I also have a Chevy Equinox! I have slept in it a couple times but am also planning on traveling in it. Thanks for the good suggestions. Now see what I want to tweak to make it liveable. Have fun and be safe!

Hi Cherie, I just found you today. It's nice to watch someone starting from scratch. I've bought a few things, but have a long way to go. I will be traveling with one big dog, so it's good to hear how you handle the dog companions too. Can you talk about your refrigerator? I just saw that one yesterday on Amazon and it has pretty good reviews. Also interested in your coffee pour over. Looks like you are off to a great start! Have fun!

So far I’m liking the fridge. It’s been plugged in for about three weeks now without any issues. It’s the first of that type I’ve ever owned so I don’t have a comparison. It’s was more space efficient than some of the other models I considered and it’s functioned really well for two trips with it. It’s display is only in Celsius which I don’t care about but might annoy some people. My recommendation is to set it for about 3 degrees lower than you the temp you want to hold because it’s cycles a range of about 4 degrees. I want about 3 or 4 degrees Celsius, so I learned to set it to 1. When it reaches 5 degrees the compressor kicks on and cools it down to 1 and then repeats the cycle. My only issue is sometimes my power source times out during that cycle. It’s really pretty quiet even when the compressor is running too. My coffee pour over wasn’t new but it’s a metal travel cup with a metal filter basket that fits on top. I think it’s meant for tea but it works fine for coffee too. Of course the coffee from the French press is better but when I’m actually on the road I’m finding it don’t care enough to mess with it.

Hope you get this suggestion. The first thing you need is a solar power station. I would recommend getting a minimum of 1000 in order to power a fridge. I have 5 jackery. 300, 500, 2 of 1000 and a large 1500 to run my air fryer . Then get a 12v fridge to fit your size requirements. A solar generator helps to power fridge between hook upstairs. You can totally discharge your car battery if you plug fridge into the car😊

@@user-qs4yi9lb3i I think you’re set up sounds great for a full timer! I think in my situation as a part timer in a compact SUV it would a little overkill. Also, so far I’m not staying put long enough during daylight hours when I’m out to count on my solar panel for all power needs. I can’t do any permanent modifications to my vehicle as it’s a lease but hopefully I can do a flexible panel on my roof at some point. I know that poses other issues too.

@@CheriebyMoonlight So when you set up camp, you do adventures during the day away from camp that you can't put out panels? IMHO, attaching solar panels to any vehicle is absolutely useless unless they are on a tilt system which adds a boatload of wt. What if you get to a campground and the power goes out and can't be repaired? If you have a "pass through " unit a single 100 watt portable panel can save your bacon. I don't like to move my 2 big jackery so I have 6 foot extensions so I can park in shade and extend cords/panels to follow the sun. I was recharging one here at home. It supports 200 watts. Plugged both 100 watt panels and went from 38% to 100 during the day with more clouds than sun. I can also move stations and panels anywhere. With upcoming hurricane predictions I will be able to maintain house power with this system. Sun usually returns in 24 hrs...power maybe not for weeks. Another reason not to put them on your vehicle. PS. There should be a way to reprogram the fridge to F. Most 12V fridges have that feature. Usually buried at the back of the instruction book.

@@user-qs4yi9lb3i I’m am doing adventures during the day. My primary motivation is to visit and camp in as many National Parks as I can. I also have some dream coastal road trips I’m planning for 2025/2026. So, not stationary during the day. Really the only major thing I need power for is my fridge. Its capacity isn’t that big, if power is out I can pretty easily get a bag of ice and throw it in my soft sided cooler. I’m more accustomed to tent camping with no power so it’s not a major concern for me personally. Right now fully charged I have about 6 days of power for the fridge and the little recharges for fans and lights. If I can find chances to use my solar panel that will obviously extend it. I’m definitely still in process to figure out what works best for me and I value your advice. I will consider it as I make decisions moving forward.

I have campgrounds here in Illinois that will not allow cars or SUVs as campers..I am limited to state parks, at least that’s how it is in lousy Illinois ..
@CheriebyMoonlightАй бұрын
That is so ridiculous! You’re paying for a spot, why is a tent or camper van different than car?
@nicoleofnowhere8842Ай бұрын
@@CheriebyMoonlight A lot of campgrounds specifically have tent camping areas. They reserve the RV spaces for actual RVs. It's too bad because, yes, I'm willing to pay to have that space!
