Caproni would be happy to know that at least a scale model of his CA 60 flew! Well done guys

It's more likely to be able to cross the Atlantic than the original. It's certainly flown further.

Amazing! Flys so nice? Never would have thought after the original had so many problems.

Had the real one made it across the ocean, the passengers would have been traumatized for life from the noise and drama.

So the idea was sound.... imagine if it had worked? 100 passenger flying boat in 1920? What a crazy Italian! Take off weight is 26 tons!
@GeomancerHT2 жыл бұрын
Not sound at all, electric motors have huge torque/power, and materials are extremely light, that won't scale up, not even in a dream.

It certainly has enough lift!
@Alchrat3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, it's model (design) was airworthy, but was still impractical. The reason why this flew was because we have engines that can lift a model of it with a better ratio than what its 8 Liberty V12 engines could do back then in the 1920s

it was reported to fly back during its early days, but it crashed and got destroyed immediately.

How did you calculate center of gravity? Is the MAC simply the chord of the center wing, given that all 3 wing stacks are identical in shape and size, and evenly spaced?

Did realy good once he down powered it because the problem with the plane was the rear wings arent giving it as much lift as he thought it would have on paper .if the fronr 6 wings have 100lbs lift the rear had 100lbs lift

Then perhaps problem with the original plane did not lies in its design but still too weak engines (for the 1920 era) in relation to overall plane's weight? 🤔
