half the globe between us, but here we are having quite a bit in common. no fibre community here either and I think getting connected around the world with this medium is amazing and inspirational and makes me feel better, because I now know, there are many other people out there just like me, and I´m not awkward or strange, just me and enjoying the wonderful world of wool, fabrics and loving to sew and crochet and now starting knitting, So one subscriber more - all the best from Germany

I have multicolored vibrant sock yarn that I paired with a solid. My pattern choices are quite different from yours. Got me thinking. Seems to me the pattern you're thinking of has too fine details to show well. Stone Knits Happy Poppy Socks strike me as showing both yarns better. The patterns I went for are Faux Cable Socks and Stained Glass (Operation Sock Drawer). Two I'm thinking of are Easy Mosaic socks and, another from the OSD book, Funhouse. I do like geometric patterns.

Hey! I just discovered your channel yesterday and have been working my way through your videos! I also started my knitting channel recently after wanting to do it for so long! I am glad I'm doing it, but I also totally feel the pressure now that people are actually watching! Anyways, I have really enjoyed your videos so far! PS: I love the Little Cottonwood dress you're wearing! I have a few dresses from them and I love them!

Hello and Welcome! I'll have to check out your channel! :) It's definitely an odd feeling because like you said, I love doing it but it's funny to feel the illusion of people watching and not wanting to disappoint them. Anyway, I'm so happy you enjoyed my videos. Thank you for watching and stopping by. I love Little Cottonwood! This is my first dress from them and I really want more!

Happy to see you again! I bought 2 sweater quantities of Echoview Fiber Mill Lapidary a while back and made sweaters from both of them. I also love that yarn! I had leftovers from one of the sweaters and made socks and they turned out really nice and are wearing well. I was sad when they closed as well. Happy you were able to find the yarn locally. I have visited the Finger Lakes area many time and when you talk about your area, I feel I can imagine it. Now I will have a couple yarn stores to check out when I return there, Looking forward to hearing more from you. Take care!

So happy to see you here again! I love Lapidary 😭 It has such a great color palette as well. I’m sure your sweaters are lovely! More and more yarn/fiber related shops are popping up in the Finger Lakes region. It’s really very exciting. It was fun to look at the fiber trail passport and see some that I didn’t even know about. Thanks for stopping by. ❤️

I relate to the whole raffle experience, yes, it's the anticipación of will the Gods look down upon me and let me win 😂😂 mostly I never do, but that too is part of the fun 'cause then you can treat yourself to a tea and donut, right? 😂 where I live we only have 1 yarn shop but the sisters who run it are great, they go out of their way to source yarns if possible and they do knitting classes but you can just pop in anytime with your project and they will help you if you get stuck; everyone who goes just has that feeling of belonging which is so nice. I find it funny how in many countries people hold their knitting needles differently, here in Spain many years ago I was constantly being told off (what you might call today bullying) that I was holding my needles wrong as opposed to how we hold them in England and was shown by my mum, and sometimes I still get confused on how to pick up my needles and knit. Now with social media I'm seeing that there are very many different ways to hold needles, people just have to find the best way for them. Have you ever experienced this? Getting back to your yarns, I love the fucsia and green, they are going to give your radish sock a lovely pop of colour, I hope we get to see them finished one day. So, have a lovely week and good knitting ❤
@caprinecottage
@caprinecottage Ай бұрын
I love that you relate to the raffle experience haha. It sounds like your local yarn store is really a special place! It so interesting about the different way to hold your knitting needles, though I'm sorry that people made a big deal out of it/bullied you. I also agree that it doesn't matter what way you knit but to find something that works for you and makes you happy. I have seen often in the online knitting community that continental style is seen as superior to english style. But I was taught English style (where you wrap the yarn and hold it in your right hand) as a small child and have never been able to efficiently pick up the continental technique. I try not to let it bother me as knitting is my happy time and place. I really hope to get to the radish socks soon! I think there will be one pair of socks between now and them though. Thank you for a lovely comment! I hope you also have a great week.

Hi Anne! Thank you so much for your videos! I have enjoyed them so much!❤ Just had twin doelings born this afternoon! It was fun to see a clip of your coated caprine. I live in the Appalachian mountains of SW VA. We have a couple of flocks of sheep, a little goat herd to keep the brush down. I was also sad when Echoview closed! They were the closest mill to me and I took wool there for processing. Yay for going after the podcast goal-- you are doing great!

Wow! Thank you for your kind and thoughtful comment. It's very nice to hear some positive feedback. Twin doelings! How exciting! We haven't had babies born here in a few years but through extenuating circumstances we ended up with our little Phoenix (in the coat) who is currently living in the house with us. It's a little crazy but she's mostly well behaved. Haha What kind of sheep do you have? My SIL has Shetlands and I'm hoping to add angora goats to our small herd of dairy (pet) goats as soon as I can afford it. Hope you have a great day!

Glad little Phoenix is behaving herself! She is a cutie! We have Soay, Finn and East Fresian sheep. I love Shetland and have thought of crossing our Soay with them, but breed conservation with the Soay is important to us. I have Finns for their wool and EF for dairy. I have been so pleasantly surprised by the goats ( we have Nigerians that were given to us by a family that needed to move them on). They are so curious and personable! Hope you have a great day!

Soays are amazing and very special! I’m currently reading the book The Lost Flock about Boreray sheep in Scotland. I’ve learned so much about the native sheep breeds of Scotland from it. Some of our Shetland’s also have Finn ancestry. Finn wool is also lovely. Phoenix is a Nigerian Dwarf! They’re cute two of our outside goats are also Nigerians. Today is our first farmers market of the season! I hope you also have a great Saturday.
