This was such a unique and creative fight scene, normally you would see a standard sword fight between the protagonist and antagonist, but Steven said “eh fuck it let them fight with cranes!”

I love how Sakharine (red guy) seemed to have dreamed of this day. He wanted to crush his ancestors rival to the ground, his hand to hand fight scene with Haddock was practiced, rehearsed, like he had to get it perfectly. As for Haddock bro just wants revenge for the here and now. He knows the rivalry between Rackham & Francis but seems more focused on wanted to kick Sackharine’s ass then reenacting the past. For Sackharine, this seems personal. Like he IS the reincarnation of Rackham and that is my head cannon for this film (I’m not sure about the books) in my mind, Rackham was so fucking pissed at Haddock that he carried that spite with him in his next life and he wants to REVEL in beating Haddock because he looks so much like the man that took EVERYTHING from Rackham, so not only does he want the treasure, he wants the haddock’s house (which he got) he has what seems to be a descendant of Francis’s right hand man as a butler, he TOOK HADDOCK’S CREW AND SHIP. THAT IS WAY TOO PERSONAL JUST FOR A LONG BYGONE ERA SACKHARINE LIVED UP TO RACKHAMS CURSE! Taking everything that the Haddock’s had until there is absolutely nothing left. He wants to take down Haddock, to finally get what he wants. SWEET REVENGE. Haddock tho ain’t got time for that shit and throws a fucking bOTTLE AT HIM- It’s fucking funny. I love this movie!
@TheNapster153
@TheNapster153 10 ай бұрын
I think it also shows their priorites. Sir Francis Drake, at the end of the day, didn't blow up his own ship to keep the gold out of Rackham's hand. He did it for payback for the death of his crew along with his own survival. It was the case of an eye for an eye. Not to mention, if he were serious, I'm sure Drake could've found a way to make a new fortune and track down the Unicorn's cargo. But no, he must've just wanted to move on not knowing that Rackham was going to follow through with his curse.

I love all the references and symbolism in the final fight between Archibald and Sakharine. "Who gave you permission to board my ship?" "I dont need it. I never needed it." Aside from this a reference to actually needing permission to board a captain's ship, it also references the fact that Sakharine is the distant grandson of Red Rackham, who was a pirate. And in a way Sakharine himself acts like a pirate. When the two fight Sakharine uses a net to throw off Archibald and is able to best him. This is similar to how Red Rackham would do the same to Sir Francis, but with a burning cape. Sakharine even gies as far as to swing his cane/sword, just like Red Rackham did when bested Sir Francis. Finally Archibald would come back at Sakharine just like Sir Francis did with Red Rackham, but do so under unique amd potentially disrespectful manners. Archibald would throw a bunch of bottles at Sakharine, while Sir Francis would face away and stab Red Rackham, then leave without killing him. Which is another point. Archibald nor Sir Francis killed their opponent directly. (Note. Red Rackham drowned, and he could have potentially escaped, but failed to do so.) Finally. While Sir Francis caught a curse, Archibald would break it.

It’s a great cross-property reference that a character voiced by Daniel Craig is basically getting the Diamonds Are Forever Blofield treatment. ❤😂

Simon Pegg and Nick Frost do not sound too alike, but that’s the whole point with Thomson & Thompson / Dupont & Dupond: They’re NOT brothers, they’re just two dudes who look very alike. 😂

As soon as the sword fight starts at 3:14 the power dynamic ping pongs from “Rackham” effortlessly besting Haddock with arms, Haddock allowing rage to take over and beating him back with bottles, Rackham pulling out the papers and threatening to burn them and gloating with his evil monologue, to Tintin swooping in to nab them while Haddock gloats back and yeets him off the ship into the arms of the authorities and there’s barely enough time for all the little shifts to sink in leading to an overall feeling of knowing the good guys win in the end and not caring about the individual strokes of the confrontation, a Spielberg classic
