Go behind the scenes with director Andrew Fried (Chef's Table), DP Bryant Fisher (Hamilton's America), and the crew of “From Dock to Dish,” shot in 4K on Canon’s EOS C200. Watch as the filmmakers discuss the making of the film from production through post, as well as speak to the many features of the versatile EOS C200, including the ability to record 4K internally using Canon’s proprietary Cinema RAW Light, optimized for HDR. Canon is promoting this cam to uses who want to upgrade from C100 to get better features. And C100 users are mainly small production ppl who uses still lenses and work alone or in pairs or 3. This promo video production team uses all high end equipment and lens and doesn't fit the user profile of the target users. The cine lens 17-120 costs a whooping $26,350. Why don't Canon shoot a promo video with 1-2 crew with still lenses and min gear. It will be more convincing.

This is a slam-dunk, spot-on point about the tone-deafness of marketing departments at even major corporations like Canon that are supposed to be driven by real-world mass consumption. One wonders why they let the egoes of the poster-children corporate filmmakers running the shoot, to fail to scale their production properly to the target market of the C200.

I watched the BTS before the film. While the film looks great, I was expecting something better considering the large budget. Someone like Brandon Lee or Phillip Bloom could of made the tale so much more inspiring. Considering I'm thinking of purchasing this, this setup is nothing like how I would be using the camera. Thankfully Bloom is currently testing this camera, in the exact same way I would be using it. So look forward to his findings.

Kenny Shem The sad part is with all the equipment the final result failed to impress me. You think they would of found more talented people to work with them and focus less on the $$$$$.

Frankly speaking, if the project's budget allows the rental use of such lens and other high end gear as depicted in the promo BTS, and raw is required, I will simply go for RED setup.

TheGearSet, with that level kind of money, it is much easier to pitch and sell the project to clients when you say you will be using RED for their project. Clients technically may not know RED system but quite a few of them know the brand and that resonate with high quality cinematic film.

The DP lost all credibility with me when he said he liked the C200 because he didn't need extra gear on the camera to record raw. I'm still buying the camera, but it would be nice to have a little more authenticity.

Shane Harder I’ve used this camera a ton and it’s true you don’t need extra stuff to record raw

I am wondering how they are powering the 702 monitor there...never seen a solution like that. Does the powercable run directly into the monitor itself?!
@CanonUSA

Hi Johannes: It appears that the production is powering the monitor and other accessories from a third party power pack. You may wish to check the Small HD website for more information on the Small HD 702 power options. We hope this helps.

I wondered what camera they used to shoot the interviews and BTS. “From Dock to Dish” don't tell anything about the camera. zero outdoors sunny contrasty environment. All indoor and the outdoors was on a foggy day

Hi there. The interviews and the BTS were shot on the EOS C300 Mark II. We hope this answers your question!

So weird to see a crew rig a body on a Movi with a 50mm prime without a focus motor?

A crippled camera codec and bite rate. Bare in mind this is suppose to be a cinema camera. 4.2.0 isn't a codec for 2017. This is same codec as the C100 that came out how many years ago. $7,500 this camera should have at the start a codec 4.4.2 150 Mbps. and 4.4.4 pro res on the high end. Forget that raw stuff put that on the next C400. No one is going to buy anymore C100's or C100 markii. the codec are old. Why do think people are buying Mini Ursa, Sony, and Red Ravens, Kinefinity and now panasonic. Some of those cameras are out of stock and have waiting lists, they can't make them fast enough. And once people get into those systems its going while before they leave they're committed. You gave away the DSLR market share to sony, panasonic and now fuji, Sigma is now eating up lens market and now your giving up your cinema line. SMH!! wake up!! its not to late people are waiting but they're not going to wait to long. Canon Why?? Really!
