The Billy bikes is beautiful, both look superb. Good to see that they are ridden frequently, not squirrelled away somewhere

Tastefully done and thoroughly described. Good down-to-earth descriptions of how choppers ride and sort of stop.

Absolutely Excellent bikes, a true credit to the twins! I love the film and have seen it many times. I built a billybike chopper a couple of years ago, but it had a WLA side valve engine, looked nice though. Panheads RULE!

You guys did an Excellent job with these bikes. The details of both these bikes is really on Point. Ether one of these bikes could be in the movie no problem. I've seen many that have attempted these builds and don't ever come close.

Very cool rides. Good job. I have a mostly stock 2013 Wide Glide that looks a lot like the Billy Bike, flames and all. Not a hard tail though. I'll take the two shocks on the Dyna over back jarring rides on a hard tail any day. Peace.

Love the bikes and the music but I'd rather hear the bikes than the guitar. Maybe that's just me. I'm 72 and been riding since I was 14 when I got a ride on a guys 47 Indian with a hardtail and a springer. Sweet ride. The last bike I built had a Finch custom frame and 15 over springer front end which was painted candy apple red and had a fiberglass Sportster tank. My back would not take riding a hard ass bike any more. Thanks for sharing.

Doug Fever I'm 72 yrs old as well & I'm still riding my father's 1938 EL Knucklehead , 1955 FL Panhead and his 1970 Shovel ,I don't ride the Panhead too much because it's too funky to start but I ride the knuckle all the time ,I've got my own bikes thst I've bought in my lifetime in the collection but the knuckle is my daily ride ,2 kick start every time .

BEAUTIFUL! even the oilbox & hard lines leak city but you definitely kept as close to O, the 2 others i've seen up close had oil filters, front breaks or course & 1 had rear disc the other had drum & a front rake set up to help steering handling. Kind like a porsche turbo 911, ferrari T, & this I would love to ride um just once, like that model I saw when I was in Ukraine, that was a bit easier just hand the money over.

Absolutely, beautiful bikes, love it!!! But if I was building it, I would have to put some suspension on it. wouldn’t want to break my back 😂
@michaelsmith10944 жыл бұрын
Back in the late 70's I sold a bobber and bought a chopper that was the same style as Capt. America and the paint job as a Billy Bike. I used to ride those hard tails all around the country and I don't remember the pain. Now I am 66 years old and even with suspension the thing kills me. Ick old age. My wife rode across WA. state with me and she was crying from the position of her rear on the 2nd up part of the seat. I wish I could build a classic and ride it all day again.

The Wild Ones, Easy Rider, Then Came Bronson, The Three Stooges ( scenes where they were chased by motorcycle cops) and a friend of my dads who rode a 1967 Moto Guzzi V7. Also Steve Mc Queen in The Great Escape and On Any Sunday. Been riding for 52 years now. Got 3 in the garage and shopping for an EVO this spring.

Knowing its been 13 years since you posted this a lot can happen in that time. If yall are still around and the bikes are still around it would be awesome to see them again.

Fonda's original had a 5.00 x 16 Beck rear tire. A "wildcat" tail light was on Fonda's bike. The original gas tanks were re-worked Mustang scooter tanks. Jim Leonard built the most accurate replicas. Still, this is great work by the Sundels!

@servicarrider10 жыл бұрын
Sugar Bear is a good and talented man who has his place in American motorcycle history to be sure. But, he did not build either the 'Capt. America' or 'Billy' bike. That would be Ben Hardy, who coincidently, was for many years a mentor of Sugar Bear. The History of Choppers by Jesse James, available on KZfaq, tells the story.
@vergus4510 жыл бұрын

back in the '60's & early '70's. we always built choppers without the front brake. I think the front brake law { California} came out in '69. bikes built after that date we used a wheel ass'y off an Honda 50....
