Yes... he's admittedly out of control!! It's a 1964 Rhodes Reliant 41'/14.2m Yawl sailboat for sale that has been in the same family since it was new IN 1964!! They have done some very clever tweaks to really make this a great boat and it has a load of classic styling.... and we all know how Captain Q loves a classic sailboat.... IT MAKES HIM GO BONKERS!!

One thing Captain Q didn't stress is how incredible the family who owns this beauty is to have kept her so nice and to have updated her along the way. He lifted the starboard cockpit locker, the paint inside on the fiberglass was shiny as a new car and even underneath the lid it was perfect. Cheers to that family, and thank you for keeping what's now a piece of history in such great condition!

The more Choe Lee built vessels I see the more I fall in love with them. The fact this is a one owner yacht that is 57 years old, in this close to like new condition speaks volumes as to the life she has left in her. As well as the love and care she's seen over the years. Truly amazing find guys, thank you for sharing her with us.

These boats are really well made. Over built in fact, because the boat builders did not know how strong fibreglass would be, relative to wood, when subjected to the ocean. So the fibreglass hulls were much thicker back in the 1960s than they are today.

This is a beautiful classic boat that is in great for being almost 57 y/o. I would definitely consider a boat like this when (if) I'm ready to make the "plunge". It's funny that shortly after Captain Q said something to the effect of "They didn't need a dance hall onboard" in reference Rad-day's comment about the low free board, the panning of the camera showed the 49' Beneteau next door with it's gigantic beam extending all the way to the stern!

Rhodes Reliant 6'5" headroom - added to list. Great episode. Fantastic boat. Neither Q nor Randee mentioned something obvious: this boat doesn't look CLOSE to 57 years old. Leaving aside design and materials it looks more like 10 y/o.

Beautiful boat, but you short changed the Cherubini ports. The real genius of them is that you can wedge the plastic or glass in the open position and have ventilation when its raining. They drain to the exterior. How cool is that!

My day is made and what a boat!! I love , love, the yawl rig and the wood trim. This boat has real character and would look gorgeous under full sail. Simple logical innovation at work especially the port holes. How simple is that? That full length galley instead of a settee nobody uses is perfect. Whoever buys this is investing in quality. Thank you guys and well done.

Captain Q…I’m just blown away by the bench you’re sitting on at the start of the video. Don Collier was one of my closest friends on Earth and he was revered as a sailor, and beloved marine mechanic at The Mystic Shipyard. In the 80’s I had the experience of a lifetime as crew on Don’s rugged 30’ strip planked Crocker Gull cutter, “Vixen” which he built and voyaged on for many years. We sailed her home from St Thomas, USVI to Stonington CT and it was one hell of an adventure in some “ interesting” weather. He was an amazing person and I miss him every day. He was a gentle Old Soul who would have been comfortable in any era of sail. Thanks!

My fav. It is official. What a Boat...!!! The small smart details, the mast,...everything. In the other hand, The boat is in Mystic, CT my fav. little town in the US. I used to stop by for the night, when I lived in the US, traveling for business. They had this warehouse with used staff where I found a Navigation Chart from the 50's of my coast in Northern Spain. I paid 1$. I still have it framed. Good memories. This boat in Mystic a dream..!. Now, let's watch it again.

Great boat and what a great location! I kept my boat at Mystic Shipyard for 15 years. It is a wonderful place, and living in the Willow Point neighborhood there (just a block to walk to my boat) was a sailor's dream come true. I would want this boat at my club so I could see it all the time - but owned by someone else, who had the time and means to keep her in the manner with which she has obviously come to expect!

I think a good idea for an upcoming episode would be to talk about costs. What does it cost to put in a new diesel in an old boat? How much are new sails? What does dockage cost? How do you own a boat and spend the least but still have a safe vessel? Some new boat owners are naïve about the cost and work involved, I think.

Oh my- a true blast from the past! Who doesn't LOVE a Rhodes design? (Crickets...) Between Hinckley, S & S, Rhodes, Concordia, Buddy Melges, Bruce Farr (wow, that's off the top of my head?) and the prolific designer from Narragansett bay who designed literally dozens of gaff rigged boats for day sailing (sadly, name escapes me?) that boat is gorgeous! I love it almost as much as the Tour Du Monde- which has a special place in my heart for her longevity, build quality & uniqueness! Reminds me of sailing in Penobscot Bay in my youth!

Can you find a vessel for me? An old man, who needs comfort and ease of operation, but refuses to come ashore at this advanced age? I love these Choy Lee’s! Especially the old ones where they were sooooo generous with the fibre glass for the hulls! I want to live aboard and I’ll be on the Great Lakes, and can winter aboard at a couple of Toronto area (Lake Ontario) marinas (yes! In Canada!) I’ve previously had an Abbott 22’, (the ultimate boat for the Great Lakes short wave periods)then a C&C 38’ (perhaps, the best ever Canadian boat?! - and, I used to do deliveries for Kanter Yachts, so I’ve seen some incredible sail boats and seen a few thousand miles of blue water) I’m looking at something 38’ to 42’. I LOVE your vids! I learn so much! You two are fabulous! You’re like Johnny and Ed from the good old days of television! Peace
