Physically, it looks very much like the RF 16mm f/2.8 STM which I also consider to be a pancake lens. Good tip about the field-of-view with the iPhone. This could be a useful lens on a gimbal. Nice and light and, personally, I find that I often end up around 28mm when using zoom lenses on a gimbal.

I can see why you’d think that, it is small as well. They are very similar Thanks! Yes it would be great on a gimbal! You would probably be able to hold it/shoot much longer without fatigue 💪🏻

It definitely will! I don’t know what camera you have but the fact that a full frame body can now be a travel camera is amazing! I’m still loving mine

Perfect!! I think I said this in the video but try using the 1.6crop as a zoom if you feel like you can’t get close enough to what you’re trying to shoot. I use this more than I thought I would!

Ok, but overpriced, exposed barrel and (relatively) loud AF. Lens hood, is prime example of Canon rip off on a “budget” lens. How will the plastic lens elements develop over time, will it discolor etc

Thanks for your POV. Maybe I’ll do another review after a year or 2 of using it. So far it hasn’t left my EOSR ☺️

Amen to that! Haha thanks for the extra info you made me literally laugh out loud! 🤣 so many people comment on things they don’t own or haven’t tried. I guess we’re in it together to see how it holds up!
