Skin smoothing in Lightroom or Photoshop isn't the end all. You can retouch without Photoshop.... to an extent. Retouching skin has a lot of levels to it, you can retouch skin tones in Capture One.

Been using capture pro a good few years now for this. A mixture of skin in colour editor. Then a layer with colour grading. Fab programme.

You absolute can, and I have done it before. You just want to be careful to not overdo it since it can essentially blur it into oblivion:)

I shoot tethered in capture 1 and use lightroom and photoshop and luminar as well ... exploring how to make a efficient workflow from Capture 1 to lightroom and photoshop ... capture 1 has best tethering, lightroom has best cataloging and cool presets that i have gathered over years and final editing in photoshop and there is no alternative ... use luminar as well as plugin in photoshop and lightroom ..

@@VanessaJoy Nice, I'm thinking of maby swith from Adobe's subscribsion and own Capture one I have used a free trail and Express for Sony but have not jet found a way to export a catalog with all my settings on the images to a backup drive and the same with presets.

In Method 2, you were starting with a flow of 100 and I was saying to myself "What is she doing?" but then you caught yourself and mentioned about lowering it. I keep my flow in the mid single digits and build up. I too have used both methods, probably prefer the latter. Then there's skin color variations between faces, neck, hands, arms, etc. Okay, I'm just bloviating now. Until the next video. Cheers.

@@VanessaJoy you're still ahead of me in this game which means I'm always going to learn something. Do keep making that 'mistake' at the end with the bell notification. It's funny how you keep doing that. I got a 1-year Capture One Pro licence because of you folks on the Adorama videos. I'm really liking this product.

Just wanted to add my point of view. I get what Adel is saying, and LR has a simpler UI, and if you need to turn around clients work quickly, you go to what you know. However, and especially now during our lockdowns, easing across from LR to C1 just needs some dedicated time. Part of the reason we struggle to change is exactly that, we struggle to change. Ever tried driving a Korean rental car...? The controls are all on the wrong side...! But we adapt and get over it. Jan 1st 2020 saw me make the decision to move over to C1 and Affinity, and lockdown just helps me. C1 is way more powerful but do we all need power all the time...? Some do some don't To be able to brush in adjustments on a layer for me gives me much more control and I initially used Vanessas's method 1 but now method 2 just works for me and is so simple (know that I've learnt it). Adel, I hear you and well done for trying it for 30 days, you tried it and now you know its not for you. I was happy using my chosen brand of camera... I tried a different set up... didn't feel the love and went back to my own camera happy in the knowledge I was using the right one for me...

I appreciate you made the unbiased statement that C1 is not for everyone. Too many videos as made as though Phase One has paid people in the comments to say "Lightroom is good, But Capture is far better" making an inference that people should be using Capture One. Now that I've personally tried it, I've actually made the discovery that because it has a different UI about 40% of the tasks I would do in Lightroom I'm figuring out how to do the same thing in Capture One and because of that new learning curve, I can't say that Capture One has enough benefits to win me over. Ultimately. . . Stick with the tools you know inside out, and those will give you the best result, and not necessarily a program that has "better" or "more" tools.

Hi again Vanessa! Super interesting video, Capture one looks really intense but definitely seems to have lots of control. I'm an amateur so for now I have LR and Luminar 4. The skin smoothing and other options for skin are pretty amazing and super easy. I'm sure Capture one is better but for now this works for me. Thank you for your videos 😊

Oh I agree, LR has 💩 for skin smoothing! I use Luminar 4 as a plug-in to enhance eyes, smooth skin, it's pretty amazing and it does all the masking for you...talk about "less clicks" lol. Even the FStopper guys love it. That being said I can't say for sure it would be the caliber you need for your wedding photography. Thank you again 😊

A lot of how C12-21 works is backwards from other editors, but it works well, and there's more control with C1 than most other programs.

Offtopic. How to blend only luma changes in C1? For example >> i111.fastpic.ru/big/2020/0224/8c/7748c0ab07d5ff411f4d87dc716ec88c.png For example, I create a curve as luma curve. If we down shadows in luma, that we up a saturation in shadows (visually), or if we down shadows in rgb, so we down sat. If I have a single, or pair points in curve, so it's not problem, but if I have more points, so me hard make it and in luma and in rgb curve. Paralelly. That won't change a saturation. With 3d lut creator I just blend changes as luma only. Ideally result. Maybe do I not known something? Sorry my Russian English. And yes. Smooth without luma is very good moment also ) As in PS > lab > smooth ab channel only. remove chroma artefacts etc.
