Good morning Captain Mike. I very much appreciate and love watching your experiments. I especially love your videos on mold making for glass casting and draping/slumping. I'd value your opinion on mold making for the following scenario. My question: I'd like to build 4" x 4" cavities that maximize my 17" x17" (6" deep) kiln. What would you suggest is the best material to use - one that I can use repeatably - to full-fuse 12 4" x 4" flat tiles [for installing on walls along with regular field tile]? Ideally I want to put this grid-like mold on the kiln shelf, fill each cavity with my designs, fire, rinse, repeat... Instead of having to build damns every time. I look forward to your response.

Wow Marylou, that's a tough one. I can think of two ways to do that but it will be difficult to explain., One way would be to build molds out of clay and fire them and coat them with kiln wash. It would be easier to make multiple molds instead of a compartentized one. The second idea that comes to mind is to get some fire brick and cut it to make dams the size you need. You would have to line it all with kiln paper to keep the glass from sticking. I'll think about a video on how to do this, but it might be some time before I can do it. Hope this helps.

@@CaptMike Another option I thought about was bending stainless steel sheet metal and make either a grid (or grid pieces that I can butt join to make 1 grid.... not sure) that I'd coat with the UGC glass separator I think you mentioned in one of your videos (I've watched so many!). I'm going to make a prototype using wooden sticks and glue to test my theory.
