Director Ryan Connolly of Film Riot used Canon EOS C200 digital cinema cameras to shoot his short film, BALLiSTIC. This behind-the-scenes film, Making BALLiSTIC, details his choice of the C200 for the film, and its use in the shooting of the BTS, then takes a look at the workflow behind this superb short “that blurs the lines between Hollywood and independent.”

I think short feature films can be more challenging. You have to convey a lot in a short amount of time. Great job as always, and thank you for sharing about what it takes to pull something like this off. I think I’ve extended my lunch break long enough.

I love Ryan Connolly but seeing his past short films i just know hes very technical about everything including how he makes his shorts. In presentation it shows alot of potential but in lacks any emotion.

MAD MAX i think that’s more to do with the tropes of the genre as opposed to Ryan’s ability to direct emotionally rich scenes

MAD MAX I completely agree. It's very impressive to watch all of the bts clips and I'm grateful for everything Ryan does, but his films just don't grip me emotionally.

That´s because there´s no story to be had in his films. He said himself that he spends a couple of days finishing a screenplay. That´s never a good sign.

I think you're confusing low budget with micro/no budget. Film Riot back in the day was focused on micro/no budget, now they've moved up to low budget. Give it another couple years and they'll be out of the low budget arena and on to bigger better things.

20k??? cmon man stop with the bs. You bought/rented 7 of these. that alone is way more. Now renting those lenses? did you even pay your crew? Plus post dude. buying alll those hardrives and Making proxies for all those RawLight files would have been more than 20k lol. and desqueezing it? good luck! 20k gets you nowhere.
