Love the videos. Could do without the music. It's way louder than your voice so I keep having to turn the volume down every time you're buffing so the music isn't blasting.

Amazing video and content good friend. Funny how most people fear the rotary but in essence rotary finishes better and using wool pads are about 30 % cooler.b well good friend

One thing you were very lucky. The amount you were pushing down on that aircraft aluminum hood can cause rippled effect. Especially with hot sun. I actually do aircraft detailing for a living so I know.. Working in sun is very easy with right tools and most of the time I work on aircraft in the sun.

Hi Darren. Great video, I've waxed in direct sunlight quite a few times, I don't think it was ever hotter than probably 80 to 85° outside and if I felt that the metal was getting too hot then I would pull in the shade or the garage. I've never had any issues waxing or washing in the direct sunlight as long as it's not getting too warm out. I did a few KZfaq videos on waxing my trucks and I got a lot of s*** for doing it outside in the sun. oh I love it when I get-you can't clay bar in lines you can only do it in circles. I do circles, squares, back and forth lines it all depends where I'm at on the surface and the space I have to work with. I use the wax master 900 one day I'll upgrade to the one you're using. I've had the same buffer since I think the '90s. I replaced the 9 in foam backing pad about three times.

I usually clay bar In a straight line because it's easier to remove the scratches which shouldn't be to bad if you have a newish bar, cleaned the bulk of the sap and tar off because it holds grit and washed the car properly and many don't watch the WHOLE vehicle. You can polish in the warm weather but I do prefer a shade tent or a shady spot outside. I also try to work early or later in the day if it's a special job. The polishes and waxes just lose their solvents faster and you'll need to use more product because it breaks down faster....some products are more stable than other's that way. -34 year's experience in detail and bodyshops & a one of the few female polishers :)

Did you treat the hood to remove any wax or polymers sitting on top of the finish before you polished? What did you use?

Hi Darren. Great video. Toke you advice but correction did not go well. Tried to correct 5th gen Camaro, black with scratches and other defects in paint. Used DA with 1st Lake County Miro pad and switched to Yellow pad. Neither corrected. Spent 8 hrs just to get “gloss” . Used Meguiar’s “Ultra Cut Compound”. Nothing was ultra about it. Any suggestions? Is it safe to try again using different product??

I'm new to the rotary and have used it for the cutting stage. What rpm/ speed do you run it at for finishing?
@autofetishdetail
@autofetishdetail 2 жыл бұрын
Cutting: I set to 1200-1800 RPM's based on the specifics of the moment. Finishing: I set to 800-1000 RPM's based on specifics.

I've tried to polish in sunlight and the compound got dry fast so, no, it didn't work...not to mention that the compound was hard to remove from the surface but I'm watching this because I'm curious.

Hey Bro, is most of what you're doing from a timing standpoint for illustrative purposes? I'm not asking in any snotty way at all. Just I wouldn't think you'd be spending that much time (teaching part removed) on a section. I want to reiterate I'm not challenging anyting (hate I have to say shit this way these days as people get offended) but it seems like that would be a detail that took days lol.
@autofetishdetail
@autofetishdetail 10 күн бұрын
No offense taken. Not sure what to say though. If I was not attempting to teach/film, then everything goes waaaay quicker when I am just doing what needs to be done. But the moment I am attempting to teach, then things necessarily become long. And as a business owner, I am only going to do what is necessary to produce the results based on customer expectations. But this is case dependent and some paint will require a lot of time/effort, while some paint will require much less time/effort.
