@@Chris-ey7zy Yet people that own Canon cameras hate Canon's IBIS.. lol people will always complain. the Canon Eos R8 takes out Nikons whole mirrorless line up and competes and beats the Nikon z9, Sony a1, fuji flag ship cameras with 40fps! (40fps with Dual pixel AF 2 for $1500.00!!!!!). Also has "4K 60p NO Crop", c-log 3, and its Full Frame! digital stab is phenomenal as well! a really stacked camera for sure.

No IBIS and low weight makes it perfect for drones

@@Catxslam the names still makes no sense no matter which cameras have ibis. There’s clearly no thought behind the naming strategy. Even Sony has done this conundrum, they have the a6100 and 6600 are both newer than the 6300 and 6400. At least they do have a distinction being 6000 vs A7 to differentiate crop from full frame.

@@joshuachubbphotography Sony’s a6100, a6400 and a6600 are in the same generation; being updates of a6000, a6300 and a6500 respectively. Then there’s the simpler a5000 & a5100 (that seems to be abandoned now) The naming convention still sucks, but that’s that..

S5II with all those goodies but a 4k60 1.5x crop is a complete SCAM. If they push the price to 3 grand with 4k60 NO CROP it will probably sell like hotcakes.

@@JinKazama92 4K60 is useless. 60 fps is not slow motion and should not be used in normal motion. So what's the point? A7S3 had 4K120 and released 3 years ago. If you think it's too much asking 4K120 at this price point then you'll never gonna get it for cheap. 3 years is a huge amount of time in technology world but why give it for lower price when people demand less for their cash?

I beg to disagree. The R50 will be the most sold camera in the next 3 years.

My M50 kit lens start at f3.5 so if I want to go with new kit lens f4.5 I will loose a lot of light, and of course I can't use my EF-M lenses on new R50. With no 3rd party lenses like Sigma I don't see how Canon can cater for my content creator needs.

No sheet you are spot on! I originally bought the RP and it came with the 24-105 kit lens not even the F4. When I sold it to get the R I kept it. It's a great lens so I guess I'm no dummy!

whats the issue? Yes their lenses are garbage, but the R8 is a damn good camera for a even reasonable price! Combine the R8 with adapted EF glass and you get one of the cheapest, still capable full frame systems (and even oversampled 4k60, UNCROPPED!)

@@harrison00xXx It doesn't even have IBIS, battery life is expected to be abysmal, EVF and screen are both pure garbage, combined with trash tier build quality made to the lowest standard. 1500$ is not cheap for a damn body with such shortcomings. You can buy freaking Xiaomi 13 Pro for 800$ with 3x 1 inch sensor camera setup and enjoy your vacation as spare cash without ever worrying about Canon tossing it's crap ever again. Three Japanese corporate assholes need a big shake up and a bunch of slaps of reality.

@@KonicaHexanon No IBIS is also something good, at least i would not need the IBIS in my R7 that much as well, but sure its nice to have. Battery life should be ok for photography, and for videos you better expect to have at least 1, better 2-3 spare batteries ready thats true. I did with my EOS RP at 0°C astrophotography, i needed mostly for 6-7 hours a night 2 batteries for the RP, so at least 3 hours battery runtime nonstop long exposures. I used the EOS RP for over 2 years and i LOVED the camera, super compact, very userfriendly and good enough in the hands. It was probably the best camera i ever had, the R8 is basically a huge upgrade of the RP and finally usable and with a high chance even very good for video. I guess you have overseen the fact it can shoot 4k60 downsampled without a crop? That is something nobody else have done yet on mirrorless/hybride cameras for that price and its very asked from videographers. Its 4k60 no crop is not really my goal, i partially even prefer the 4k60 crop mode on my R7 for extra reach on top of the crop sensor but again: many want "no crop" video. Also, it has still a ton of nice features you dont even find on some 3000$+ bodies (pre recording for photo and video, focus stacking,...)

@@harrison00xXx Sorry but you can't sell the same camera two times, actually even asking more money the second time for the same camera. It might have an AMAZING sensor but if usability and user experience are nonexistent and crippled from every possible corner in order to satisfy shareholders. Only if it had a decent battery size I would have even considered it, but Canon made a fatal flaw once again. I hope Chinese manufacturers get into the camera body game soon enough, I can't bear the Japanese corporate snobs any longer.

@@KonicaHexanon Do you see the RP and R8 as the same camera? LOL I wish they would be the same, so i would not have had any reason to upgrade my RP to the R7 a while ago. Sadly they differ a lot... RPs low light performance is way below the R8/R6 II, RP is slower in many ways, RP has potentially less battery runtime than the R8, RP is somewhat "limited" in features but R8 is packed with enough stuff and not even intentionally crippled And it has "decent" battery life, just not good one, but decent for its size.

In standard colour, it does face priority exposure. It's the sky be damned in that mode :)

@@richardcates8605 the R8 shoots full frame 4k, not crop, IBIS is a premium feature reserved for higher end models, and yeah, the little battery kinda sucks, that's one of MANY reasons I'd never buy an R8 or an RP, but the major shortcomings of the RP was the abysmal dynamic range, and the significant 4k crop, which they did fix

in combination with a 17-55 2.8 and a drop in filter adapter probably still very "compact" and universal usable from 17-250mm. Tho there must be really a reason to use telezooms at all, and for many peoples its not just tele, its also a big aperture and depth of field, otherwise teles doesnt make much sense. As long i "used" my regular telezooms... i had not much purpose for it. As i began with wildlife i got fast rid of these regular teles and got for example a 150-600 6.3 and a Canon RF 800 F11 since a basic tele was MUCH TOO SHORT and for 1-2x a year landscape in vacation there was not much sense in this 70-300 and similar telezooms. I was never a fan of Canon EF-S teles, in fact the very old EF 75-300 IS USM (first gen IS) i used for years and the newer 70-300 (2nd gen IS + better optics) i tested once were just utterly garbage, i really HATED to use my 75-300 if i needed it, bad image quality, noisy, bad stabilizer, bad autofocus which wasnt precise or fast... i can only expect the APS-C lenses even worse. Especially the additional 50mm were just great (and still not enough...) and i also planned to upgrade to full frame any day. The 75-300 was a lot better on full frame (in center image quality, corners even worse....) but still... this focal range was now somewhat usable on the wider and with real 75mm, but the real 300mm made it even worse in reach than a 55-250 on APS-C... Im not so sure if canon is the way to go if you are looking for reasonable good and priced telezooms in the 50-300mm range, there is only the mighty 70-200 2.8(Mk2 at absolute least, better the noticable more expensive but also sharper Mk3) and a 100-400 (EF Mk2 version) or 100-500 additionally which are super expensive

the 70-200 2.8L Mk2 EF version probably pairs very good with the R8 (or R6, even R3) i think, it lacks noticable in sharpness so its also somewhat affordable, but the 20-24MP full frame range is not too demanding yet. I personally use for my tele range on the R7, so APS-C a full frame Sigma 150-600C 6.3 (heavy, thick boy...) and a 100mm 2.8 macro to complement the gap between the regular 17-55 2.8 "kit" lens and the wide end of the Sigma. As stated... not much usecases for anything in between 80 and 250mm, mainly im below 80mm or above 250mm, while primes with 80-130mm and bigger aperture serve as portrait/lowlight or macro stuff.

@@scottkasper6378 For the price i think you are hard pressed to beat it. Both Dustin Abbot and Christopher Frost praises it in their reviews. Obviously it's no 2.8 L series, but i am very pleased with the results i am getting with my R7.

It's perfect for me and my needs. The R50 is a heaven sent. Just because it doesn't work for your needs doesn't mean it has no place. There are milllions of user profiles out there, Let people do their thing.

Yes it is which is why I haven't upgraded to any Canon since the R. Rather have a 4k cripple than dealing with overheating issues!

@@kevinbatts2804 totally agree. I originally had the RP but sold it to get the R and have been very happy with it and I'm someone who also owns the A7S3, GH5 and the new OM1. Also it rarely gets mentioned but you can record in two codecs for every frame rate All-I and IPB go figure.
