Just got my car fixed today. The problem is the catalytic converter are blocked and that is the reason for the lost in acceleration. My mechanic told that the air from the engine cannot get out properly through the ekzos pipe. I got it changed for a cheaper catalytic converter instead of the original toyota parts. Before, my car can only gain acceleration around 60-90 km/h and to get even 60km/h i had to rev the pedal to the max. Wish this can help somehow for the people who had the same problem☺️

if it was rebuilt, double check to make sure the distributor wires to spark plugs are in the correct firing order, wrong spark sequences will cause a huge loss of power and backfire

I had a 94 oldsmobile and I couldn't get over 65 without my car shaking losing power and acting like its missing.. never found out the issue any guesses? I could floor it and once over 65 it would bog down all the way to 5 miles per hour while still being floored and had the same shacking missing issue, new plugs wires and coil packs and ignition module which is connected to coil packs

I am having a similar problem. When i am driving on a motorway doing 60-70 and trying to overtake it takes very long to overtake. Also from full stop if i had to drive up hill it takes a lot of rev to puck up and than switch to second gear a lot of rev again and finally third. No fault code on dashboard. It just doesnt feel like i am getting what i expected when i put my foot all the way down accelerator. Car is fine no noise also no problem when driving around built up area. Its just when i try to join motorway i have to be very carefull and rev very high with lower gear to pick up my speed. When i press my foot down accelerator i just dont feel the power. My car is vauxhall astra 1.4 2012 excite.cheers

I am just home now, I have been out all day as I am finished work for Christmas so finishing off my prep. I was taking off on my way home but noticed that when I went into second gear, my car struggled to accelerate. I stopped at a stop sign, and when stationary, I could accelerate and my revs increased as normal. When I took in 1st gear it was fine, then tried going uphill in second gear, but had to pull over as the car would not accelerate. I turned off the engine, turned it back on and was able to get up the hill in second gear, then switched to 3rd gear and the issue seemed to have gone, but then I slowed down at a round a bout, and had to drive slowly in 2nd gear until I got home. I was close by, so didn't see the point in stopping to call someone. Might need some one to look at my brakes if it's the same problem.

Great finding! I have an experience about acceleration but it is about the supercharger tube damaged. It needs to be build up the pressure by the supercharger within the intake tube but one of the joint damaged that causing the problem. So need to know your car in a little more deeper for diagnostic the problem.

I will for sure check them as i go home....but i suspect the sparkplugs needs to be changed on mine cuz it just feels like it....by the way my car is a ford fiesta 2008

I took it to the dealer and they did a reflash. Doing the samething.

I m gonna clean the upper intake, throttle body, that usually fixes it, plus 93 octane is better than 91, I m ruling out the fuel pump because I just drove from Houston to Missouri and it drove fine at all speeds. I'm not a mechanic so I'll know soon, when I clean all that again.

but what this has to do with uphill acceleration? having a wheel blocked in some way should be felt all the time

This is happening to my old Hyundai. Pulling away from lights even on a slight hill is so embarrassing, can’t get past 22 mph. First seems like it has 60% power, Second gear has maybe 30% and third’s not much better. In third it will rev and almost change sounding like an automatic. Taking it to the garage next week. I'm a woman who is trying to learn how to do this on my own. I use to live in the country and had so many friends that worked on cars, I never learned how. I am now alone, as a single parent in the city, and I am trying to do this by myself. I'm competent enough from what I do know. But I need advice and I have no one to ask. 07 Aveo5, the basic of the basic cars. Electric nothing. The clutch won't allow the engine to engage with the transmission for some reason. It happened over about a day of driving. No misses previously. Now, I had to get my neighbor add power and push the car to get it into my barely uphill parking spot. Fluid was barely low. Topped off and bled. It is also getting changed when I find out what is wrong. The pedal feels normal. I don't think it's the master cylinder. The slave cylinder and the clutch are caked in oil. I bought the car last winter and haven't had a chance to have it detailed. And the slave cylinder will not budge by hand. Is this something you would try on your own? Or should I just sell what's left... Because I can't get help.

I just had my breaks replaced by someone I know it was fine then I ended up with same problem. I wasn’t getting any acceleration up hills and no pickup whatsoever & bad smell. I was told my engines old or I need a new engine so but I’m still iffy.

I had an issue like this when my car was struggling up hills and stalling at idle and struggling to build up speed. it turned out to be the fuel pump. Unfortunately i’m not sure if it was the valve or the float or fuel filter cause i drive an un american vehicle (toyota) everything is expensive and ridiculously engineered

I went to the mechanics 5 days ago. You don’t need to pay for dealership to plug in the diagnostic device into the car they can find any faulty codes or blow fuses and find out, not that I payed to get the device plugged into the computer

I was having same issue on my car too . But on mine I diagnose easy because was smelling very bad and even a lot of smoke! Only on front wheels. So I decided to change the piston brakes , break gaskets and break pads on all w( with new parts! Now I have only one problem: the driver side wheel still have same problem ( break remain stuck and don't release the wheel 😔 ) .Simply I don't know what to do anymore... 😭😭😭😭

Hello. Can i ask a help from you with my bug problem . I actually got a 2000 model and The problem of it is The speedometer is not moving and the gas is not picking up wether I'm moving or just started the car.. when I'm moving my speed is only 50 then suddenly I notice the sound change so I press the acceleration to speed up. but the speedometer is not responding and the gas is not gaining.. I went to garage to fix it . And they fix fixed the injectors, 4pcs spark plug 3pcs ingine mount.. Then, when I try to drive the next day the problem is still the same and nothing is change. 🥺 please maybe you can help me with this problem as you are an expert on this...
