Having fine hair, I would never brush my hair like that. I mainly use combs. These people have never had a problem with their hair, that is why they abuse it. If I brushed my hair like that, it would cause breakage and I don't have enough hair to risk that.

The problem with DIY projects such as this one is that the end result is completely different than what she had in mind. Imagine going to a salon asking for blonde highlights, but walking out with chestnut brown. And while the chestnut brown looks good on her as well, the amount of bleaching (a.k.a. damage) done was more than necessary.

You my friend are my favorite part of my day!!!! One similarity with all of these "home colorist" is the obvious lacking of common sense!!! This is the type of girl who would waltz into the shop, insist she had virgin hair until the cows came home!!! And would want to go from a 2day self relaxed, store box over processed bleach & color blue/black/plum/red to a multicolored neon selection with a time limit of 25 mins tops!

Hey common sense would tell you "ding ding brain hair should not have smoke coming from it" . That's what I am saying, some people who do their own hair at home are great!!! But being in the industry for( omg 🤮 I just realized I'm old AF sorry, ) many many years you see some shit that unimaginable comprehension get kicked out the door. Hey I'm all for people that are fearless and do what the want. Just sometimes wish they would listen to that little voice inside their heads. You explain this so damn well, Buddha. Love that! You did peripherally convince me that while I am in a financially difficult time, I will NOT color/bleach/highlight, and probably not EVEN tone my hair at home:) last coloring of any kind was 2019, then, Nov. 2021, "baby lights" that were a bit more than I wanted. SO, she toned it last, it was REALLY nice, but I don't have the money for salon treatments, I will treat it well, use purple shampoo occasionally, and see if it finally starts turning silver;) I'm a 60 y.o. level 8 ash blonde.

Hey hair buddha. I doubt you'll see this comment but, I just wanted to say that your videos have been a wonderful source of comfort to me over the last day or two. I'm very stressed out because my country (America) feels like it's imploding in on itself and, more than ever, I find myself seeking the comfort of videos like this... I will confess, I've made a recent commitment to dye my hair red with henna, partially out of stress and partially because I want to try something new... maybe being a red-head will give me the strength to do a little more than sit in my dorm room and fume... Don't worry, I've already watched your videos on Henna and I'm hoping to use the tips and tricks you spoke about. Thank you.

For some reason, Sally's customers don't seem to read labels. That Wella "toner" says on the label it's "Permanent Toner", which is why its instructions say use 20 vol. I guess Wella assumes hairdressers aren't going to bleach clients' hair light enough for actual toner to work? 🤷🏻‍♀️

It absolutely drives me crazy when they say “There’s no going back now.” Yeah, there is! Wash it out and go to a professional! 🤦🏼‍♀️

I used to do a very heavy Frost on my hair, that is long and curly like the singer Stevie Nicks from the band Fleetwood Mac. I would do mine like every 4 to 5 weeks because I didn't like any brown showing through the curls. I also used a special type of cap that was called a "million-dollar cap" because it was made out of foam and not your plastic with holes in it. You could pull hair through as little orvas much all over. You had to be careful to try and not to get much bleach on the foam cap.causevit would bleed through. I like the fact because i did mine so often I had many different shades of blonde - brown it looked like natural hair color.

Moral of the story.....go to a reputable hairdresser and get your hair cut/coloured. I have very fine hair and I know that I'm safer at a hairdresser than doing it myself.
