This very humble low/no budget video was hands down the best of all the dozens of misfire/stumbling acceleration videos I watched, because of the excellent description of the symptoms and the concise listing of the possible problems. My 2016 Grand Caravan was having this problem, and it ended up needing to replace the #4 cylinder ignition coil (had a P0304 code without engine light). I repaired it myself AFTER a Dodge service center could not find anything wrong or (supposedly) couldn't even reproduce the symptoms in their test drive.

Damn I love KZfaq because of people like you man! I was worried about my car that had all does symptoms and took it to a mechanic and told him to just change my spark plugs and ignition coils and now it’s perfect!!!

I had a bad misfire and put in an upstream O2 sensor. Still misfired. Feared it was my cat going bad. Watched your video and tried a coil pack - fixed the problem. Thanks for the inspiration.

Thank you so much from UK. Subscribed. Just drove us home in the dark in 30degree Fahrenheit at 15miles per hour (i was not popular with the 60mile an hour traffic behind us). I drive a stick shift and the car wouldn't pump fuel in 1st or 3rd but was OK at 15miles an hour in 2nd. I drove 10miles up hill in sheer terror. Cars honking my family in car and trunk full of groceries. It could be a timing chain issue as the fuel pump and filter and seal were all replaced by the VW dealership earlier this year at Easter. Smell of fuel when I set off in the car coming from the exhaust.

"Back in the day".... 🙂 bad Spark Plug wires (now known as Coil over Plugs or "COP") would break down say at low speeds under acceleration, which also will cause reduced gas mileage. I have a 2003 Lincoln Nav bought new in '03 with the "Intec" engine (not Triton). It now has 141,375 miles. Replaced the factory original spark plugs w/ Motorcraft Plugs at 110,000 miles, due to slight decrease in gas mileage. Now, the gas mileage is even less. Intermittently, the engine under "load," at around 45 MPH will "stumble" or "misfire" when accelerating without engaging "passing gear." It doesn't do it every time. The 'COPs' are factory originals (will be 20 years in June 2023). Your video, the issues I'm having and remembering 'Back in the Day" how spark plug wires would cause the same issues... Time for me to replace the Coil Packs. BTW: The "check in engine" light did not come one. No PO300s codes either. Hope to see more videos from you....

He got them done and the car shop admitted they put on bad spark plugs and then his car started having the misfire! I am going to see if these things fix his issues because he was not having this issue before taking it into the shop for a spark plug change

Hello, I have a 1992 dodge b250 van w/5.2l eng. and bucks when up to 55mph and above I have replaced coil and plugs, wires, distributor cap, and rotor, I also replaced pressure regulator thinking maybe not holding fuel pressure. No help and still bucking at highway speed. Fuel pressure is at 31 psi at idle w/vac hose on regulator and 39 without vac hose on regulator. Seems good, but what else could be wrong.

I have a 2016 Kia Forte with manual trasmission, and it sometimes hesitates when I change gears and if I floor the accelerator. The strange thing is that it only does it when changing gears, and only sometimes. It's like I don't shift properly, which may be the case, but I drive other manual transmission cars and it never happens.

The issue with my truck is that when I get on the gas the rpms literally jump from 4 to 6 thousand rpms like hella fast and it makes a clicking sound, engine oil is fine

My 2019 Honda Civic 1.5t 26,000 miles. My engine will knock or misfire/stutter during load up hill around 2,000 rpm. I also noticed today after going down a long hill to a stop, then taking off right around 30 mph same thing...stutter, knocking noise, hesitation. If I let off the gas which I do immediately when hearing/feeling this it fine. I thought maybe it was the gas, so finally used up what was in there, and filled with fresh gas from the busiest station around. They get a new truck in almost daily. I also added a bottle of dry gas. Been trying to figure this out for a week now. Changed my air filter, cleaned my plugs which didn't look that bad, fresh oil change, still doing it.

I have the same problem and I agree with your recommendations. However, I have replaced coils and spark plugs twice already, and still have the same jerking at acceleration. I don't believe it is related to fuel, because I would have lean condition in my trouble codes then, while I don't.

Having that problem in gmc sierra but no check engine light

So I replaced my spark plugs and a coil in the 5th cylinder because I did have a misfire. Now I have noticed when I'm accelerating between 40-50mph my rpm jumps to 2,000rpm. If I barely let go of the gas the rpm will drop back to around 1500. But it only happens between 40-50mph. It will eventually drop back to 1500rpm if I dont release the gas. Do you think it might be the other engine coils? I don't think its my transmission it shifts smoothly. Any idea of what it could be? Thanks.

Thanks for the video. Got a question for you. I have a 2020 Honda Pilot with 37,000. I'm having an issue with the car at low acceleration....like 1500 to 2000 rpm it kinda pulses for a bit until I hit it up a little higher. Then there are no issues. So driving around town at slower speeds it jerks back and forth very gently when I accelerate out of a stop sign. I've watched a few videos. I'm thinking ignition coil must be bad at one of the cylinders. What do you think? I'm surprised it's happening with a Honda at only 37,000 miles. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

I had a jerking/misfire for awhile. Replaced the spark plugs, cleaned the throttle body. Thinking fuel injectors are bad? Goes away when giving it more gas

My 2021 Lexus ES350with 9,500 miles has had a hesitation at low speed most noticeable in 4th gear at 20-35 MPH. The hesitation is only for a second or two then runs normal. Northside Lexus kept my car for 28 days and all they said was use premium fuel, which I have done, and the hesitation is still there, Any ideas ?

What if you just got your spark plugs replaced

Driving me crazy, engine runs perfect when under light to moderate load. Jerks uphill or at 70ish mph like power completely cutting in and out at the tempo of like a turn signal. Fuel pressure constant at 5psi even while jerking. Vacuum is good, cuts down to 0 when jerking. Replaced entire ignition system, fuel filter, air filter, did timing, new plugs, rebuilt carb, transmission is rebuilt. Haven't checked compression myself but shop said it was good. Jerks with emissions both plugged or unplugged. No visible or audible vacuum leaks and passes spray test around intake. Nobody can figure this out. Only things I can think of is a sticking valve or something or maybe a leaking intake manifold INSIDE the intake? All plugs on one side of engine are lean.
