavidCuhls 2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, the lack of tracking system in video is a pity but this camera came out back in around 2012 and back then there was no proper tracking in video for DSLRs yet... but with the colour science and the quality that you still can get out of this camera, having the tracking would have been really nice indeed :-)

You like it more than your 1D Mark iii 😭. I have the 1 D Mark iii.
@DavidCuhls
@DavidCuhls 2 жыл бұрын
I still love the 1d mark iii, but the 1dx also has a special place in my heart as it also at this point got me through a lot of projects and I am still amazed by the colour science out of this camera when compare to even the more modern eos R that I also have. The 1d mark iii is, at the end of the day, a great camera that I will always love and will not look down on it as I did and still do enjoy using that camera. Furthermore, to me it is also a type of classic digital camera that I always have the pleasure using it every time i pick up the camera. :-) But the 1dx is also another nice camera that I just fell in love with the colour science and they reliability. Furthermore, it is to me a type of classic as well because it started the 1dx line of cameras... This camera is also a pleasure to use and the reliability of this camera cannot be overlooked for any projects I take it to... That being said, it doesn't mean that I love the 1d mark iii any less that I used to, I still love it and the 1d mark iii is still a great camera for me as well :-) So don't be sad:-) Be glad that you have such a nice camera as the 1d mark iii to work with. :-)

@PerfectNormal 2 жыл бұрын
@@DavidCuhls thanks David . I feel better now. Maybe down the line I could pick up at 1DX for myself as well. Not sure if you saw my other reply. But do you think 1D Mark IV worth getting if you already have a 1D Mark iii? To be honest, I have a little bit of the GAS. My main purpose for the camera is street photography by the way. Luxury to crop with the 16 Mp would be nice, but I’m not sure if it’s worth spending another $700. US.
@DavidCuhls
@DavidCuhls 2 жыл бұрын
I'd say that resolution isn't really every, even for cropping. I know it sounds cliche but it is true. For example, the Canon eos R6 has only 20 megapixels when compare to the older eos R which has a little over 30 megapixels. But the details of the 20 megapixels of the R6 so really comparable, if not better than the eos R... So my advice is maybe look at the 1d mark iii file and see if you like the details out of the camera even after cropping. If you do, maybe you can hold off from buying the mark iv and save a bit more money... But if you really prefer that much more details and you are able to justify paying more for the 1d mark iv, then who am I to stop you right? So just look at the details and justify it for your style of photography/results and from there just really think it overnight and then decide :-) I am sure that would be the best way for now to consider your decisions :-)

@@DavidCuhls Gosh David this is excellent advice. I'm going to look at the files more closely. I think I'm just attracted to the idea of having more pixels but you're probably right. If I look more closely at the files that I get while shooting it, I'll probably be satisfied. You know how GAS is, it totally clouds your perception of the equipment you already have. Thanks again David.

@@PerfectNormal I’ve owned two EOS 1D Mark IV’s over the past two years and have absolutely enjoyed using them. Even had the opportunity to use a 1Ds Mark III alongside as well (hidden gem in the camera world). While I do enjoy the everything that makes a EOS 1D Mark IV a “1D,” quite often, I wish I still had a full frame sensor to take wide angle shots. The Mark IV produces remarkable results at 6400 ISO, and I have no issue pushing it to 12800 ISO for personal use. Resolution is more than enough, I don’t really need more than 12mp anyways, but the autofocus algorithm is a bit dated compared to modern EOS cameras. There isn’t too much to ask for with this unit besides a secondary joystick, but again, I see a full frame camera in the future as an upcoming purchase of mine. Just food for thought…

I got a 1DX MK1 and if you know how to handle it you will never need to buy another camera again. Everything else just ends up being G.A.S and overkill (look at all the PRO images that have been shot using 1DX over the years, just confirming the facts of the matter). We now have WAAAAY more than we ever need, but still some like getting "drunk" through by manifacturers feeding us new spec, new features, new this + that, faster this + that.... even though its not needed to shoot a great photo 99 times out of a 100.
