great video! I tried this, but many screws were impossible to remove! I just gave up rather than end up stripping them.

Thank you for this! Made my task so much easier. I have a 5d ii that won't turn on, tried all of the usual things, removing battery, card, clock battery, etc. The battery door switch is working correctly. I figured it was a fuse, did this test and all of them passed. Any idea of what else I should look into?

Hard to tell... in this case, I start to replace camera parts from a working 5D MK II. I would start with the power PCB (where the fuses are), then the main PCB. Also, seems obvious, but don't forget to check your camera with an another battery... sometimes batteries fail.

How do you keep the screws organized?

I have a paper divided into sections, and I put the screws there at the positions how they came off. I have a video where you can see that (50D disassembly), link is in the description below.

excellent video, very good your channel I always learn a lot, I have a canon 5D MK II and the flex cable connector lock broke, where I could only buy the connector to change or where I could get a scrap board to remove this piece ? if you can help me, thank you very much.

- ebay or aliexpress, sometimes they sell PCBs - local camera repair shop, maybe they have a broken PBC with a working connector you need Keep in mind that you need a heatgun to remove and install the connector, and it is not that easy to do it.

Check the fuses, maybe that is the problem.

there is a rubber flap that is used in the battery compartment, the flap is used when you use a dummy battery. My flap just broke and i am looking to replace it - how big of a job is it? it looks like i have to completely disassemble the camera?

Well, not completely, but you would have to remove most of the covers of the camera. Actually, I wouldn't bother to replace that rubber, the camera can be used perfectly without it.

@@CamerasLensesEtc Thanks for the response and yeah i agree with you, it's just now it is less waterproof- so it just bothers me a lil. I'm not going to invest hours of work and potentially brick my camera because of a tiny piece of rubber. So if anyone has this issue- really think about whether its worth it. I was hoping it was an easier job than it appeared -it probably isn't easy at all!

Hi I have a 5dii its been dropped with no visible signs of damage. When I turn it on now the back screen lights up a dark blue only the top screen has nothing .the shutter works in all speeds What could be wrong please can you help solve the problem . Thank you dev.

Hard to tell by this... the solution is to have a working, same camera, and start replacing the parts of the non-working camera, and then you can see if the part is working or not, and sooner or later you find out which part is damaged.

I don't know. I heard that the Canon 7D has the same problem, and the repair is basically the same, but if you have the same symptoms with your 5D MK III, then check the fuses.

@@CamerasLensesEtc Thank you, most likely I will send the camera to Canon Service Center. I hardly think I can do the things you did in this video!
