Carbon Based Lifeforms (CBL) are Johannes Hedberg and Daniel Vadestrid , both born in 1976 and based in Göteborg, south¬west Sweden. They met when both 15 and are still, amazingly, working happily together, over 25 years later. CBL itself was formed in 1996, as an offshoot from other projects, but it soon became their focal point, culminating in their first release on ‘mp3.com’ in 1998. The duo signed with the celebrated Lyon¬ based ‘Ultimae’ label in 2002 and went independent in 2014 To date they have released six official, full length albums and is one of the biggest names in their genre.
CBL aim to combine earth and space in their music. Using the combination of nature and technology as the main inspiration for their work, they like to represent both the positive and negative effects that this collaboration can lead to.
CBL are frequently present among the headliners of the biggest Psytrance festivals across Europe and have done many shows in Russia and even USA and Australia.

CBLs music is really special, I didn´t feel connected to the music of an artist that much in a long time. The tracks all have a very unique feeling and atmosphere, it´s just great

While I love everything CBL does, I just don't see them doing cyberpunk synthwave style music. Although I haven't seen the new Bladerunner so I'm not sure.

They didn't make it that retro synthwave sound. Why would they? it's not trying to parody the 80's. These guys would have nailed it.

I am so surprised seeing a CZ1! I have one gathering dust in my studio, it was the cheapest synth I ever bought, can you give me an example of where that is used in your music?

Ensoniq was already going due to bankruptcy when the Fizmo was released, hat is why not all functions are controllable through the panel and we only get a four-character display. I still miss having one though.
