DOE need to step up their games. Lots of big talk about deploying money but very little being put into action, except $$$ for GM and Ford to do stock buy backs with.

Minimum 16.8k industry buys is a lot more gas on the fire than most other indie/new car companies, $40k for the consumer/"Lyft"style model isn't half bad either when even Tesla 3s are still demanding that much, all in all I think Canoo will do just fine

I will be very disappointed in America indeed if Canoo fails. After all, Tesla is pretty much a Chinese EV now.

Canoo should export these elsewhere in the world as public transport vans, bring "made in USA" back. Hard to compete with other country that sells EVs for cheap. People there should work on these vans instead of flipping burgers.

I believe the idea is like the lottery, the more you support them the more you are to win Except that others supporting it makes you more likely to win then less. Invest what you support, but never more than what you are willing to loose. I invested in 5 companies in a range of stabilities, including Fisker to my disappointment in them

Dave, Sorry for the late reply, honestly every time I came back to reply it was hard to find the time to tackle everything but here we go 1. Do you think the pricing estimates are still accurate? - The last information I got about pricing was back in October. www.canooers.com/post/canoo-msrp-pricing-revealed 2. retail rollout will come in waves - Yes. Focused waves on areas to allow them to service and provide maintenance. Not sure when areas outside of the 5 stats might get their own Canoos, although I think Kingbee or Zeeba will offer national rentals? 3. I could see Canoo and Gatik coming together to provide autonomous vehicles for Walmart. I think long term goal yeah they want to like everyone else but for now level 2.5/3 is where they'll start 4. For UI it's appeared unchanged for so long, I didn't really bother messing with it. IMO it'll come out much more refined than what they have now. What is on the gamma builds is more for data collection Thank you for such a thoughtful comment!

I appreciate the effort you put into keeping us all informed and I value your insights and opinions more than the videos and “reviews” I’ve seen from others. Pricing.. I’m still impressed. The base model is going to be an awesome entry point for many people looking to get into a more useful EV platform than what we’re seeing on the roads today. If a long-term rental/lease is the option retail users are provided, I’d probably consider it - but the idea of a small “lounge on wheels” is something I’d want to personalize and keep, rather than ride-share with others.. I know many feel differently and are totally okay with a pay-per-use model. Looking forward to learning more around the retail waves when the time comes. Level 2.5/3 autonomy is plenty for me and my needs.. Others might feel differently, and it’s understandable if it takes additional time to develop those features, could even be a next-gen LV 2.0 model IMO.. Wouldn’t deter me from ordering a 1.0 LV. Given the pace of development in the autonomous space, it seems the significant challenges are around maneuvering in big cities and bad weather conditions.. and I’m not sure technology will solve all the challenges. I heard about a recent situation with one of the companies developing a driverless prototype that was halted mid-route because a disgruntled pedestrian placed a traffic safety cone on the hood of the car..! I take those sorts of stories with a bit of skepticism, but it still underscores the challenges.. Seems like until regulations change, complete self driving is a ways off and only poses a liability for companies and owners.. Seems more likely cities will designate specific routes and corridors (or lanes) for autonomous vehicles, not too dissimilar from HOV or carpool lanes on highways. Sure, there’s tremendous value in developing a system that could take an unlicensed passenger from door-to-door, but as a company, I’m not sure it’s a worthwhile endeavor quite yet. Consider other large markets around the world, and the complexity only increases… The UI.. makes sense.. but are we thinking that’ll roughly be the cabin layout? With no large or prominent screen in the center? If so, I’m 100% okay with that and only having the smaller screen to the left of the steering wheel. Odd trends in the industry regarding screens.. especially with some companies even offering dashboard-mounted screens on the passenger side.. It would make sense if the vehicle was totally autonomous, then it could display all sorts of useful trip info and highlight points of interest during the drive, but we’re not there and the hardware in most vehicles today will not be suitable for those situations when/if the time comes… anyway… I can’t stop thinking about all the cool custom gadgets Canoo and third party companies can develop for LV. Even something simple like an exterior wrap has awesome potential because of the LV’s design.. Thanks again! And best of luck Canoo!

they have EPA rating of 217, with current battery tech, but they are modular and upgradable, such as with Panasonic 4680s when they are able to get their hands on those.

I found them to actually be comfortable and I had no notion of getting sick from facing an unusual direction. I probably wouldn’t want to sit in one for a long duration or road trip, but for most applications they’ll be fine IMO. As far as safety I would love to see what the crash testing says about them - have to wait and see.

@@wheresPaunch I’ve watch the crash test videos. It’s questionable. Would never place children on the sides and think for legal purposes, Canoo would be wise to ADVISE against it. Because simply saying no. Don’t do this. Has a bit of a reverse psychology effect on the general populous. I’ll be genuinely excited if this, and the aptera make it to market! Two very unique, ORIGINAL designed vehicles. The Aptera has one MAJOR thing going for it - and that’s the thing I wish I had know I could patent in 7th grade when we were discussing hybrid vehicles before the Prius hit the road: embedded solar panels. Great questions! Im sad I didn’t capture anything on the trunk or seats folding down 🤦‍♂️ - The trunk is pretty good. Not huge, but there’s plenty of room, and the rear seats can fold inward for more if needed. Without folding, plenty of room for groceries, or a couple golf bags!

The roof is tinted, no screen on the ones I was in but maybe for production or there will be 3rd party makers for it

@@wheresPaunch I have a Tesla and as much as I like the open feel, it gets crazy hot in the summer, even tinted and with a pop in shade, I guess the adventure version wont have a glass roof? either way not a deal breaker!

@@wheresPaunch I was invited to sit in a what was more or less a very rough box at their HQ a while ago, they had a version with a row of benches and the "loft", that was pretty much what got me hooked, getting in and out, the openness in the back is unparalleled, I really hope they make it and soon.

@@paulschefz I have a model 3 and dislike the AC system, you have to blast it on 10 or else it never feels like its working, and then it's too much cold air and jus toverall my biggest complaint about the Model3, everything else is great tho

That space, although it could be used for storage, is really the crumble zone of the vehicle and isn’t really meant for storage. There is a version seen on the pick up that instead of the window has a little storage area with power sockets a fold down table. I regret not filming anything in the trunk space, but it has enough room behind the seats for like a couple golf bags or small bags/luggage. There are multiple tie down zones inside the vehicle that could be used to strap down items if you were having to transport large items inside the vehicle and didn’t want them to shift around

@@wheresPaunch I suspect we can all agree this is rather strange. It would be awkward to use this as a family vehicle or as an uber/lyft trying to take people to the airport with luggage etc. Once I see how much room really is in front of the rear passengers I'm sure it will make more sense. Also, I don't quite understand why the two front seats are so close together unless this van is much smaller/narrower than standard vehicles?

I think the passenger consumer vehicles are far enough away it's not a big deal. When the time is closer they will share their ideas and designs to improve the experience for retail users. Maybe captain chairs, maybe moveable seats

Honestly, to me the Canoo would be more useful if it had less rear legroom and more cargo space. I don't need social space in a vehicle, and I don't engage in "activities" there. If it had a normal rear bench seat farther forward which could be folded down when not in use, I'd be very interested, but then people would think of it as a minivan which I guess is supposed to be some sort of poison.

@@wheresPaunch this is a problem that will put lots of us off as no one wants to share there sitting space with their luggage, things they are taking to the dump, etc. t needs to have a seating system something like an old Renault espace or a Skoda yeti in a conventional layout. These could then be slid or taken out as needed. If you want to go upmarket then the new VW multivan system would be great *but would be more expensive*

They could do enclosed storage, there is a version of the pickup truck that has a fold down work bench/power station instead of the street view window. You probably don’t want to have open storage up there in the event it becomes launched at high speed in an collision

So the very first deliveries should be next week to NASA and soon to Walmart, but those were from a limited production run. They’re outfitting a factory in Oklahoma City right now - hopefully they can start production there this year. They will only start with commercial delivery and service vehicles first. Retail users like us won’t get a chance until 2024 probably late in the year

@@wheresPaunch A ramp is useful for a lot of things. Yes, for me, I want to be able to bring a wheelchair and/or bicycles on and off easily. However, I owned a pickup truck for years. How are you going to get a 400lb+ snow blower on and off? A lawnmower? Heavy pieces of furniture? Etc. Elon basically kicked every other pickup manufacturer in the world in the nards when he showed the electric ramp on the Cybertruck. Rivian was all like, "We have this feature, we have that feature," all of which together was not worth as much as a ramp. Canoo keeps harping on what a good work/delivery truck this thing will be. Needs a ramp.
