@Shad & @James. I feel the need to voice this for you and everyone. The oldest "known" swords were made of "arsenic copper alloy" over 5000 years ago. Around that era, and time metallurgy started to be implemented in far more use then weapons and armor. From constructing buildings, ships and weapons, to everyday use like utensils, travel and jewelry, the use of metal improved AFTER the sword. The building of the earlier swords taught us how to use metal in ways we never imagined. So now seeing you use carbon fiber to build a giant sword is inspiring. The engineering and chemistry needed in the creation of a sword is very complex and so the knowledge that will be gained from this... goosebumps. I have goosebumps.

When she looked at what she'd made and tested it she thought she'd done the tests wrong because she couldn't believe she'd made something so amazing, especially when she wasn't trying to! If you're creating a extra long long sword assuming you want the cross-sectional shape which is an elongated diamond you could use a composite material called g10 down the center of the blade giving you your central ridge and adding significant rigidity to the blade then add your carbon fiber over top of that encapsulating the entire thing. If you had a central ridge running 2/3 the length of the blade that was approximately 1/8 or about 3 mm tall you would gain significant strength without adding a lot of weight

FINALLY! You're actually getting advice from someone who understands these materials. My fear was that this inspirational project was going to fail because you didn't have the in-depth knowledge to do it properly. Now that you have an expert on board, your chances of success have increased dramatically. I'm not convinced that a longsword would gain much benefit from this, it would be lighter and faster but lack cutting power. But for the Titansword, it's the only practical option. I am thrilled to see this project continue, and look forward to the next installment.

What about putting some of the carbon fiber under tension to make the sword less floppy? Running a tensioned layer from the tip to the hilt alongside both sides of the blade might create forces that make the whole thing a lot stiffer. I feel like a really lightweight wooden core would offer some benefits. You could carve a sword out of a really low density wood, then embed the blade in the edge and layer the composite around the wood in a pattern where the directionality of its strength perfectly met the stresses imparted to the sword.

I got confused, I play and watch so much 40k channels in combination with Shads channel, I read the title, TITANS SWORD and was like: Oh man, I'd love to see a Warlord or Reaver Titan with a sword, well now I'm building a freakin' sword for my Warhound as a test lol

Day unknown of asking for a video on the misconceptions of medieval weddings and how they can be incorporated into the plot of a novel or book, (other than just an arranged marriage trope because that can be tiering there had got to be other types of marriages at that time and other than something the hero has to save the love interest from aka Robin Hood saving Marian form being forced to marry the Sheriff of Nottingham clones). Also Merry Christmas.

This is a different but equally awesome mood, as compared to the more energetic and action-oriented videos. It works well! A guitar in the background, the excited discussion of ideas and equal sharing of the spotlight, plus a feeling of productive calm, are unused concepts by a great many large-scale creators. Glad to be here to see sword history unfold, and especially for the tale to be told like friends around a campfire 👍
