Hi there 🙋‍♀️ This time I tried to show very concrete examples: do you find this more helpful than my previous capsule wardrobe videos? Let me know if you have further questions on shifting from one season to the next one. Happy Sunday! 💛

Yes I love that! It is soooo helpful! especially since I never think about colour themes when I shop and end up with a lot of pretty items that don't match or I end up with almost only navy, white and black. Could you maybe do a video on how to match and style specific colours/items? I really struggle with this, as I don't want to buy new things, but end up wearing the same stuff, as I never know how to style the clothes I have, neither colour or model wise. Thanks and love your videos!!!!

Bonjour Justine! I'm following you for over a year now 😍 Since I downsized my wardrobe, I find it's much easier to decide on what to wear and not get too hot or cold - I didn't do an exact capsule wardrobe, but I considerably downsized and then I realized what colors are the strongest in my wardrobe - I have to admit I was a bit surprised 😂 I love your videos, every single one taught me something new, and I keep recommending your channel to my friends. Geez, I already can't wait for the next one 😁

Once when I told my son to be good or he wouldn't get to play video games, he promptly told me if I wasn't good I couldn't watch any of those "French Lady" (Justine LaConte) videos. I had to laugh. That tells you how much I appreciate your well organized, beautifully appointed videos. I love these capsule wardrobe videos. I believe less is so much more. That said, the thing I often find missing from the discussion has actually been a game changer for me: I take a few minutes to put together an outfit and that's the outfit I'll wear the NEXT day. And I am here to say I have NO extra time, but I will do this. You can be as organized as IKEA, but if you don't take the time to put a few outfits together, you will run out the door misinformed once again that you hate what you are wearing because of your wardrobe. I found this to be the golden bullet because inevitably, when it is time to go somewhere, I feel pressed for time. So to have something ready to go is perfection. It helps me love what I already have and any purchases I make are typically an accessory or two to pull together what I already have. I invested in a nice set of three hooks from The Container Store so I can have three different outfits hanging at a time. I would hazard to guess we already have the outfit we saw and loved in the store window, we just need to take the time to put it together--that's what the window dresser did! :)

You make seamless transitions while still keeping the content relevant to the video. I feel respected as a viewer and appreciate your transparency :)! hi Renee I live in Toronto, used to live in Quebec City; at the moment we are having halcyon days but yes it will change, sometimes several times a day. This makes me concerned about my dog, who has a thick coat. And us? Ah, yes. Layers is all I came up with; peel one off or put one on. Hope that resonates! Justine lives in Berlin (my mother was a Berliner holocaust survivor) and I've been there countless times and their weather is as unpredictable as ours. So I think her concept is sound, and easy to adapt to the climate (word for me was 'adapt'.) Cheers!

your "yellow was the colour of summer so I'm going to assume you have it" comment was funny. I went shopping with my mother-in-law and she saw a yellow top and said "this will look great on you with your black hair". I winced. She was confused. I then grabbed the garment and put it against my clothes so she can see how yellow looks on me. I looked sick. I get the message though. A designer in Sweden, Gudrun Sjöden, makes sleeveless cardigans and sweaters. Also turtlenecks in thinner materials to wear under even blouses. Our designers has also learned from athletic wear and are mixing materials. Like wool, so you can wash it at 40 degrees C. They work with frabriques like corduroy and velvet as well. In boots you can buy boots in other main colours in your wardrobe. I have several in winter colours like darke blue, purple and darker green.

Hello Justine, could you please do a video on how to match leggings and stockings to your shoes and outfit? Also, I don't agree with your comment that fake fur is more environmental friendly that real fur. It is cruelty free, yes, but it is very poluting to make, it wears out quickly end it degrades just as fast a plastic bag.... not to mention that if you wash it, microplastics go into the water.... Real fur on the other hand, it can last for years and years.... There are companies that recondition old fur coats into new/more fashionable ones, maybe that is a better solution to fake fur. Greetings!
@justineleconte

My colours stay the same throughout the year (I don't wear light colours, always mid range to dark) so I always team up my summer cloths with leggings and layers when it gets colders :) The only thing my wardrobe needs right now is dark brown bottoms (which are surprisingly hard to find, it's always black, navy or grey or the brown is too red, green or light) and proper warm sweaters and/or cardigans. Which I've decided to design and knit myself. How's that for slow fashion ;)

If you can't afford to buy tip-top versions of the fabric, jeans are horribly unflattering, unless you're a catwalk model. They're also cold in winter, hot in summer and take days to dry. Yet we unthinkingly go for duhhhh...jeeeeeans... as our knee-jerk casual AND casual-to-smart wear. Time for a revolution!

Grey boots (mouse or light charcoal) is elegant for fall-winter. I love it with jeans or grey trousers.

I basically don't wear almost any of my summer clothes in other seasons. Does someone else do this too? It is too hard for me to find clothes for summer, cause summer is the most uncomfortable season for me, so it is most complicated to find clothes for. I don't like light colours, but I am forced to wear them in order to, well, survive 😅 Therefore, when autumn finally hits fully, I basicaly store almost all the summer clothes in order to save it for next year. Luckily I have more than enough clothes for the remaining three seasons from the days before I started downsizing my wardrobe because I take really good care of them and I rarely ever bought fashionable pieces even before (though judging by Justine's previous video my clothes are finally in trend yay) Any way, glad that summer is finally over and I can again feel as I'm living instead of just surviving

I can completely relate to this. The only thing I have added to summer-wear is a pair of white jeans and a few shorts, and I feel so out of sorts. The white jeans are beautiful but I hate having to babysit them in not getting them dirty.

august futura I am very clumsy also I use public transport, so I admire you for wearing white jeans, truly. Tbh I doubt they even make white jeans in my size so I guess I'm safe from that? I would like to find some beige-brownish short trousers (we call them bermudas here not sure how they would be called in english) for next year because my denim ones are done I can't even wear jeans during summer because it is simply too hot for me so again, bow to you for that I wear white tops, so I always have a spare t-shirt in my office desk, just in case I mess up something 😅

I am right there with you! My summer wardrobe is linen drawstring trousers, maxi dresses, tees, and sun blocking sportswear. I can add long sleeve tees and leggings/tights under the dresses with a cardigan for fall but when winter proper hits, I switch too. Autumn is my fave palette so I wear it year round as much as I can. I try to make up for the excess in my wardrobe by thrifting and not buying fast fashion. I wear pieces until they don't fit or get holey, and I demote pieces too. I had a thrift store find cashmere sweater I lounged and cleaned the house in until my dogs ate it. 😭

Jenna Hardy Pedersen Exactly, it's just physically impossible to wear the same clothes in summer as in the rest of the year, not just because of the colours, it's just too different in the matter of fabric and fabric weight I work in an office, so for the rest of the seasons I just change shoes and outerwear, but my clothes mostly remain the same in colours and layers and fabric weight

Tabitha Hunter Yes! Basically the same! I also rarely buy clothes and I prolong its use as much as possible My summer clothes are as naked as possible Very light weight fabrics, maxi dresses They are also mostly light in colours, and as you said the palette is just different, in autumn I would feel too out of place in wearing the light and bright clothes from summer, even with layering And it is just too hard to find summer clothes for me, so the less I use them, the less I have to replace them I buy almost everything that is not jeans or coats/jackets second hand And for jeans it's the simple reason that I am big and second hand shops rarely have such sizes, so I have to buy them in special stores or have them custom made, otherwise I would buy those second hand too All of my fancy clothes are second hand, I have a few more elegant pieces from years and years back that I rarely wear, and people can forget that I have them so it seems like I am wearing something new every time I dress up xD I kind of went off on a tangent there, but any way I am glad I'm not the only one It's just the most practical thing for me, and I think that's what it's all about, being optimal with clothes and time and money and other resources

Salut Justine, it's impossible to feel down when watching one of your generous and inspired videos. Tx again. When I was young I read many fashion magazines because of the art work, may have written this before, and then encountered young men who thought women should look like that so discouraged, I stopped. To continue; I am now of an age where no man can make me feel other than what I am so I am free to enjoy the creativity in design once again. Having said that, I am not always interested in fashion trends for a particular season: although that is your professional calling, I have a much smaller one; how to dress to be myself but find in seasonal patterns those things that I know will suit me. Right now for instance in North America everything is going …. beige. It's a foreign country to me. But there are long flowing lines that work, and I like very much the juxtaposition of something elegant with work boots during the day for women; it's practical, definitely not unnecessarily conventional and one doesn't have to break an ankle wearing a ridiculous shoe by Louboutin with a sole no-one can see. That style one day I hope will be compared to those elaborate wigs worn in the late 18th century which were so unsanitary and uncomfortable that women had to sleep on special wooden blocks and often found mice nesting in those elaborate contraptions …. or whalebone corsets. So much for idiotic shoes. I have a colour palette other than black and white and navy; they can be relied on but I love rich browns and oxblood with a dash of fire red; or blues and certain shades of green. Colour is vr important to me. Some years it doesn't manifest. Similarly, I love long split capes/ponchos/shawls -- not sure how to describe the look, but now they are around again, and I can find a colour. Last year there was a moment of kimono style tops without raised collars; found one and so on. My capsule wardrobe is very small indeed; I don't pay $700 anymore for anything because I can't afford it but I find quality, even in consignment stores and take things to a tailor. I had a faux Chanel handbag; I also own a fur coat which belonged to my mother which is exquise and no I haven't thrown it out; I love the opera and there are places where people won't throw eggs at my beloved mother's coat, which by the way is magnificent. But faux Chanel? Silly. Status symbol, not worthy. You get my drift ...I recently watched a video by the makeup artist Lisa Eldridge (hope 1st name is right). She is an accomplished artist in her field and also a naturally beautiful woman. She talked about bidding for something that belonged to Audrey Hepburn, someone whom she deeply admired, and I also. I don't think given her resources this was frivolous or mad. Audrey Hepburn was her unmet friend, and by owning a token of her, she cemented the bond and felt better. That is an anodyne way to find a style etc. In the same way I loved the Breakfast at Tiffany's Hat and a facsimile appeared and I wear it every chance I get, or Tom Petty's rich brown suede fringe jacket while performing a favorite song of mine in his studio -- found one, it's beige, but life is full of compromise. Hope you understand what I have used too many words to say. A bientot (no circumflex, much change keyboard!)

good to have you back Justine, I've missed you! by the way, I also remember you had a video a couple of years ago (?) about seasonal transitioning, and I took good tips from there too. I have 5,000 prints in my closet! I’m trying to buy anything in 2020 unless I get rid of 2 things to replace the new item. My goal is to wear a blouse over all my printed dresses/jumpsuits. I haven’t made a video yet because I live in Florida and I only add a handful of jackets, cardigans, and sweaters. You are awesome!
