Hey! I don't remember getting notified for this comment but better late than never! So i would recommend the Canon M50 because i've been using it to this very day but with the new Canon M6 Mark II i would recommend that version over the regular M6. Since you do want 4k, the M6 Mark II does have 4k that's NOT cropped.

Honestly both are great. I prefer the M50 because of the screen but if you like the screen flipped to the top, the M6 or the M6 mark II are great choices as well

true, but sometimes i don't have my phone on me nor do I want to connect the app to the camera. It's all based on preference. With the M6 Mark II, I might be able to tolerate it since it provides 4K video with no crop.

Both the M6 and the M50 have identical lowlight performance and autofocus. I do have to mention that the autofocus IN lowlight in the M50 is better than the M6.

I believe photo quality on the M6 and M50 are almost identical. For me I still prefer the M50 due to other things like the flip screen

Lilli Laa The M6 and M50's image quality is great too. I don't know how it compares to the 700D image quality but the M50 has Canon's most updated image processor with the DIGIC 8. The M6 has the older but still awesome DIGIC 7.

I started this channel in August of 2017 so I've been running it for around 16 months (and 1 day at the time of writing this). The first 6 months were really slow but this video "blew up" and in turn brought a lot of traffic to my channel.

M50 imo!

Hey Samuel, I would do this comparison for you but I unfortunately sold my M6. You posed a great question and I'm also curious to see which would fare better.

Both cameras are great for portrait photography even if you're using it with a tripod to take pictures of yourself. There's really no difference in quality whether you use the M50 or M6. If you want to take portraits of others, the M50 has a built in viewfinder while for the M6 you would have to buy a separate attachment.

If you're not concerned with vlogging, I would recommend the M50 because of the build in electronic viewfinder. Taking photos with a viewfinder is so much better than without. Let me know if you have any more questions!

Unfortunately, no. The M6 has an LP-17 battery while the M50 has an LP-12.

You would still be able to but that would block the flip screen if you wanna see yourself. What I did before was buy a flash mount and mount the mic onto there but that's just an extra thing you'd have to buy.

Yes, there is a difference in the amount of pictures you can take if you're only using the viewfinder on the M50. If you only use the viewfinder, the battery lasts longer hence more pictures.

Thanks for your answer. That would be the common sense, since the back screen is one of the most energy consuming parts. I got this link support-asia.canon-asia.com/contents/ASIA/EN/8203868100.html#1 but it still does not say how many images when using only viewfinder. Perhaps that would be something to test when you go shooting. One time with fully charged battery you use just the screen without using the viewfinder until the camera says "the battery is flat" and another time with the same battery fully charged you shoot using just the viewfinder with screen closed so you do not check the shots after shooting but after when the battery is completely flat again. I am sometimes in places without power and that would be something good to know. Next year I was planing to purchase the M6 but after watching your video I have changed my mind. :)

Christian Feliciano The M50 has a different processor from the M6 so the image is going to look different between the two cameras. I would recommend just getting another M6 because you'll have the same image processor and it'll be cheaper than the M50. The M50 though, has 4K if you're interested in that for your b-roll.

The m50 have the same 24mp sensor but has the newer processor, the auto focus has 143 points which is way higher. Also you can do 24, 30, 60, and 120 frames per sec. Not to mention the 4k though not that useful. P.S there is a speed booster in the works for this to fix the cropping so with 4k will be close to the 15mm crop with the 11 to 22mm lens on.

Derrick Weil I recently saw a video on the speed booster and that solves the 4k problem on the M50. I might consider picking one up.

It would depend on what you're going to be using it for. Photo: M6 - Image quality is pretty identical between the two cameras Video: M50 - Fully articulating screen is a huge plus especially if you're going to do vlogs. It has 4K capability and 120fps slow mo video. Both video and photo: M50 - The M50 is an overall better camera in my opinion because of it's features and improvements. Essentially, you would be spending an extra $300 for 4k video capability, a fully articulating screen, a better image processor, and built in viewfinder. If any of those are important to you, definitely go for the M50. If not, a like new condition M6 would be a very capable camera! and you save $300! If it's a money constraint, as of Feb 17, the Canon M6 is cheaper than the M50. For features, the M50 will be better. So it depends on what you're looking for.

freeley oh ok! i thought u had finally made a choice and picked the m6 but now i’m not sure and keep changing my mind! I want to sell a few of my electronic things and i don’t know if i should get one or both and sell the 2 camera i have currently. i would love to have both but it would be expensive to buy both. and the thing is, for vloging, i prefer the flip up screen because it a lot more compact and up top rather than the flip screen in the side and also i’m trying to get the smallest one and they are almost the same size but i think it is my mind thinking the canon m50 is a lot bigger because of the viewfinder. i also entered a giveaway for a canon m6. hopefully i win! but idk what would be my best bet because the canon m50 has more features especially for photography.🤷🏼‍♀️

You should stick with buying one for now and if you really need a second camera, then buy one. The size difference between the cameras isn't that big but the viewfinder is definitely something I can't live without. Did you end up winning the M6?

That's great! Either of the cameras in the video would work for you and the type of videos you're making. I would recommend the M50 over the M6 because the flip screen flips out sideways instead of on top like the M6. Although the M6 feels like a more "premium" camera, the M50 makes up for it for being a much more practical camera for more situations and scenarios. The viewfinder itself is a huge plus in my opinion. Whatever you plan on getting, make sure to check it out through the link in the description! so far, so good.. i have the same obsevations with you regarding the buttons.. specially the video record button.. so i used the shutter button instead, by re-assigning it to be the record button, when in video mode..

what about the battery time

hamimannn the M6 has better battery life than the M50. However, if you take advantage of the power saving mode on the M50 you can extend the battery life significantly

The image quality between the M50 and M6 is very similar but the M50 will have little bit of an edge to the M6 because of it's new DIGIC 8 processor. The absence of the viewfinder on the M6 would also make the M50 a better choice in my opinion since you take more stills than video.
