I should mention that I filmed a little clip of Roger reading the Golden Age Captain America and somehow it vanished during editing. I didn’t realize until the video went up. I suck at this!

Darn.I really would love to hear Roger's voice. I hadn't thought of it, but he probably has a nice accent.

Must have been all wrapped up in his reading.

Mark Gruenwald passed away shortly after that run. He was great writer who loved the characters and the mythos. If only he was writing today...... Comics needs him.

It’s good to see someone with a genuine enthusiasm reviewing comic books. It’s infectious. Many thanks.

I have to echo these sentiments. Thanks, Michael! Please keep it up! 🙂

Thanks again! I am going back and filling out my Brubaker run, which holds up well and provided some great material. The prices are climbing, but well worth it!

Then there was Captain Central America, able to leap tall border fences with a single bound.

Such a fantastic run! I hate that they did not last longer on the title.

...and then Marvel made the Ultimate Universe. Spidey fans cheered. Cap fans wept in horror.

This was a cool Cap run for sure. I'm currently trying to complete this run. I started reading it as it came out when I was a kid, but I fell off with it when I was in between comic shops. It was a definite step up from what came before.

I dropped out of comics in the 1990s. So I really appreciate you keeping me in the loop with everything that's happened since! Great review of Captain America Michael! (although it sounds like I didn't miss much with Cap) (Does a Rob Leifeld #1 actually count though???)

Hello Michael Hello. Captain America is like Superman and Tarzan combined together, in my humble opinion. A great character by all standards. Most admirable character. Thank you so much

It's cool to check out the post Heroes Reborn Cap. I think the Brubaker run is priceless. It did inspire the MCU but the story is much better and there are a lot of twists. Winter Soldier is in it but there's a lot more, including grizzly old Nick Fury. Mark Gruenwald was priceless and he was an encyclopedia. One of the best things he did in the early 1980s was the Marvel Universe guide to all the equipment. It's not a list of the heroes, but it shows you diagrams of all the important equipment and all the specs.

Hydra is usually green and yellow. From the old school villain designs where green was a villain color. Even the leaders usually have some kind of green and yellow motif. AIM is usually yellow although lately they have done Red White and Blue AIM agents. Both fold easily before Captain America.

Great and funny video, Michael. I liked seeing Jim Lee and Brett Booth doing the art on FF during Heroes Rrborn, but I agree the whole concept was a gimmick way to try to revitalize those heroes. However, Mark Waid has been kind of hit or miss with me. Happy reading.

Wait, so Capt. America threw away the shield that Tony Stark made because he couldn't throw it, so he used the original one that he couldn't throw anyway?
