Balancing the carbs on my 1995 Kawasaki ZX6R F1 with a Morgan Carbtune. The Morgan Carbtune is a fantastic piece of kit and I'd recommended it to anyone!

Hi sir joe...what advice u can give to fix engine issues on Kawasaki zx6r 2000 model ...the problem is the bike can't run more than 120kph..wen it reach 120 the speed is dropping...

@100HondaCB gearbox is usually clunky in Kawasaki & suzuki superbikes, but please check/replace shift fork springs (2) under clutch (RHS Engine). A simple job. If those springs are weak or broken the gears will be difficult/hesitant to change. A symptom might be.. you change up, but the gear takes a while to "catch up" to the shift.

@steller20000, pulsating is usually a sign that the valve shims need checking/adjusting. Either that or a worn cam chain. The cam chain can only be removed by spitting the engine.. and is designed to run for the engines life. If you experience "shunting" on decelleration this may be the cam chain. The usual fix for this is an aftermarket cam chain adjuster that gives you extended adjustment on the cam-chain-guide. While this retards valve timing a tad.. it obviates the need to strip the engine

@benhamin3d This bike does not have a main stand or paddock stand, so it was tilted or nothing. Although I fail to see how balancing would be affected by the tilt on the bike.

@chilby00 I've just done the shims on mine and the hunting is still there, but it idles much better and pulls better too. However, at idle it smells a bit rich so I think I'll hve to check the pilot mixture. My gearbox whines and alot when I accelerate hard. I guess the bearings need renewing. The ZZR is a good bike. It's a real bad boy and makes you one too.

@Smutley13 The problem I have with my ZZR600 is the gearbox whines a bit. I might change the gearbox bearings soon. I brimmed the tank, then took it for a ride on the motorway at a sensibe speed and then brimmed it again in order to work out the economy. For 27 miles I used 2.04 liters. I thought that was pretty good and just shows if you ride a performance bike sensibly, you can get good economy. The ZZR I guess is better on fuel than the CBR. Even my GS500 use to stutter at 2000rpm.

@1100HondaCB Yup, this bike used to pull fromlow down really well. The CBR600F I currently have (same year as this) will not do a great deal unless you are above 5k rpm. It will pull from lower, but nowhere near as well as the Kwak.

@chilby00 Funny enough, I noticed the exact same with my ZZR600. I cleaned the carburetors and then balanced them. As you say, I noticed a slight fluctuation in the rpm at 1100rpm. I hope I've done the job and she pulls well even at 2500rpm in top gear effortlessly. Even for a revvy four cylinder, she has so much low down grunt and third gear acceleration upto maximum power is just blinding. All in all, a very flexible and useable engine. Do find the gearbox quite clunky as mine is?

Is there any noticeable difference in how the bike runs before and after?
@Smutley137 жыл бұрын
quniok it depends on how unbalanced the carbs were beforehand, but the difference can be huge. Unbalanced carbs can lead to rough idle or jumpy (kangarooing) performance at low revs (making holding a steady throttle for corners difficult), all the way to poor power delivery and reduced performance all the way through the rev range.

Thnx! Gotta order my Morgan kit next month then! Mine is suffering from a mild hiccup right off idle especially when cold, I'm thinking too small pilot jets as undoing air/fuel mix screws by 3.5 turns cleared the issue almost completely. It idles fine but better when hot with temperature gauge needle near the center. I bought a set of carbs second hand and basically put one set together using two so who knows how off they might be ;-). One more question the manual says to connect the pipes of the balancing tool to the nipples on the intake rubbers but there are already pipes there running to the pair system, can I connect to those? They are not of equal length though would that throw the reading off or not?

@benhamin3d The bike does not have to be standing straight up. As a professional M\C tech for 20 years I now this.

Isnt he supposed to talk while hes syncing the carbs? Or does he expect us to read his mind?

It didn't say it was a guide or tutorial... the title is "Carb Balancing Kawasaki ZX6R F1" and I think that's what the video shows!
@benhamin3d13 жыл бұрын
In order to tune these carbs the bike needs to stand straight and not tilted.

I Think its pretty obvious. 4 carbs, 4 manometers. Try to get them all equal.

The only thing I dont like about this..is balancing the carbs without the airbox mounted....thats not good...my opinion...
@Smutley139 жыл бұрын
Why? It doesn't make a blind bit of difference... Admittedly the filter is not there, but unless you're doing this in a dust storm, it really wont matter.
@ciogon9 жыл бұрын
I dont agree...without the air filter the engine runs lean....you must know that...
@1100HondaCB9 жыл бұрын
ciogon Carb balancing isn't done by mixture as in this case but vacuum levels between carburettors. With airbox off, it doesn't make any difference.

ciogon How in the world would you make any adjustments with the airbox in the way? Do you have a magic screwdriver?

You do you..but i dont see the point of this video honestly, a little narration would help..
