Throughout the summer these natural gas rigs located along the Alabama coast will hold several types of fish species, one in particular being Spanish mackerel! This day a buddy and I took a few dozen live shrimp out and were greeted with JUMBO Spanish mackerel every cast. These fish are super fun to catch on light tackle and taste amazing...Watch out for them teeth though!

I love some Spanish. You can pack them in a Ziploc bag but freeze them with meat together with skin on an no air for bout 2 months. Their still dang good but nothing like fresh. Love y'all brother !! Happy Memorial Day. God Bless y'all from Tennessee Respect!!!!

Man, I would've chunked some iron! Last June my son and I fished the north jetty in Port Aransas Texas. The menhaden were thick and so were BIG smacks, We were throwing 1/2 oz silver slabs and jointed plastic mullet. We caught a fish on every cast for over an hour then we ended up in the middle of a redfish feeding frenzy! Every one was ovrsize. I lost count of the reds. Best trip ever.

Nice fish! It's good to see you boys taking precautions against sun exposure. During my younger years no one took sun exposure seriously and now a lot of us old outdoorsmen are paying the price. Having already lost half of one ear and part of my face to Melanoma I can tell you that skin cancer of any type will ruin your ability to enjoy the outdoors. And for us old timers that spent most of our lives outdoors, this is like a death sentence!

I'm a new to this type of fishing. Moved from Central Missouri. I would like some tips on the gear I need, since all of my rod and reels are ultra light equipment for most pan fish, and my favorite, crappie. I'm really enjoying your videos. My son and I fished that gas platform last weekend, but didn't have any luck. I was using his equipment, but the water temp was 90 degrees, so not sure if that was a factor. Maybe we should have been fishing deeper. Been in Mobile County for three years now.

The gear you need really depends on what your wanting to catch but for fishing the nearshore rigs generally speaking a 5000-6000 size Penn spinning reel and a 7ft medium-medium heavy rod will catch most anything. I absolutely love catching Spanish. A fun fight on some light tackle. They cook up pretty good too. I like to slice some meat and skin from a small one and throw it out free line/ or split shot when in a school. They smoke it if they are there

Man I wish you hadn't told everyone about this rig. 😂 I've caught several Spanish with live shrimp under a slip cork on this rig that would've won the rodeo. I've just never fished it during the rodeo. That was actually my plan this year for the rodeo 😂

Because no one makes good nets anymore, they don’t last longer than 6 months. I’ve got like 4 of these cheap ones at the house Ive won from past tournaments, if it gets broke I throw it out no big deal. BTW I wish this rig was 60k !!!

I agree with what your saying. However, It’s a lot of work on the KZfaq side as it is to go out and make a quality video AND come back home and set everything up for a CCC. I run a charter business and also have a full time job so sometimes I just simply don’t have the time to do it as often. I do appreciate your comment and will try to do more in the future.
