This song and this movie remind me of my grandfather. He served in the Army during WWII, in the Pacific. Just a skinny kid from a small town in Idaho, but he was more of a hero than I could ever be, and he survived the worst battles of the war. R.I.P. Staff Sergeant Verne M. Robertson, WWII hero and my Captain America. Surviving, as he once said, "By the grace of God, and a Colt .45"

They modify the theme to match the tone of the story or make the scene music reference it. Cap 1 was an inspirational story, while the rest got darker, but you can still hear the echoes of it in them. It's a short-coming of modern cinema, I think. The only other theme that sticks out in comic movies for me since Raimi's Spider-Man is Wonder Woman's and that's in a very bad way. Fitting though, since her movie felt so similar to Cap's first.

I am going to literally secede from the union and form my own country called the Single State of America just so I can use this as the national anthem.
@hazelgoodshepherd93157 жыл бұрын
No, not until the nation itself is as selfless, brave and pure as the underdog Rogers himself. As it stands, the US is the imperialist oppressor for most of the world. To assign it this hopeful and heroic anthem would be against everything Captain America stands for.
@hazelgoodshepherd93156 жыл бұрын
Timothy Mckee The United States has maintained an illegal blockade of Cuba since 1962 per the United Nations. The United States attacked Iraq under the false pretense of the threat of weapons of mass destruction in 2003 and has maintained a military presence there ever since. The United States terrorizes the Sioux Nation in North Dakota mobilizing in droves with tanks, automatic rifles and K9 units when UNARMED protesters of the Hunkpapa Lakota, Sihasapa Lakota and Yanktonai Dakota as they plead for clean water continuously poisoned with oil by corporate greed. The United States committed genocides against the peoples of Laos, Viet Nam, Indonesia, Iraq, Korea and Cambodia. The United States firebombed 60 fully populated cities across the Japanese countryside. The United States is the only nation to use populated cities to test nuclear weapons, murdering tens of thousands in an instant. Twice. The United States is using HAARP technology to extort trillions from Japan under threat of artificially induced earthquakes and tsunamis. Japan's national savings are ranked among the highest in the world. The United States outpaces all other nations in military expenditures. World military spending totaled more than $1.6 trillion in 2015. The United States alone accounted for 37 percent of the total. United States military expenditures are roughly the size of the next seven largest military budgets around the world, combined. Moreover, the United States as an imperialistic power maintains a military presence in nearly 800 bases within the sovereign boundaries of some 70 nations and territories abroad.
@hazelgoodshepherd93156 жыл бұрын
Timothy Mckee The Cuban threat has long since ended per the United Nations, making today's embargo illegal. A conservative estimate of 1.5 million Iraqi civilians have been murdered by United States troops. The United States attacked cities. Japan attacked a naval base which the United States had knowledge of days before per Hawaii periodicals. The atrocities of Cambodia's government is no justification for those perpetrated by the United States. The United States also supports Israel's genocide and apartheid of the Palestinian people. The United States allied with Russia at a time when Stalin had already murdered millions of his own troops and civilians and starved out countless more. The rest of your comment is pretense and postulation. When a bully stalks the hallways terrorizing kids and creating his own brand of justice and ignoring school rules, the principal grabs him by his ear and drags him to detention. But if that bully is bigger than all the school staff put together, well...

If you ever wonder why WWII is looked back on with such a romanticized image, just remember this. It was the last war that it was clear to see who was in the right and who was in the wrong. It was the last time we united to stop something truly evil and showed the best of ourselves and others after facing something so horrible and evil. Now, we fight for causes that aren't worth fighting for or ones that are tainted by honorless intentions. That's why I love the Cap; he embodies everything we strove for and all that we hope to become. He is, and always will be, my favorite avenger. EDIT: Alright, it's been more than two years. All of you need to chill the fuck out andfucking let this toxic thread die. I'm tired of getting notifications reminding me of the time I watched a fucking Neo-Nazi defend Hitler in the comments of Marvel Soundtrack excerpt.

I kind of wanted Bucky to get the shield, but Sam is still a really good choice, I just felt like it would be better off with Bucky, because he’s known Steve longer, and already knew how to use the shield, but I’m still glad Sam got it, because that suit was just, ooh man, good suit

It’s such a shame this march never really took off because Henry Jackman neglected it in the film’s sequels. Such a wonderful composition by Alan Silvestri.
@anonymousaccount44832 жыл бұрын
I disagree. Jackman used it in Winter Soldier. But once Civil War came around started using his own tracks. Luckily Alan composed the rest of the Avengers movies so Avengers 1, Infinity War, and Endgame all used the 2011 Motif. Danny Elfman who did Age of Ultron, also incorporated this theme. Elfman also sampled it for Peggy’s scenes in Multiverse of Madness
@Willy25372 жыл бұрын
Captain America March, like the character it's created for, belongs to a bygone era and doesn't really have a place in the gritty, more cynical modern setting. However, if one notices, the theme itself isn't really gone and snippets of it played out at some points when Steve Rogers is doing something heroic or just being himself, reflecting that while he's a man out of his own time, the spirit that makes him who he is from the old days is still there and will always be there, no matter how much the world has changed. Put simply, while the march itself never took off, it's still officially THE Captain America theme. Henry Jackman's themes represent Captain America's inner struggle as he tries to reconcile his own ideals with how things work in the modern day.

@leoholder7839 Жыл бұрын
@@Willy2537 not sure it's a struggle, i'd say jackman just modernised the themes for him, no struggle because he was still insanely cool in modern day, and the electronic sounds jackman brought in show that
@Willy2537 Жыл бұрын
@@leoholder7839 It's true that Captain America adapts rather well to modern times, but the core values that he believed it aren't as popular as in the old days, which is why he often clashes with modern day characters' more pragmatic solutions to address problems. His arguments with Nick Fury in The Winter Soldier and with Tony Stark in pretty much every film they appeared together reflected that. That being said, deep down the ideals that Steve Rogers believe in are still there within those characters, and it's thanks to the leadership he displayed that inspire his allies to be the best versions of themselves as well.

Captain America is supposed to represent what America can and should be at its best, and should strive for, and Alan Silvestri and the orchestra did a great job of capturing that in music.

I'm seeing some disagreements with who's work is better, Jackman's or Silvestri's? Honestly, I do like the original soundtrack more than the WS soundtrack, but I think the feel to each one matches it's own movie quite well. The WS is more modern and takes place almost 70 years from the first Captain America, so I'd expect it to be much more different than the first soundtrack. However, I do respect everyones opinions!

Every time I hear this song I salute. Steve just has the right qualities that make a good soldier, a good man, and a good USA citizen. Is it a wonder that in the penultimate episode of 'What If?' that there is a parallel universe where Steve became president?
