Are you hearing a thumping noise from your car or truck wheel? You can quickly figure out what is causing the noise if you watch this video! Andy shows you how to focus in on a front wheel noise to find out where it's coming from, and what's causing it! This time, the clunky thumping is coming from a loose tie rod. Tie rods have joints that can get loose as they wear out. Loose joints have play, which allows the front wheels to wander or wobble, and the metal parts of the loose joints will clunk when they move. This video shows you how to easily find and fix your thumping problem!

When I go over a hill (one you can almost catch air going 60 mph) I hear a clunk on the drivers front as the truck (2005 f150 4x4) crests the hill. I had upper control arms, 4x4 actuator replaced by a mechanic before this.

This is really cool. I've had what I would describe as a knocking sound for the last 2 years in my car and no one could tell me what it was. I'm so glad I found this video because I just noticed a few days ago that my tire moves exactly how his did in the start of the video. I'm super excited it's not something way worse. The best person to fix things is yourself. So glad I found this video!!! I replaced my cv joint hoping that was it and it didn't go away. Now I'm fairly confident it's the tire rod end

Excellent video. I get a popping noise when turning either way. My wheel also shakes from side to side which suggest inner & outer tie rod on both sides. But the noise sounds like it is coming from my rack. My guess I need to change out the Rack & pinion. I've changed out the upper ball joints.

I have a 2004 Pontiac Aztek and I just recently replaced all the front suspension including the axles, wheel bearings, brake system, inner and outter tie rods, struts, upper and lower control arms. I also replaced the rear springs. This fixed all noises and gave me the stock height back as well. Nothing like a new suspension.
